Way better sounds than Roland (with the exception of their newest module that sounds great finally). In this price range, the yamah Dtx 6 & 8 kits, the Efnote 3, and this kit are great choices.
Akesis always had better sounds than Roland. You mention the Efnoye 3 is also a good choice. I have the Efnote 3x and it I'd phenomenal. The Efnote 3 is a full shell kit but is only a five piece. It has the hi-hat on the rack and the crash and ride cymbals are small. The Efnote 3x is more of a pad based kit but all the drums look like nice concert toms. The cymbals on the 3x are larger and more realistic to play. The hi-hat is on a stand.
Overall a pretty good offering from Alesis! I wish they'd offer more neutral colour options though, not everyone is going to be a fan of a red wrap with gold tension rods and black rims.
A dedicated snake cable is included for the standard 8 inputs, which plugs into the back of the module. But there are 2 additional inputs on the module for expansion.
This is basically a smaller version of the Strata prime e-kit. The pads and cymbals are slightly smaller especially the bass drum. Amd you get one less floor tom. The Alesis Strata Core may be a more compact a bit more affordable e-kit but the Strata Prime e-kit looks more impressive. All in all with the Strata Core I think Alesis is going in the right direction rather than improving their lower-end budget friendly e-kits.
BFD has been around forever, but it's known as the lowest quality VST compared to the massively Superior (see what I did there?) industry leading Toontrack, and then second Steven Slate, then Addictive drums and on from there. I'll be interested to see if this kit breaks constantly like the Strike nightmare that was, so we'll see.
Yes smaller pad sizes all around including the cymbals and high hat. Module has less trigger inputs, a cable snake and only 2 outputs. In my opinion its about $500 over priced

Nah Roland is still trash
@@Iamadrummer now the new Efnote 3 (2024) has a proper two-piece 12 inch hit-hat, so it's a great alternative as well
@@RockyTop85 Roland has its uses, and make great hardware that lasts, but I think they’re overrated compared to several other brands.

i want one!
Are there less sample layers?
Where are the inputs for the drum pads?

I've always been holding back on upgrading my kit because I don't want to pay for the sounds on the module
Charging more money and taking stuff away is a curious choice by Alesis, I hope it works out for them
One floor tom was removed from the Prime, and the Core’s price is reduced by $1500. Am I missing something?

They’re not charging more money, they’re charging less money lol
toms still sound absolutely awful! disappointing how little e drums have advanced, specifically the machine gun sounds
Would you say that’s true about the toms played at 6:53 ?
They actually sound pretty good to me! And I'm critical of electronic drum sounds in general.
