    To restart BIOS in older motherboards you just have to pull out the battery that is in your motherboard. Just an advice if anyone was looking for that.

    • @dedpxl
      @dedpxl 8 років тому +3

      they usually have some pins you can touch with a screwdriver to trigger a reset from the bios shorting. it's better than pulling up the battery IMO.

I there any way to fix my problem.

    • @thomasscheeringa524
      @thomasscheeringa524 8 років тому

      You can oc it but it will make your cpu's lifetime shorter bc u push it beyond what is normal. I think you'll still be fine

    • @TheMilleniumSurfer
      @TheMilleniumSurfer 8 років тому

      No, its lifespan will only be shorter IF the temperature of your cpu is over 65 C. It doesn't loose lifespan from being "pushed beyond normal", it loses lifespan if it gets too hot.

    Running an i5 6600k and managed to get it to 4.2Ghz stable at 1.250 volts.
    I'm also using a Corsair H75 liquid cooler in a BeQuiet Silent Base 800 case. My cpu temps max between 60-65 degrees in the stress test.
    I tried pushing it to 4.3 at 1.280 volts and 4.4 and 1.305 volts but the clock speed didnt stay consistent in the stress tests, and it struggled to stay at those speeds full time. Whereas with 4.2 I'm getting pretty much consistent clock speeds so I stuck with that. Also to note I built my PC in January 2017 so its had 4 years use in stock settings.
    I just want to me able to play Cyberpunk 2077 smoothly. Recently upgraded my graphics to a gtx 1660 super and overclocked my ram with XMP to ddr4 @3200mhz (16GB).
    FIngers crossed the 6600k overclocked will cut it!

    Thanks Paul........ I recently upgraded to a 4790K thanks to the Intel Retail Edge program and thanks to your videos and a few others know I don't need to upgrade at all. As for overclocking I havn't had too much luck, but I wasn't expecting much out of my Devils Canyon processor since in a way it's overclocked out of the box. Most videos at the time of it's release never got an overclock above 4.7GHz and it boosts to 4.4GHz out of the box. Using a Coolermaster T4 which works rather well, I may try to OC again with the tips in this video, you explained it rather well.

    • @adrianwarner8686
      @adrianwarner8686 9 років тому

      Personally is of no use to me.
      Only a casual gamer (Quake 3, SImCity 4, FarCry 4 i.e low cpu requirements) mostly use it for going online, watching movies etc. So my i5 4430 is plenty for a while yet. For people into rendering and streaming may well be of use. But then the 9350 is shed loads cheaper. For gaming unless someone has an ancient CPU investing in a newer GPU would be a far better investment.
      Always used to use AMD, on Intel now purely as bought the pc off a friend who made it then wanted a PS4. Otherwise would prob still be on AMD.
      To sum up, I enjoy seeing what's going on but this isn't a game-changing release. Interested to see what the Zen turns out to be, but AMD are not in a good way right now so needs to be more energy efficient to be suitable for cross platform use. Intel doing well as the CPU's are cooler and more energy efficient so more suitable for laptops etc.
      Just my opinion of course......

      What fear mongering nonsense! My 6700K stock VCore was close to 1.28V.
      I've been running 4.5Ghz at 1.35V for 2 years without an issue - idle temps in the 28-30C range (H115i) and very good air flow cooling using Noctua iPPC (NF-A14) 120mm fans in pull push orientation.
      I didn't get the best chip, so stable 4.7Ghz needed 1.42V and was producing a little more heat than 4.5Ghz.
      The extra 200Mhz was just not worth it and I could care less about the never ending pissing contest on overclocks that won't make much more than a frame or 2 difference in most games.
      Intels own documentation says max voltage for skylake is 1.52V, so as long as you have a good water cooling solution and you can get your chip stable at 4.7 or 4.8Ghz there's no problem going to 1.4V for daily use.
      Many will say 1.4V is on the high end, and it is getting there, but if you have good cooling chances are much higher that you will upgrade your CPU a LONG time before it's "massively killed".

    I have the z170-E board 16gb corsair veng ddr4 at 2993mhz, i5 6600k clocked at 4.6 ghz, I Benched at 4.7 but voltages would jump to 1.5 and it became unstable after couple hours of gaming. I have it cooled with a corsair h55 liquid cooler and chassie fans bringing air in from front and back, along with 1 exhaust on top just above where the CPU is and another exhaust on side for my GPU. Temps are around 40-50c under a gaming load. I am running a corsair 750w psu and a gtx 1060 gpu. I just built this setup about a month ago first ever custom build so far I am very happy with it.

    One year later for this video, I am running the 6700k, though I never used Bios to OC my cpu, I went with the AI Suite 3 from Asus, it overclocks it quite well as it got me to 4.6Ghz as well, and better yet it doesn't keep it consistently at that frequency, it lowers it when my pc sits at idle so temps don't spike too high, but of course if I start using programs it goes back up to that OC frequency

    Cool vid, Paul! Also, got a nice system so far but still not where I want it to be, currently got this:
    • Asus Z170 Pro Gaming.
    • Intel i7 6700K. (With a dab o' Arctic MX-4 on it.)
    • Corsair H60 120mm. (More on that in a bit.)
    • DDR4 Corsair Vengeance LPX 2133 Mhz.
    • Asus GTX 980 Ti Strix.
    • 2 x OCZ Vertex 3 128 GiB. (Old, from the era where you paid a small fortune for tiny SSDs.)
    • Samsung 850 Evo 500 GiB. (New, tired of the limited space of the Vertex 3's.)
    • Corsair RM1000. (Probably way overkill, but hoping to get another GTX 980 Ti.)
    Now... This is all cramped into an old Antec 900, first gen, so sadly something like a Corsair H100/110 or similar wouldn't fit, hence the H60 for now. Which is also just using the stock fan on one side for now. I plan on getting a H110 once I have my new case later on, for which I have my eye on a Corsair C70, but since that'll be about €300.- later, it'll have to wait for now.
    Anyway, to the point, now that you know my computer a bit, how much could this be overclocked for now? 4.4? 4.5? Also, my memory is just the standard 2133 Mhz, idea to get something faster or not really necessary?

A question: even after this overclock, which to me seems like a large one, the temperature stayed at round 40 degrees C during gaming. Can I overclock a bit more? How do I know that I'm approaching a dangerous limit with my overclock? Thank you!

    I'm on a first generation i7 cpu (920), which I managed to overclock to a stable 3.5GHz, with 24GB of DDR3 1600 underclocked to 1487 or something to allow cpu overclock. I'm cooling it with the Corsair Hydro H110i.
    My motherboard is the Asus P6T LGA1366, not sure about the chipset, but it worked well for almost 8 years. I'm hoping to retire it in 2017, at least as my main pc.
    Maybe reset to stock clockspeed and install a simple air cooler, add a cheap gpu and run in eco mode to use as a backup pc or for file storage and network sharing.
