I once picked up a calm and peaceful Lyft passenger and we started talking about music in general. I mostly blabbed about myself and drumming, although my intuition led me to believe he was a player too. I asked him if he played anything, and he said, "I play guitar." "Are you in a band?" I asked later on. He replied in the most humble way.."Yeah, the flaming lips." Yeah, I felt stupid. Awesome person. I love these guys.

That bass break in "Nigdy Nie (Never No)" is so great.

"One Night While..." is the stand-out track for me. It really sounds a lot like wandering around in some fantasy-land forest at night, with small band of followers in tow, awaiting your commands to continue searching...or stop while everyone still has their heads. Thick percussive booms in ominous atmospherics. Such a fantastic track.

Fantastic Flaming Lips as always. Don't listen to this or you may start seeing things, and then you'll go back and listen to "The Soft Bulletin" or even further back. Please don't listen to this. It will change things.

thank you, bella union, for keeping this full album up; as so many say, it's sounds underwhelming at first, but it really grows on you and puts you in that rem-sleep mood; easy to revisit and be happy with everytime

This album makes me think of Yoshimi. I loved the slower, relaxed songs (Robot Sympathy and Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell, especially) and was hoping for whole album like that. Oczy Mlody gave me what I was hoping for!

I bought this on vinyl when it dropped, being a huge fan of soft bulletin and yoshimi, but had felt their interim albums were interesting at best, not what i truly loved about my fave lips albums. When i first listened to this i simultaneously read reviews on it, and was surprised to see a lot of negative ones. "A rehash". "Nothing new". I disagree. I feel like this album fuses all of their best elements into one and progresses with their amazing samples and electronic music and lush and dramatic synth basses, etc. This album is amazing.

This is what happened with me. My first thought was, "oh no, another 'The Terror.'" After a few listens, it became one of those albums you can put on full repeat and not be tempted to skip anything. The album was a surprise pleasure.

Anyone willing to listen to this (and any other) album more than once, has my respect and entitled to an opinion. It definitely improves, as with other FL albums. For me personally, this album, Soft Bulletin, and Yoshmi Battles......, are their best (I could play the tracks, 'In The Morning of The Magician's', 'The Observer', 'Feeling Yourself Disintegrate' endlessly). An eclectic taste is essential and more interesting, although there are threads of M83 and Radiohead that I can hear here. Now don't black tar and feather me (and then drag me through the streets of Bristol (UK)), lol, but can you hear strains of Sting's Fragile after 3 minutes of 'Listening To The Frogs With Demon Eyes' ? Just saying, that's all (love to view hardened fan's faces reading such an insult, lol). Lazy me wishes to be Star Trek transported into a live concert ! Wow, predictive text is having a field day (had to re-read it that many times).
