I use CLR drain cleaner to flush systems out. It works great. First dose run truck and let it sit overnight. Then flush a couple times the next day.

Put an air cleaner on it to keep mice, birds, and pine needles out!

Great job, you have a lot going on. Very enjoyable to watch from England. You also have the same weather always raining when you have outside work to do.😂

I read 'convoy' on the door, reminds me of the late 70s movie. We watched it over and over with a friend of mine when we were 7 years old. Never heard of that movie since

The front sheet metal/grille style of your White, do you know the year White started with this design, and the year ended? I think that design carried into the 1950's

Lol, You don't wear off the rust on brake drums with the brakes to get them operable. You wire brush it off with a power tool. And you should have took the front hubs off, cleaned, de-rusted, and inspected All the parts, then applied a rust preventing primer. You can disassemble the suspension leaf springs too to de-rust and paint prime them, and the frame, and the . . . rest of the truck. A good mechanic is thorough, is not lazy or impatient. Quality work ensures the safety of the driver and the public who shares the road they drive on. The DOT requires mechaically proficient brakes on a mechanically viable truck before the Truck can go down the road. The timing and air-fuel mixture is out of adjustment on the engine.
If that has a 3-speed auxiliary you split shift the 2nd and 3rd auxiliary gears into your main shift pattern. That is why your engine bogged down when you were shifting.
    1 main - 1 auxiliar is your heavy pull gear. Unloaded you start in 1:2, to 1:3, to 2:2, to 2:3, 3:2 to 3:3, 4:2 to 4:3, 5:2 to 5:3.
The clutch is only needed start moving, and for reverse. Speed shift he rest. When shifting up you feather rpm down from your last gear until the gears) slip in. When gearing down you feather the rpms up until the gear(s) slip in.
When you go from 1:3 to 2:2, you pull the main out of 1, shift aux from 3 to 2, then the main into 2. The same for 2:3 to 3:2, 3:3 to 4:2, and 4:3 to 5:2.
That auxiliary shifter needs to be closer to the driver and on a longer shifting rod to be of any use going down the road. Using your left knee helps keep the steering wheel straight when split shifting.

Am I imagining things or is that a Dodge slant 6? An engine that didn't come out until 1962 in a 49 truck? I'm not a truck guy so that engine might be something other than what it looks like.

You are correct! Someone took out the original white motor and fitted a slant 6 into this truck

In the USA, road signs are not the property of the state? I thought stealing them could result in a fine.

They arent stolen we found a couple in an old scrap pile and took them along with other scrap to use for random projects.

@@Edward-Thaine I've found some in the Neah Bay dump, and gotten ones that were bent or shot up from the road dept. When I have to go under my truck, they're a lot more comfortable to lay on than gravel!
