story 1: nta. usually I would not support ruining chances of adoption but I think it's cruel to separate a young mama from her baby especially when they don't need a lot to keep their child.

Story 2. These are very complicated feelings resulting from the trauma of what happened. I don't want to say you're the AH, because these are feelings you can't help, but the way you talk about the ordeal is very self-centered and doesn't consider what she went through, and it's her body so you can't force her to get the scar treated. But no matter what, you are never selfish or a bad person for feeling what you naturally feel. Ever. Period. The best advice I can give you is to talk to your wife and a different therapist and try to find the source of your feelings of immasculinity ( possibly from not being able to protect her? ) and bitterness. I wish you the best of luck and hope you can all live your lives happily and peacefully.

Husband would only be gone for 4-5 days. The baby is 8 months. They'll be fine.

How was the brother cruel to the mom? She litterely singed the adoption papers herself with full consent. No one was forcing her.
Yes the sister was kind to the young mom and she did the right thing. But it is absolutely reasonable for the brother to be mad.

The one about the husband wanting to travel, you’re the AH. You had a talk and agreed to let him travel and even said you knew your baby would be in good hands. He seems to be an amazing father and you were wrong for breaking your promise. Seems to me like OP has attachment issues

Story one- Complicated (If she didnt want her child she didnt want it. Why would u go out ur way to do that if she already agreed on a different situation. story one isn't that complicated sometimes you don't have options on what to do she didn't have enough money to take care of the baby before it was born so she had to choose the best option for the baby
The second story is complicated surgery is scary for most people so I don't think it's ok to force her to do it but they should communicate with each other and I get why he feels like less of a man because he couldn't protect her but it isn't masculine to want to cheat but everyone has a right to their feelings I guess
