Ok, but really, it'd be kind of heartbreaking. His wife ditched him with Bella when she was a baby, then Bella comes back to Forks when she's 17, hits it off with this Cullen boy, runs away extremely suddenly for some time and comes back injured, then the Cullen boy and his family leave and Bella goes into a very depressive state for months on end, looks like she might be getting a little bit better with Jacob, then suddenly runs off again to save Edward somehow, then Edward comes back, and a few months later Bella and Edward say they want to get married. The new couple leave on their honeymoon, and the next thing Charlie knows is that Bella is ill, but eventually gets better somehow and has a baby that looks suspiciously like him. From Charlie's POV, Bella runs away a lot and gets into a lot more risky and strange behavior and situations after beginning a relationship with Edward.

She left the first movie because she had to protect her dad and made edward take her home to check on her dad . She couldn't help but grow feelings for jacob and kept rejecting him so that he would move on cause she didn't want to play with his feelings . She even thought about moving on from edward to jacob when he disappeared but didn't wanna rush things because she was still thinking of edward and asked him to give her some time. She defends her daughter and protects everyone with her new vampire powers ....but yeah shes a bitch and a player

The fact she has Bella's eyes was a big tip off for Charlie , but then he broke down the baby's name and realized it's Rene (Bellas mom) and Esmee (Edward's mom) name put together. Her middle name is also Carlie which is just Carlisle and Charlie put together.

Yeah I thought that was a huge plot hole too. I mean, in Eclipse when the hikers go missing, Charlie tells Bella that if she ever went missing he would never ever stop looking for her, and in New Moon he goes insane with worry when she takes off to Italy just for two days. Charlie is described in the books stoic and uncomfortable of showing emotion, so even if he was ecstatic about seeing his daughter he wouldn't because that's part of his characterization. As for him not holding her? Even if he asked it would have been too dangerous. Reneesme (sp?) is part vampire (so is quite strong and needs to drink at least some blood in order to survive) and a baby, and a majority of the time when a baby is faced with something new if tends to stick it in their mouths. So a vampire baby is less likely to have control over their impulse in not drinking from a living person.
Because laws of volturri, and Charlie decided that he doesn't need to know everything (in the books). Why not just change Charlie? Because of their treaty with the shapeshifters, bella is an exception but i think the Cullens don't want to again break the treaty for something they could avoid, like not telling charlie.

In the books Bella doesn't see her mother again, which is an unbelievable plot hole in my opinion. I mean, Bella is her mother's only child, plus in the first book she describes her mother as her best friend. Then it's all like "Hey mom, I've got mah man and mah baybee now, so byeeeee!" Renee might be ditzy but she loves Bella more than anything, she would never accept not seeing Bella again

The idea was to never see her father again as well, but they changed that plan once Jacob interfered and revealed the supernatural to him.
Honestly for me Charlie was the only Character that actually stayed good and true to who he is. Of course he's mad/sad/angry and has questions Bella cant even buy Alcohol yet. He definitely deserved better or at the very least learned the truth so he can help the humans who are being murdered by Vampires. Especially when the army was created and all those missing teenagers.

One of the things I never got was the whole idea of renesmee. They never told Charlie "hey by the way this kid grows very quickly and before you know it she will be 8. Honestly, I know in the book Renesmee is described as a very aware and intelligent infant because of what she is. But I would happily have allowed them to miss out that detail and just had her be a normal baby in the film so she didn't look so creepy with all the CGI. I was very thankful they made her a bit older later on in the film than she was in the book and used a proper actress as opposed to the creepy child all the way through.

She could smell him, but it was just in the memory of her father, something like that. So, here's the deal with that. Charlie knows "something" is up, but he is not allowed to know the specifics. As long as Charlie just accepts what he's told, and then doesn't go researching like Bella did, he'll be safe. Though let's say we're after the Volturi incident a few years down the road. While they wouldn't actually do it, it would be relatively safe to possibly tell Charlie, at least for a while. The Volturi don't get out very often, so it would likely be decades before they ever found out, if not a couple of centuries.

