This is what it look like when the lava was on the move ua-cam.com/video/fIH07RBs9iw/v-deo.html
That footage was nothing short of amazing. Incredible views of #8 and all his steamy little friends, the encircled catchment tank and, of course, our tree. Thank you so much for taking us "up there" to see all this.
Mahalo for watching
I love that tree. Amazing that the catchment tank is there! I wonder if it's the one shown in some of Scott's early videos?
@@jobethk588 it very well could be
Just the other day I was wondering about this site... the media has lost interest in it.. I was so happy to find this video and how things are as of today at this locality... Thank you so much... if regular state side news would at least do a little info it would be nice... oh no, they have to dwell on stupid crap...
A lot of us wonder the same thing. So I try to be honest on what's happening around this eruption
Fascinating to see the aftermath of what I watched daily as it happened. Thank you for documenting such a historical event, even if it wan't "allowed" at the time.
Some absolutely amazing footage here. Great soundtrack too. Outdid yaself mate, so pat yaself on the back. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thank you
Wow have been looking forward to seeing that it's amazing all the different colours that are out there
Hey Jeremiah__ That was ART man! Thanks for showcasing some of the other fissures. #8 always gets the headlines, but I always found the colors of the sulphur and mineral deposits on some of the smaller fissures to be just as awesome to behold. Keep up the fantastic work you are doing. We appreciate all your efforts!
Mahalo
I just watched this video on the big tv - I generally use my iPad, wow what a difference, the colours and texture are something else. Thanks Jeremiah. I will definitely rewatch your other videos this way
I will have to look at it on my tv
Yep, I recognize that tree and the surrounding environs! 😎 Thanks for another great video Jeremiah!
Mahalo for watching
it looks so calm and peaceful now its amazing how deceiving it is
Mahalo, Jeremiah! You seriously just get better and better! This was the best yet, Thank You!
Mahalo
Thanks Jeremiah!
Always interesting and Amazing!
You are Awesome with that drone work of yours:)
Mahalo
great video. So many different shapes. fissure 8 looks eerie to me. Loved our tree
Amazing video! Thanks for sharing the incredible view!
Thank you
that was fantastic filming seeing you stand there really show how deep and big it is awesome drone footage you are a good pilot
Mahalo
After the initial media interest there has been very little follow up. This is a wonderful way to see the changes, thank you.
This was worth the wait. Great big mahalo Jeremiah for this video...it got me out to where I wished I could have gone to for a close look. Wonderful.
Happy you like it
Dude... you da bomb! Can't thank you enough for what you do.
Mahalo for watching
Amazing images, great soundtrack! Thanks for sharing with us.
Wow! Mahalo Jeremiah for the inside of fissure 8, the canyon with people for scale and the 'back side' of 24! That was amazing!
Thank you
SO awestruck by the somber sights shown! THANKS for your skillful sharing!
Thank you for watching
As always, love your work. Nice break from dealing with blizzards, sub-zero temps and roads covered in black ice. Good stuff. Thanks for sharing. From the frozen North🌲🌲🌲 to the warmth of HI 🌴🌴🌴
Once again Jeremiah a great video Mahalo from the 9th Island
Mahalo for watching
Amazing footage! Great work.
Thank you
It keeps getting stranger. Amazing!
Yes it dose
Oh wow! I've been waiting for this video! I saw Scott's video when you did this! It's awesome, Jeremiah! Inside fissure 8 was beautiful with all those different colors! Almost looked like different gem colors on the walls and floor of it! Amazing! And, you got the strong tree, too. Were those big circular holes tree molds? It looked like a moonscape. It was just amazing looking at everything you shot! The canyon was cool looking. Kinda scary how deep it was. A coupla familiar cool people there filming your drone filming them. Neat! This was fantastic footage! Thank you so much for doing this! A one-of-a-kind experience! :-)
Mahalo for watching..the people on the edge was us when I did the live video with Scott
@@StrangeHawaii Yes. I thought so. :-)
Interesting to get a view of water catchment at 4:57--5:24...thanks for update , eerie!
You do an awesome job with your videos. I look forward to each and every one you produce. I have stood at the rim of what we used to call The Grand Canyon in Leilani some years before this eruption. It was sooo much bigger then and of course completely surrounded by and lined with vegetation and trees. When we stood on the rim of it it was so deep that you'd be looking across and down at tops of trees that were growing up from the bottom. Thanks so much. Keep up the good work.
Mahalo for watching
Never seen the canyon before the eruption, so to me it was all new when it happened.
All respect and Aloha to you and yours, Jeremiah! I also really liked your bodyboarding footage at (New) Pohoiki. Took me back to the nice waves I rode there when I lived in Leilani (2013-14).
Mahalo!
james ward III Thanks for sharing your memories of the canyon from before all this happened. It's a fascinating feature and it was very interesting to hear more about it.
@@marenpurves2406 same here
Wow, great views of the fissures and their surroundings. I too appreciate seeing the size of the canyon with respect to people, you and Scott, of course. Really amazing. Mahalo for sharing this excellent drone video. You're an ace pilot!
