    I remember getting my first A1200 accelerator in the mid-90s - I couldn't believe how much force it required to install! I also had no idea how important Fast RAM was, and was flummoxed when the new CPU seemed to perform no better than the built-in one. And not being clear on the correct orientation for the FPU and how the clocking should be configured. Oh, I remember having that problem where it starts up too fast to detect the internal hard drive too. :)
    I'm watching this video on a Linux machine but I just caught myself trying to type Amiga-M to switch programs. :) Thank you for sharing your Amiga enthusiasm!

    I love your excitement there, it reminds me of when I used to purchase new hardware/games/software for my Amiga back then (ordering by phone because Internet wasn't a thing yet!), with my hard earned money as a teenager.
    Moments so special that needed me about an hour (or even more) to just open the boxes and read everything before using the stuff that I've been waiting for months or years.
    Only Amiga makes this happen again even today, with us being used to orders just a few clicks and 24h shipping away.
    I sometimes also purchase something for my A1200, like a PCMCIA ethernet card some years ago, or a CF/IDE adapter with a CF card a few years later.
    It's so nice to go back to it every once in a while, tweak it a bit, play with it, improve it.
    Although I'm pretty happy with my Blizzard 1240@40 and 32MB FastRAM (the pc I'm writing this with has 32GB XD), I also look after the day the Vampire will finally come. I've been waiting so much for a graphics card but it was (and still is) so expensive that I never really purchased one. Damn, the money for the Vampire are sitting there for so long now, and the day that it'll finally happen, I'll probably be as excited as you were in this video :D

    Grats on 1233. I got the same card, and had exactly the same problem. Almost had a heart attack when I got a blank screen. Then I cleaned the connector (same way) and it works ever since. It was funny to see the same issue.

    128 MB is actually 134,217,728 bytes (128 x 1024 x 1024) so as you can see 132,644,272 is right for having 128 MB installed with some of it being used already by the system.

    HI all
    I have fitted a Motorola 68882 FPU to my ACA 1233n card. It went ok I used sockets for the FPU chip and the crystal, you have to cut the legs of the crystal for it to fit.
    The crystal is a bit high, but to fit them in a socket means you can take them out if need. I put a 40mzh chip and crystal on the card.

    Hi an update I have fitted the FPU I had to solder a socket into the card and I out a 50mzh onto it. It runs lovey games run very good. I also put in a kickstart rom for Workbench 3.1.4 and up grades. I use a socket for the FPU so I can take it out if needed for some software.

    I also call these AKKAH, rather then A.C.A, it just sounds better to me. I wouldnt bother getting an FPU for it, as only a small few lightwave programs and Vista Pro type things work with it, and no games unfortunately. The only difference between the 40mhz version and the 25mhz version may be the clock crystal on board. I bought a 25mhz Blizzard 030 and fitted a 50mhz crystal, and then thing worked fine at 50mhz. I also use a tiny DiskMaster type program instead of DOpus sometimes, as its only 11k it will fit on to most disks for debugging. I think its called Amiga Util 2 or something.

    @MsMadLemon - so now you've had it for almost a year, how are you finding it? Have you had to perform any of the capacitor modifications (Individual recommends removing some due to timing fixes) or have you had no issues?

      @MsMadLemon  6 років тому +1

      Actually, almost 2 years :o)
      i'm finding it just fine, I had the timing fix already done on my A1200 while getting it recapped so i didnt need to perform any modifications. Its running just how it should.

      Did you know that Individual Computers (icomp) is known to blackmail resellers like Vesalia?
      If they include products he doesn't like into their stock, he will then not supply these resellers with his products anymore. You can call it unfair monopoly. This kind of attitude is killing Amiga and that is why I will not buy anything from Jens until he stop harming Amiga products of others😠 Besides there are much better performing Amiga accelerators than this, like Vampire V2.

    Hi all I am going to fit a FPU to my one it will be a 40mzh one.
    A seller on ebay who does new trap door covers Ventilated ones. What he does is fits a socket to the card so you can swap out. He goes by the name of thedarkforest78, have a
    look at what he does. He was helped me a lot.
    So I have managed to get a FPU socket now to get a socket for the Crystal oscillator. The only fine soldering I have done is a GPO port on a Raspberry Pi Zero W.

    Hello,
    Love your videos. Have you installed the current beta tools "ACA1233n.library"? If so any thoughts?
    I have been using the ACA1221ec.Works great except I have to hold down the left mouse button every time I freakn boot. (Yes, "Freakn" is part of my vocabulary as well). Decided I wanted to install OS 3.9. So , I ordered the ACA1223n.

    • @MsMadLemon
      @MsMadLemon  7 років тому

      Hello, thank you! .. I havent actually installed that Library yet but I will and see how it is.
      My friend has got the ACA1221ec and I think is having exactly the same problem as you, (you cannot boot from cold right?) he's thinking about sending his Amiga away for a timing fix, i've never had this with the 1233n but then i've had a timing fix done as well as recapping. If you could, could you let me know if you have the same issue or not once you get the ACA1233n please?

    • @donmaines
      @donmaines 7 років тому +1

    did you managed to get your accelerator working to 50mhz .. not sure if there's a code or a script file to run to unlock (not really clued up on new accelerators) ... but never the less your Amiga boots a lot faster than bog standard 1200 ;) if you wanted to stop the disk drive clicks once workbench has fully loaded .. No not to 50Mhz, the only thing I know is ACATune and I discover it´ not compatible with my card. Yeah i´ finding my way around the new accelerators also. Haha yes it made a huge difference, things load quicker, processing time cut down . Actually i´e recently reinstalled my system and included classic WB, that comes with a clicky stopper, I used to use nonclick before that. Funny the one I have now, it´ reduced but you can hear the click very very faintly haha I kinda like it.

    I got an aca 1233n too, and acatune is not compatible with it. Check the manual or the wiki.

    • @MsMadLemon
      @MsMadLemon  7 років тому

      The manual or the vendor encourages to download ACAtune, however the ACAtune manual doesn't mention 1233n. Some functions like Maprom are automatically enabled on the 1233n apparently. I am a little confused with this.

    • @MelFredriksson
      @MelFredriksson 7 років тому +1

      wiki.icomp.de/wiki/Amiga_Accelerators
      ACAtune is a tool that will let you activate and deactivate certain functions of our accelerators. Please note that ACAtune has been the general tool for our accelerators until 2015. Starting with the release of the ACA1221 in 2015, this tool will not be maintained any more. It's functions are now replaced by more specific tools and libraries. If you own an ACA1233n or ACA1221EC, don't even bother to download this tool - it won't support your new card.

    • @MsMadLemon
      @MsMadLemon  7 років тому +1

      Right, though the confusing part for me was that Amigakit (where I got this) had an option to bundle the ACAtune on a disk alongside the 1233n (or alternatively download it).. Aah well, now I know, thanks for the info!
