That's how in theory should work but apparently it's a bit more complicated to get gambesons done. One problem I had and I read that more ppl. had too is that even doing what you said isn't working. It looks like the problem is that your villagers needs go first and once you have enough linen in the market stall, you will be able to craft it.
In my village I have 35 families (including those 2 families living in the manor) and once I got >30 linen is when they started to craft them.

Hmm that's odd, maybe they'll fix it because it's still in early access and they are changing it often

@@ConCon you're right, it's early access so new things will be add and other things will be fixed or improved. I read there is a huge update incoming but can't remember the news and this one should be one, deciding who goes first for some supplies. More micromanaging but that's the point of this game, at least that's the reason I bought it.

Only level 2 houses can use gambesons. If you want more people to use gambesons you will have to upgrade houses.
