I've lived here all my life...the 80s we were skint but it was a community....it's all gone now...thanx 4 this vid
I love these videos, brilliant film record of Stockton, so thankful to people who put these on UA-cam, so many memories 😊
I now live in the US but I remember Stockton in the 80's and loved it. Wish I could go back in time.
This is incredible. The footage of the Newport Bridge was taken just literally days after my family and I emigrated to Australia. These images are exactly as I remember my home down nearly 23 years later and they are the very streets I used to play in and walk to school down. The white van at 16:32 is on the corner where my Nan used to live! So many memories just came flooding back. Thank you for putting this up.
Mrs B H .... Wish I could go back in time...Loved the 1980's and its how I remember it..!
would be great to go back just for a day
Brilliant footage. Watched this over and over again. Brings back so many memories. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
The shops on the corner of Fagg Street bring back some memories from when I attended Mill Lane School, infants and juniors until 1966 . The first was Peter Trevors, a newsagent/tobacconist who also sold Dinky cars, I remember he had the display with all 75 vehicles on it which I desperately wanted. Next to that was a sweet shop which was run by 2 elderly ladies, and them the next 2 were 1 big shop that originally sold clothes, but was changed into a pet shop. The shop on the corner of Dixon Street was a general store that seemed to sell everything that you could ever need.
I'd completely forgot Safeway was where the Mecca Bingo is now! And the Fiesta club in its Henry Afrikas stage!
Watching the Newport Bridge was awesome! Brilliant video :)
Charlie browns tyres ,exhausts, batteries and basic services, used to do a £14.99 deal on oil n filter changes ,and the little petrol station was always the cheapest per litre in the area -Charlie browns has stood empty for donkey's years -great footage
thanks , im glad you enjoyed it
nice to see the BOARD INN again, loved that pub.
pint of john smiths please betty.
Great video thanks, lots of stuff changed...not for the better!,
Here in Stockton California we have Safeways too. And draw bridges nearby too.
It is now a bingo hall (same building) next to a casino, the Newport bidge is now fixed as the Tees Barage means no tall shipping needs to go through the bridge. Safeway was bought out by a bigger supermarket about the time this video was published.
I was born in Stockton on Tees and my uncle Harry moved to Stockton San Francisco. I visited Stockton SF in 2012.
The Malleable Club looks exactly the same 🤣

Great trip back in time to when I was a teenager
Amazing video, thank you
your welcome glad you like it .. i remember doing it all those years ago
I can see my house in Grangefield 9 years before I moved in.
Superb video! Well worth seeing Newport bridge open. Also interesting to see Portrack Incinerator briefly on there as well next to Newport bridge. Do you by any chance have any video of Portrack Incinerator being demolished?
Good to see a brief glimpse of Holy Trinity Church before it was devastated by fire.
thanks so much for this
So nostalgic. Born in that end of town at what was the Robson Maternity Home, turned into the Stork Hotel (I think). Mickey Walsh used to cut my hair in his wee shop. My mam used to work at the Classic Cinema (pictured as a Cannon cinema in this vid). We lived in Gayles Street (long demolished) outside toilet etc. Moved to Hardwick when I was about five, went to English Martyrs Primary, then Our Lady and St Bedes. Good times, for the most part.
I was born in the Robson maternity in February 1966. Oxbridge Lane infants 1971-1973. We moved to Merseyside summer 1973. We never forget our 1st childhood homes do we😊
I was born in the Robson maternity home in May 1964. My parents owned a house in Park Road. I went to the Norton School and then Blakeston comp. Been in Poole Dorset forty years but will move back to Stockton next year. Great vid. Can't wait to move back.
is that flyns fishing shop 12:50 !
Stockton on Tees looking like it's just about to piss down again. Rain, rain, go away, come back another day. Thornaby is more sunny. But you get dazzled and step out into the road.
and to top it all its pissing down as i type this...
I remember all this on all 3 vids mate including the little video shop opposite Wrensfield road all those houses were flooded in 2012 where you suggest going to the station and pass the white van. Those to girls in part 2 seem familiar I used to life in elm house by princess street. That house on the right hand corner has gone see the timer at 6 .33 minsHills opposite the demolished tilery have also gone too
henry Africa used to be the fiesta
Was also Black Cats.
My first visit to a night club was the Fiesta in 1979.
I also recall drinking in the American tavern in the middle of 3 car parks and that old gun shop.
Thompsons
I went to mill lane junior school.. i remember buying my beano .newsagents outside school back late 60 early 70s
Wow. I remember Safeway
drove that road many a time
Hello
Here at Ricochet we're producing a new series for the BBC entitled 'Family Finders' where we follow the stories of successfully reunited family members. One of our contributors comes from Stockton on Tees and we would love to illustrate his memories with some footage from this film? Might this be possible? If so might you be able to get in touch with me at Ricochet on 'cath.pick@ricochet.co.uk'- many thanks for reading! Cath
Cath Pick hi cath

1989 was the most depressing year in the entire history of humanity. In terms of St Life and bar life and nightlife. And sex life. And the music? It was fucking shit.
i agree on the night life . but the sex was all over the place . music was shite like