I understand she can't really tell him because the Volturi would be after him, but geez she really treated her parents badly especially her dad who tried so hard for her .. And he gets no real explanation at the end of it all.

It just occurred to me that Kristen was wearing contracts through the entire series, because her natural eye colour is green. She had to wear chocolate brown for Human Bella, bright red for Newborn Bella, orange(ish) for Several Months Old Newborn Bella, gold for Vampire Bella and mud brown for Charlie (when she was a newborn trying to hide her red eyes).

Yeah I thought that was a huge plot hole too. I mean, in Eclipse when the hikers go missing, Charlie tells Bella that if she ever went missing he would never ever stop looking for her, and in New Moon he goes insane with worry when she takes off to Italy just for two days. I know the Cullens tell him that she's sick/contagious - any loving dad would just ask what hospital she was in and declare he would go see her even if he had to wear a hazmat suit.

Charlie is described in the books stoic and uncomfortable of showing emotion, so even if he was ecstatic about seeing his daughter he wouldn't because that's part of his characterization.
As for him not holding her? Even if he asked it would have been too dangerous. Reneesme (sp?) is part vampire (so is quite strong and needs to drink at least some blood in order to survive) and a baby, and a majority of the time when a baby is faced with something new if tends to stick it in their mouths. So a vampire baby is less likely to have control over their impulse in not drinking from a living person.

It's like James is a tracker, but Demetri is a God-like tracker. Imagine if Kate or Jane tries to use their gifts on Charlie, he would get hurt, but ONLY very little.

I mean, Bella is her mother's only child, plus in the first book she describes her mother as her best friend. Then it's all like "Hey mom, I've got mah man and mah baybee now, so byeeeee!" Renee might be ditzy but she loves Bella more than anything, she would never accept not seeing Bella again

Honestly for me Charlie was the only Character that actually stayed good and true to who he is. Of course he's mad/sad/angry and has questions Bella cant even buy Alcohol yet. One of the things I never got was the whole idea of renesmee. They never told Charlie "hey by the way this kid grows very quickly and before you know it she will be 8. It won't take 8 Years, but instead maybe 8 weeks or 8 months." He never questioned why she's so big all of a sudden the next time he sees her. At least a better excuse could have been given about her other than she's my niece/daughter.

Honestly, I know in the book Renesmee is described as a very aware and intelligent infant because of what she is. But I would happily have allowed them to miss out that detail and just had her be a normal baby in the film so she didn't look so creepy with all the CGI. I was very thankful they made her a bit older later on in the film than she was in the book and used a proper actress as opposed to the creepy child all the way through.
I remember in the book she explained her fathers’ scent didn’t smell appetizing which Edward and his family feared. She could smell him, but it was just in the memory of her father, something like that. And when Charlie looks at her weird when she hugs him, it’s because she feels like a cold brick in his arms 🤣🤣 book fun facts lol

But in the book, does it not say that newborn vampire Bella finds that her dad's scent is more potent and a more powerful attractant to her, and that it was possibly because he is family to her. So, here's the deal with that. Charlie knows "something" is up, but he is not allowed to know the specifics. As long as Charlie just accepts what he's told, and then doesn't go researching like Bella did, he'll be safe. Though let's say we're after the Volturi incident a few years down the road. While they wouldn't actually do it, it would be relatively safe to possibly tell Charlie, at least for a while. The Volturi don't get out very often, so it would likely be decades before they ever found out, if not a couple of centuries.

I understand she can't really tell him because the Volturi would be after him, but geez she really treated her parents badly especially her dad who tried so hard for her .. I feel so sorry for Charlie. Bella put her feelings for Edward above her own family, put them in danger, fucks off without telling her dad anything and then keeps even more of a distance from him after becoming a vampire. And he gets no real explanation at the end of it all.
