Agree completely they are awesome to add color and flavor but too much of anything you know not so much. For the average music listener overuse may be less palatable, and for musicians it's a risk of coming off pretentious.
Nice video BTW - you have a knack for explaining topics in simple and creative terms.
Thank you so much! :-)
Excellent video!
fark i love germans thanks man
Haha, thank you! :-D
Thnx bro❤
So is simple blues rhythm syncopated?? Though it has all downbeats.. but they are preceded by offbeats.. hmmmmm.
pam pa-pam pa-pam pa-pam..
thanks for the question! this is actually called a "Shuffle" rhythm. You can find an explanation video of that on my channel as well.
Thank you so much
I have my first year tests next wk and was really struggling with this so thank you for explaining it way better than my teacher.
Keep up the good work❤
Great series! Can't wait to see a new video on muzical terms and concepts!
Thanks so much! We will see if I can find more terms and concepts where there are misconceptions, then I might do some more.
Maybe short ones as #shorts .... ;-)
Superb presentation! Thank you!
A fabulous explanation. I got it in one.
Thank you for making this. Helped me understand right away.
Glad it helped! Pass it on ;-)
thank you, I've been getting into Funk styles now have a better understanding of this groove style.
Great to hear!
Excellent video, I like that you say with more syncopation comes decreased danceability, that the listener does not expect those beats, and to use it wisely.
Also, when bands have drummers that use syncopation all the time, it means you must listen to the album many times to figure out the rythm of a song and be able to "dance" / sing or move along (I'm now thinking about a couple of death metal bands with those "highly unpredictable" rythms/drums).
And I liked your warning at the end, that the drummer can lose track of the rythm himself if using a lot of syncopation
Thank you very much!
Yes, use it wisely. But sometimes it is even required. A high skill is to play very syncopated but still convey the feeling of Groove and "play" the beat, without emphazising it. Some Jazz and Funk drummers are amazing at this.