Thank you
🎞🎞🎞🎞🎖🎖🎖🎖 9:36 of true fascination - great flying as always 👍🏼
Well captured and detailed footage of the rich volcanic sublimations.
Current ground cracks in that exact area are ranging from 185 -210 F
Brilliant as always Jeremiah!
Thank you
Wow I missed this video somehow. Awesome job!!
Mahalo
Love the music!
Mahalo
Thanks so much for doing this. Spent a lot of time watching this fissure.
totally awesome..a volcanic landscape for sure..
Incredible footage Jeremiah.
Mahalo
Very , very nice video! The views are awesome, and I love the fact that with people standing near the 'canyon' we can get a better idea of its depth.
Thank that was me and Scott
Awesome video Jeremiah. You are the drone master. And whoever put that flag at the top of big daddy is an incredibly brave person to venture up there.
Yes there are
I use to live in Leilani Estates in the seventies to 1984. It was beautiful then.
It still is just in a different way
Great views in and around the figures !
Mahalo
Beautiful & amazing as always Jeremiah 👍🏼❤️ sorry I missed the live 😥 I know it’s devastation but I just think it looks beautiful.
Amazing views, thanks for sharing
That was awesome Jeremiah 🤙🏼 Thank you for another great video!
Thank you for watching
StrangeHawaii anytime Jeremiah 😁🤙🏼
Amazing footage of an incredible fascinating landscape, brilliant!
Thank you
Beautifull Jeremiah, Merci, i am sharring this !
Please do
Wow! Thanks Jeremiah! Was great!
Mahalo
Wow Jeremiah! What a great video! You got some wonderfully detailed close-ups, especially inside of F8 and at the entrance to the river. You have such excellent drone control! ~~ Did we get a glimpse of Scott filming at the canyon? I find myself wondering how that big canyon came to be there. I wonder if it could a collapsed former lava tube? ~~ It looks like the tree is really starting to shed limbs now. Guess since it is dead, it won't remain there forever. ~~ Mahalo for such a cool tour!
The second time through, I caught your wave from the side of the canyon. Aloha! Wish I had been able to catch the live but I was at a GriefShare group meeting. I had to watch it the first time in full screen mode then go back and read the chat the second time through. Too much interesting detail to not be in full screen mode the first time.
Yes that was us when we did the live video. And I did wave and it was Scott on the edge
Such a great video👍🏻👍🏻 more please 😍😍 Mahalo
Ok I will
looks like the mountain is still very much active.
Amazing footage, Jeremiah. Thank you so much!
Like another world
Yes it is
That was incredible! Thanks for sharing
Thank you for watching
You find such neat music for your vids!
Thanks It takes me watching the video over and over trying different music that I think people will like
Fabulous work, Jeremiah. Thanks for posting it!
Mahalo for watching
Wow! The mouth of a real dragon.
Thumbs up!! Thanks for sharing
Thank you for watching
When you waved Hi , I waved back :D
Great video, and I cant believe I was able to watch this landscape get formed, with thousands of other people around the world. I remember the way it flowed, and where it went back into the ground, its all amazing, and thousands of years from now creatures might wonder about this very place. Thank you for this amazing video update, its exactly what we wished we could see when it was on fire! and the vents! so cool, more more please :)
Mahalo for watching
Thank you for doing this Jeremiah, this was so cool, amazing how still the drone can hover. This gave us a better idea of how far away you were when you took this footage and we saw the infamous tree 👍 Good to see the ravine and where the steam is coming out from too, great work and perfect music, Mahalo and Aloha 😃
Mahalo for watching
Very, very good video!
Mahalo
I think I’m all up to date after this one 😁
That was so great, thanks Jeremiah!
Mahalo for watching
Amazing, thats was once a subdivision,
Yeah u would never know just by looking
Mother Earth's bandaid!
Wow ... simply awesome dude !!! looks likes some sci fi footage of another planet ! the colors ! you da man ! thanks for sharing !
Thanks for watching
definatley spectaculur shot view over fizzure 8🤙🤙🤙 nature is beautifull
Amazing video , once again.
What is the deal with the flag at the top? Couldn't quite make out which country. is this a hawaian flag to claim the territory?
Also, i terms of the steam, are those expected to be permament steam vents heated by the rift, or are they still residual heat in the lava on surface of ground ?
Hawaiian flag. Not sure how long it will stream or why that is happening
Thank you so much. Nine minutes of epical footage
Mahalo for watching
Hey! I recognize that tree, don't I ?! LOL
Sooooo Goooood
Thank you
Get the ropes...let’s go down in!
Go for it
Great new views of the outside and inside of the Fissure 8 cone! It is really interesting to see what it looks like inside now. The formerly bubbling lava has cooled to an almost peaceful state. In a few thousand years this cone could be eroded and covered with vegetation like Green Mountain. Also neat to see the Hawaii flag that someone placed on the top of it.
