This makes me cry so much, especially knowing that my ancestors from my father's side and mother's side mostly came from English, Welsh, even a little bit of Irish and Scotland together. And I know for sure that when it comes to it, know your ancestry, because it's a big part of knowing yourself and where you come from. Remember that. 🐲🍀

This music is sung in welsh from what I can tell, a dialect similar to that of ancient cumbria and Northumberland (brythonic celts) dialects in which the Welsh claim descent from. It has little to do with either English (Anglo-Saxon) or scottish/Irish (goidelic celts).
If you have any ancestors from the North/west of england the chances are you have brythonic DNA (becoming more goidelic as you enter Scotland/East Ireland) however if you have ancestors from the south you're more likely to have have Anglo/German DNA.
This is at a fundamental level, there will be genetic variance within all local populations.

@@bretwaldabjorn5657 That isn't accurate. The Goidelic Celts are thought to originate in Iberia (Modern Spain) whilst the Brythonic Celts are thought to have originated in Gaul (Modern France). We are all of Germanic ancestry if you go far back enough, people see the viking age as the migration period but I think that's wrong personally I believe it was the end of a very long migration period. Unfortunately Christianity has destroyed most of our history. Just my personal belief I mean pagans traveled from all over Europe to meet for the solstice at stone henge, they found cattle bones there dating back to the same period and traced that cattle to Orkney islands if I'm correct and animals that would have come from what is now France, That's a long way to walk.
I love all my pagan brothers and sisters regardless off what country they live or have lived the last 2000 years be it england, wales, Scotland, Ireland, Scandinavia or what is now German. Unless there a racist, no time for that rubbish

Consider that we Pagans don't kill each other for religious reasons only power/territory which is natural, every polytheist everywhere worships the same gods. Xtians butcher each other by the tens of thousands because one group of people worship the exact same god but in a slightly different way.
"You could be exiled/ executed (sacrificed) on the whim of bad Omens."
Xtians tried to destroy my entire race on the whim of bad Omens, they burned people alive and worse tortures.
Many things about the past were written down but they were destroyed by Xtians, along with our greatest landmarks.
"Most Christians fail to interpret the Bible correctly"
Sometimes you sound like Communists to me honestly "No that wasn't real Christianity! You must try my unique infallible brand of Christianity then it will work I promise!"

@@LucidWanderer There is a difference between Religion & Christianity. It was ‘religion’ that caused wars not Christianity. When the church came under Constantin’s protection, somewhere along the way, Scripture began to be reinterpreted. The church became carnal only caring about control & wealth. At some time in one’s life, you realize you are under the Infinite Creator Intelligence’s JUDGMENT. We don’t know this Creator bc we are estranged from him by our rebellion(sin.) The story of Adam & Eve is real. They are the progenitors of our race ( human race.) before they mistrusted YHWH, The Creator, they were filled with his YHWH’s Spirit & were enlightened by God. After exile from Eden ( dimension of Paradise), to keep them from eating of the tree of life( bc they would become immortal unable to repent, perhaps) ppl on the earth lived completely by their carnal minds, w/o enlightenment of God( YHWH.) why Jesus(Yeshua) incarnated as a man to show us who God is, interpret Scriptures correctly & give his life as a ransom for ours. Because God the Creator is JUST, sin exacts a penalty. Jesus overcame all temptation from Satan to qualify as the offering for our sins. He knew ppl would reject him, beat him to unrecognition, rip his beard out & that he would suffocate on a cross. But Jesus said he counted it all JOY for those who would accept his gift of pardon & live with him in Eternity.

Cross bows were like the middle ages and swords were still such a common practical weapon next to the axes and clubs. That said, swords and the like had been around since workable metal, and thus there was a general understanding in the populous that one should be able to keep a sword if they gained possession of one, and due to how expensive they were to make, they often were important heirlooms. However, swords are generally not as effective on the battlefield or in melee as a pole arm. That is to say, it was relatively easy to mitigate swords in battle, and there were different cultural influences involved in people being against the restrictions.
Guns today are often restricted with widescale support from the population (with the exception of the US). This matches more with crossbows, which were uncannily effective on the battlefield, because using a crossbow took significantly less skill to make a strike that is significantly more powerful than a bow. Crossbow bolts were known to pierce armor, even that of the wealthy nobles, and thus was restricted to only be used during crusades and the like. That feels more like the cultural discussion behind the restriction of guns than the discourse behind swords does.
Ultimately, I understood your point, and while I was flippant, I was just trying to share my two cents worth. Take care.

Pictish was the original British language. Apart from a few fragments, it is now extinct. It was never a written language and finally died out about 290 years ago, when the English began purging all other British languages, a purge that would last over 150 years and in some areas, didn't end until the beginning of the 20th Century.

Modern English is a combination of this language, Anglo-Saxon and Norman. It's the Norman influence that really changed it.
"European invasions" is weird phrasing..... British isles were, and are, a part of Europe lol, they were even connected to the Mainland at one point. Everyone in Europe was basically the same group of people, just different tribes, with 2-3 main overarching cultures, who were also connected to each other. Also, the Anglo-Saxons didn't really "invade". What the Normans did was closer to an "invasion".

The Nationalists are going to be outnumbered constantly, you would have to unavoidably bestow a quasi welsh dictatorship to force the change in culture to happen. Christianity in Britain dates from at least the 4th century and by the 5th century Roman and Celtic missionaries had converted the entire island.

Depends what you define as ancient Britain. The English Church was founded by St Augustine in AD 597, but Christianity in Britain goes back much further than this
Christianity had been present in the British Isles for at least three centuries before the St Augustine's Vatican-sponsored mission to Christianise the kingdom of anglo saxon Kent in AD 597, as evidenced by Patrick and Dewi/David (the patron saints of Ireland and Wales who lived in the late 5th and early 6th century), and Alban, martyred for his beliefs during the third century. So the Britons and Irish were Christians before the pagan saxons of the 6th century. Or do you mean even further back?

@@sionjones1026 First of all, "ancient briton" is already very well defined and is not a matter of opinion. www.worldhistory.org/britain/
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celtic_Britons
The anglo saxons forced english on native britons. As far as christianity goes, the celtic britons were never originally christian. They were pagans. The Irish got their "catholicism" from migrating from spain and brought it to the british isles. Which explains a lot since the Irish are Q- Celtic, not P-Celtic like Ancient Britons are. Because of this, the Irish are not "true celts" although most think of a celt as someone with red hair and men who wear kilts and play bagpipes like the Irish and later generations of Scottish. However, that is simply a fake modern version of "celts".

@@joannechisholm4501 There's not 17 lmao. There are around 3 minor genetic groups, and those 3 are basically the same anyways, VERY slight differences. Welsh have a little more Brittonic DNA, which has slightly more Neolithic Farmer ancestry(Stone Henge builders). The Celtic Tribes that migrated there after them were basically the same Genetic make-up, but with more Steppe-Herder Ancestry(Indo-European). And way later you had Anglo-Saxons and Normans.... who again, were basically the same Genetically, except for miniscule differences.
ALL Europeans: South, Northern, Western and Eastern, are all made up of the same 3 major genetic groups to slightly varying degrees. So trying to make out the Welsh as being different from Celts or Angles/Saxons is ridiculous. Especially considering they were ALL North-Western Europeans. So not only were they European, but they were all from the same region of Europe. To show you how small the difference is, ancient Britons had maybe like 5-10% more Neolithic Farmer DNA, while Celts and other groups had 5-10% more Steppe DNA. And that difference gets even smaller with modern Welsh
