I remember watching this when it first came on HBO back in the 90s n then I recorded it on a VHS tape when it came on again n after i record it I watch it over n over almost everyday non stop basketball was more fun n cool back then especially playing basketball too lol 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️🤣😆🤣😆😎😎😎😎
I did exactly the same. I was 14 years old. I nearly had it memorized. Although I haven't seen it in 25 years, I can still remember so much of the narration. Wow! Such great memories.
@@CUNextTues yea I learn how u to do the sky hook too by watching this too n other stuff n also I learn how to dunk like Michael Jordan n play like Magic Johnson too lol
Good documentary, but no mention of the ABA? They did a lot to eventually change the NBA (the three-point shot, a more wide-open style of basketball, not to mention four of its teams and its best players joining the NBA).
Nice program hosted by Pat Riley. Hall of Famers featured: Bob Cousy,Red Auerbach,Nat Clifton,Bill Russell,Bob Pettit,Connie Hawkins, Dolph Schayes,Bob Davies,Joe Fulks,George Mikan,Elgin Baylor, Jerry West,Oscar Robertson,Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Dave Cowens,Artis Gilmore,Bob Lanier,Rick Barry, Wes Unseld,Earl Monroe,Willis Reed,Bill Sharman,Wilt Chamberlain,Pete Maravich, Larry Bird,Magic Johnson,Tom Heinsohn, John Havlicek, Hal Greer, Michael Jordan,Bill Walton,Nate Thurmond,Isiah Thomas,Julius Erving.
In the inner city of on hardwood NBA floor. There more places then that to play. On the side of barns in ten dirt in rural America to parks in the suburbs...bball is played everywhere..don't forget who created the game..it was a Candian but it's an American Game.
Kareem not yet reached the pinnacle of his career in Milwaukee? Please. He was the most dominant center in the league from day one with the Bucks & in all 5 seasons he played there including NBA MVP awards in 1971, 1972 & 1974. The 1971 Bucks were hardly even mentioned in this documentary yet they were one of the greatest teams in NBA history. To say that Kareem didn't reach his peak until he arrived in LA is pure rubbish! Who writes this nonsense!
Rest in Peace to NBA Legend, Bill Russell from the Boston Celtics 🍀🌹🙏🏀
And Elgin Baylor, Wes Unseld, Willis Reed,Wilt Chamberlain,Darryl Dawkins,John Havlicek and Red Auerbach.
Rest In Peace to all those legends and hall of famers who have a great contribution from the game of basketball and the NBA🙏🙏
It's been 75 years of NBA basketball magic. 🏀 ⛹️ 🎽 🇺🇸 🇨🇦

Same here. Parents recorded it and I wore it out. I learned how to do a skyhook shot when I was seven years old from watching this doc.
@@castorpollux5972 yea me too I can remember it without watching the tape but I still watch it anyway lol

Sorry man, DOC doesn't get enough love.
@@oluhamilton2121 probably because basketball was a little different back then than is it now
This has to be a re-upload! I remember commenting on this beautifully written amazing story about the greatest indoor game ever invented

Of all people mentioned above:
How many of them had 5 rules changed by the NBA to hinder their game!
Pat Riley is killin it right now
Sounds good
