Houken described as a plot device instead of a person isnt crazy. His role was to explain how Ouki the quintessential General could be outsmarted and killed, not realizing that a warrior on Houkens level was present. But I think he serves to highlight Ouki mostly for the first several hundred chapters. I did enjoy the comparison between a pathfinder seeking ultimate martial might vs a general who is fighting for his men and country. I also think Houken served as a well needed conclusion of something in the long stretch of the Zhao conflict leading up to Han stuff currently. I agree he is a plot device. But he also adds a bit of extended fantasy into the world along side Kyoukai. The Bushin!
Well, in the west. In Japan it's stupidly popular, that's why it's so bizarre that it's never recieved an english translation. Iirc it literally sells better than Berserk, Vagabond, and Vinland.
I love how they make the generals, great and small feel like genuinely great individuals with responsibility that they take so confidently on their shoulders.
The series does a great job exploring different types of generals. Evil, neutral, and good. The different approaches and how they interact with another is super interesting to me
And then there is Shin. I gotta ask, does he stop being a complete dunce anytime soon after the first 300 chapters? Because it kinda gets annoying how all his rivals know strategy, and he doesn't at all. He'd be nowhere without Kyou Kai or Ten. It really hampers my enjoyment of the manga.
Great vid G...Kingdom is definitely a pillar of Seinen Manga anf my all time fav right next too 20th century boy's ,Monster and of course the king of shounen One Piece
@WalkingTheShelf well I'm subed with notifications on..🙏🏿 hopefully you give them a try..(Pluto) is alot shorter and is also a really good read by Naoki Urasawa

It doesn’t really seem like you’re disagreeing with me too much tbh. I don’t completely agree with your response but I mostly do.
The most underrated greatest manga ever
Shin is a super underrated protagonist too
Facts
It's shameful that kingdom is underrated like that

He uses a sword style no other general does that alone is OP since the sword style(Rasen) is very efficient when mastered to the fullest
Glad to see someone talking about this masterpiece, you won a subscriber, keep making a kingdom content
