Agree completely they are awesome to add color and flavor but too much of anything you know not so much. For the average music listener overuse may be less palatable, and for musicians it's a risk of coming off pretentious.

Thanks so much! We will see if I can find more terms and concepts where there are misconceptions, then I might do some more.

Excellent video, I like that you say with more syncopation comes decreased danceability, that the listener does not expect those beats, and to use it wisely.
Also, when bands have drummers that use syncopation all the time, it means you must listen to the album many times to figure out the rythm of a song and be able to "dance" / sing or move along (I'm now thinking about a couple of death metal bands with those "highly unpredictable" rythms/drums).
And I liked your warning at the end, that the drummer can lose track of the rythm himself if using a lot of syncopation

      Thank you very much!
Yes, use it wisely. But sometimes it is even required. A high skill is to play very syncopated but still convey the feeling of Groove and "play" the beat, without emphazising it. Some Jazz and Funk drummers are amazing at this.