Maybe 400 years
wow
I know there's not supposed to be gold on Hawaii but with the red's in that crater I'd still run a few pans!
Another great video. Will this continue to steam for years?
It could steam for years not sure how it works
It looks more like the landscape of an alien planet.
Saaa-Mokin' HOT realestate deals out there
wow.. capture the flag? :D Great Vid. Whats about the road building @pgv? greets frm germany
ua-cam.com/video/O4BdXYre68A/v-deo.html this is the road to pgv
nice job Jeremiah
Mahalo
Freakin Fantastic video with the best soundtrack I've heard in a long while, Jeremiah! Thankyou ! When was this shot?
About a 3 weeks ago
Hello StrangeHawaii. Why the USGS dont have like 100 like this videos? You have done perfect job. Kilauea video will be perfect. Love and Peace.
Mahalo
Excellent video, well done
Thank you
Thumbs up, but I found it more impressive when I muted the music. Maybe something about "show, don't tell".
Ok if that's how u feeling
amazing footage J!!!!
Thank you
Is that Scott W. from Apau Hawaii Tours at 6:30?
Excellent video!
Yeah it was
Looks like a strange far away planet. It may as well be, being far way from Michigan 👍🏻
steam now venting from behind fissure 8 because fissure 8 is plugged up from the lava that filled it up after it slowed down. I am guessing next eruption will start with a rise in the lava flow around fissure 8 unless new lava vents easily from the steaming vents behind it. that would send new lava in a different direction, maybe in large amounts. we have no idea when that may happen. Thanks for this revealing video!
There's still magma lurking down there and the subsurface is still very hot. It is suspected that the magma reservoir will be recharged under the Central Rift Zone and eruptions will resume.
@@kansasthunderman1 It remains a weak spot that area, however we aren't entirely sure where magma will try to exit next time, could be the main kilauea crater, mauna loa or the central rift zone.
@@jedimindtricks7589 It will be interesting to see if the lava lake refills at Halemaumau Crater. It is believed that Halmaumau is above a pipe that leads down to the main magma source which is the mantle plume that powers both Kilauea and Monau Loa.
@@kansasthunderman1 Halemaumau Crater has collapsed and the pipe is probably plugged with rocks, if magma decides to erupt from there it will be an explosive eruption.
@@jedimindtricks7589 There's probably a lot of water getting into the entire underground system which will set off lots of explosions like what happened at Fissure 17.
Great video! Do we know who placed the flag at the rim? Also, didn't the rim have some USGS sensors & equipment at one time?
I don't know who put it there. Usgs maybe put stuff up their but iv never seen any
@@StrangeHawaii Thanks for replying!
I think I may have seen USGS equipment on the rim in a video from Scott or Gabe, but it was shortly after Fissure 8 stopped flowing. I thought USGS might have placed a camera there to keep an eye out for any renewed activity, but if they did they didn't make it's feed public. 😟
I love your drone videos & great music choices! 👍
O vulcão kilauea,não está mas em Erupção não? Por favor, respondam aí
No
@@StrangeHawaii ,obrigada meu irmão por me responde, pois desde o dia 3 de maio, quando entrou em Erupção,eu acompanho e fico feliz por esta tudo tranquilo, obrigada
FISSURE 8= NEW VOLCANO
wow, are there any videos of the hot ponds ahalanui since its gone
No I have not made it to the area but I will try and get the drone out there
@@StrangeHawaii thanks Jerimiah , from wales
Thanks Jeremiah!!
Dutchsinse did you see?
Almost looks like a new volcano is forming...
It was a volcano..this area was all houses and now it's all under this fissure 8 till they rename it
@@StrangeHawaii How about "Surprise!" ;)
I watched the entire Building of it on Livecam
Shit, man, this is you best fucking video ever!
Thanks
Makes you wonder what happened to all that Lava and why are the fissures pretty much settled down. What was feeding the main caldra and fissure 8 and where did the lava go? Even if the underground lava tubes collapse where is the pressure going. Scientists cannot even speculate why the activity has all but stopped. They simply have no idea what was feeding the fissures any why all of a sudden all activity has stopped.
We may never know
The theory is that the magma reservoir in the Central Rift Zone (under Halamaumau Crater and PuUoO Crater) drained down hill toward the Lower East Rift Zone near Leilani Estates. This is very similar to what caused the eruption in Kapoho in 1960.
So i see the steam comin up in places. Is that ares still a hot zone?
Thank you for this video update. I hope that those whose houses and property were completely consumed are OK and have a place to call home now. Does the Hawaiian gov't give them property? I wonder how it works when a natural disaster destroys everything you own, including your property, with little to no future prospects of reclaiming the land. Did (or will) the state of Hawaii take control of the area affected by the eruption and floes, and make it all part of Hawai'i Volcanoes Nat'l Park? Curious.
I think they still have their property
Mars looks friendlier and more Terran than this.
Mr J, thanks for another great video. Anyone know who owns Fissure 8.
Mahalo..not sure who owns it
I figure given the size of F8, it may be partially owned by several land owners.
