- Phases of Lab Testing and analyses:
1. Pre-analytical phase includes those processes that affect the laboratory results due to handling of the specimen sample prior to analysis.
2.The analytical phase includes those processes that occur during sample analysis or testing :
verification of instrument linearity,
verification of instrument precision,
verification of instrument accuracy,
verification of reagent lots,
through the use of quality control (QC) samples, procedures, and QC rules.
testing of Samples
3. Postanalytical processes include timely and accurate laboratory result reporting and other aspects that occur after the analysis phase.
Laboratory Variables:
A. Pre-analytical Variables:
I. Controlled variables II Uncontrolled variables
Patient preparation Age, gender, ethnicity, etc.

Laboratory Errors
1.Pre-analytical Errors
Patient misidentification
Specimen mislabeled or unlabeled
Incorrect or compromised specimen
Insufficient Volume
Incorrect Vacuette
Spillage/ leakage
Inappropriate specimen transport conditions
Specimen processed incorrectly
Specimen stored inappropriately before testing
Wrong test(s) ordered
2.Analytical Errors
Analytical errors may be systematic or random
Instrument not calibrated
Instrument precision problem
QC not Done
Reagents not in room temp.
Reagent Expiry
Interfering substances present
Specimens mix - up
Sample Retention
3.Post-analytical Errors
Report not legible
Transcription error
Turn around time delayed
Incorrect interpretation
Sample Retention
Sample Retention
Whole blood, serum & plasma: - 48 hrs after report has been finalized.
Body fluids: - 48 hrs after report has been finalized
Urine - routine - 24 hrs after report has been finalized.
24hr Urines - samples discarded 48 hrs after report has been finalized.
Best explanation.....🎉
What will we do if sodum reagent Qc value is above +2sd in Lj chart
check reagents, qc samples. Rerun qc..if it still is above 2sd, calibrates and rerun
Mam there is a case study, they mentioned the pregnant mother undergone to amniocentesis the L/S ratio is 0.5, the mlt suggest to do urine analysis as well what is the reason for choosing urine analysis? what is the relationship between L/S ratio and urine analysis

Titled
"Laboratory Testing To Assess Fetal Lung Maturity"
Urine examination may be done as per some references to check urinary output or look for certain markers such Glutathione S Transferase and Beta 2 microglobulin to assess renal tubular function that may be affected by hpoxia
@@drbijoyachatterjee755 thank you madam
Ma'am how TAT(Turned around time) is monitored in laboratory?(5 marks)
Plz tell ma'am!.🙏
TAT is the Total Time taken to complete sample analysis and report dispatch after recieving sample in lab.
If sample collection area is away from from area of analysis TAT increases
Madam, could you explain the dose response curve and toxic response curve using graphs?
Mam please help me .. i need your help for understanding million s test,, heat and aciticacid test other all
Millon’s test is specific test for identification of tyrosine. Tyrosine containing Proteins solutions give red colour.
Heat coagulation test is given by Albumin.
Fill 10 ml solun un test tube add 2 drops of 10% acetic acid. Hold the tube in slant position and heat upper portion.
Heat will cause denaturation of albumin, and acetic acid will provide isoelectric pH.
You will notice white coagulum on the upper portion af tube due to denaturation by heat at isoelectric pH.
Thank you mam...... Xythoprotict test please mam .... Tell about something
Same test of heat coagulation can be performed for urine to check presence of albumin.
Albumin is an abnormal constituent of urine known as proteinuria is seen in certain condition such as:-
diabetic nephropathy,
nephrotic syndrome,
glomerulonephritis, to name a few
Xanthoproteic test is a qualitative test for the detection of amino acids containing phenolic or indolic groups like phenylalanine, tyrosine, and tryptophan (aromatic amino acids). Proteins containing aromatic amino acids will give yellow colour and Xantho means yellow and proteic means protein so the name xanthoproteic
