I like the idea of using a pill bottle and small screen to contain the fibers. I think I will modify my old one ( just an open basket screen) to match yours. Well done!

    Excellent.
A couple of quibbles ... I'd've turned the bottle around, stuck it through the plastic and had the sieve stuck to the closed end (with a big hole in it, of course.) That way, you can fill the bottle from the top without flexing the wire and the join to the sieve. That's a point of failure, I would have thought.
You can make a hole quicker with a boring tool like a drilling spade or a hole saw. Heating your knife speeds things up too.

if you paint the board tan or light brown colour saw raw sienna it will look good when putting grass there btw, have you thought of using the dremel tool to cut the bid instead of the stanley knife? looking good now this is what im looking for!

Lovely, relaxing music. Great tuturial. If i use larger batteries for more volts, will the results be even better?

    • @KillBoxScalemodelling

Thanks. The design is limited to ~2kV output voltage. Increasing the output voltage would require a total redesign. The easiest workaround is to buy a negative ion generator and use that instead.

If you find the centre of the lid and use the correct size hole saw.. If it's to small you can file or trim to fit.
Saves drilling 20 holes in the lid. 👍

Yes, that would work, but unfortunately I didn't have a suitable hole saw, so I had to do it like this... :P

how may I determine which wire should go to the metal sifter or the base if there is no +ve and -ve sign on the circuit board? I just want to know how to determine where the wires should go and sometimes there are 3 wires on the board. Thanks very much.

If you look at 3:44 in the videoclip there are two wires that should go to the outer mesh and one wire that goes to the inner mesh. The two outer meshes is the -VE and the center is the +VE.
If you feel comfortable with reading schematic diagrams and have an understanding of electronics, this video clip explains the circuit in great detail.
      ua-cam.com/video/yGR2G4qHm6g/v-deo.html
The big 2kV capacitor on the output is connected to diodes (which are part of the voltage multiplier circuit) - the side with the Catode connected to the 2kV cap is +VE and the side which has a Anode connected is -VE. The diodes are marked with printed ring on the Catode side the other side is Anode.
Hope this help you. Remember that this is a high voltage circuit so be careful.

I wonder if you rub a blow up balloon to create static, pass it over grass, would it stand on end. As if you do it with small ripped paper, it stands on end.

    • @KillBoxScalemodelling

No it's plastic fibres, they are used a lot by model railroad builders (that's where I first saw it). Check out manufacturers like Noch, Woodland Sceneries and War World Scenics on the web
