About 32 years ago played on TV in the morning matinee session that series! As a kid We find it disturbing, interesting and amazing in the same time! Same level just as Lucas’s Willow!❤True masterpiece!

I remember watching this with my mom after we rented this from the library when I was a kid, and this episode traumatized the hell out of me and my mom told me that this is what "real" fantasy is like not like how most fantasy films are like nowadays where everyone has powers and being the Chosen One
People disliked the idea of Sonic the Hedgehog crushing on a human, while there have been fairy tales about anthro hedgehogs & human couples over the years before Sonic existed, and nobody batted an eye on those. Granted, the anthro hedgehogs in the stories were princes or handsome peasent men under a curse, but still. Also, hedgehogs are not ugly! They're adorable!
Hmm.. the original story ends with Hans burning alive along his fur once she tossed it in the fire..this alternate ending changes the whole content of the fable
Yes, Jim Henson hired Steve Barron to direct the pilot for The Storyteller after seeing his directorial work on various music videos, including one for Labyrinth. In return, Barron went to Henson years later to see if the latter's Creature Shop would help design and produce the animatronic puppets for the titular reptiles (also Splinter). Henson hesitantly agreed.
And after that Hans go to a palace where the woman he is in love with forced to be married and woth the help of a white haired sexy Dilf he won and married her😂

I saw this once as a toddler 30 years ago and I didn't think I'll ever discover what it was. But here I am.
The intro is pure perfection.
I remember watching this one Christmas Eve- 1992 I think it was. I felt so sorry for Hans and the way he was treated.

i used to rent this as a kid on VHS from the library in australia in the early 200's/late 90's. forgot all about it until now! :O

in 1987 this episode gave little 8 year old me nightmares for a long time.

It's an old Germanic folk tale. It's about as weird as any Greek or Norse myth. I'm just glad it got made.
