I have the 5O Amp Watch dog. Bought in 2022. Great device. Note: Buy a cable lock to wrap around power pedestal. That is what the metal plate with the hole in it is for, on the cord.
We also monitoring our rig thru our BMPRO system.
I can see all operations and control any of these remotely on my phone.
This is important when you have pets.
I have one and love the bluetooth feature. You just have to remember when you arrive at a new campsite after you plug it in to open the app on your phone so it reconnects. That way you can monitor the amount of electricity you use which I find handy because we usually stay at one spot for at least a month and have to pay for electricity.

If you are away from your RV how does it send any signal to Bluetooth that is very range limited (300ft unabstructed)?
Most surge protectors will work on a 30amp to 50amp dog bone adaptor.

So you are saying it will send you a text message to you phone when it is out of the Bluetooth range how does it do that when there is no phone inside the unit?
Were you not able to use a reducer plug?
The Wi-Fi signal drops all the time! You have to be in range of your home Wi-Fi! Which is only about 25 of the watchdog device
You can get a dogebone adapter and still use it
Question I know there is a round metal loop hole for a wire . For protection against theft but some of these power supply’s at parks don’t have any thing to connect to . So how do you keep surge protector from being stolen thank you

Hi, did you ever have an E8 code with the 50amp Power Watchdog when you are plug at your house and you dont have many things drawing power in the coach ? I have a little issue when I draw not much power, let say 0.1 or 0.2 amps I'm getthing an E8 code for missing neutral at the coach, that is not true because the neutral is ok when I got stuff working at the same time. Thanks for your help.
Hello, I also had a Power Watchdog and was getting E8 codes randomly. I called Hughes tech support and they informed me that the unit will trip on missing neutral whenever current loads on L1 and L2 are whitin 0.1 amps of each other.
This missing neutral ‘logic’ is built in and proved to be incompatible with my rig. Replaced the ems with a Progressive one, problem resolved !

Does it take a subscription to get the alert texts?
No, the text alert is only if you are somewhat close to the RV. They say it has been tested to work up to 300 ft but the manufacturer is saying only 50 feet. Hope this helps...
Yes. I was going to mention alerts. It is only Bluetooth, not Wi-Fi where it could send notices to your phone no matter where you where. If your close enough to get notifications via Bluetooth your most likely in or just outside your RV and you would know someone unplugged your rig. It’s a great surge protector but don’t think you can monitor things from across town.
Which is better the 30 or 50
I apologize if your question has already been answered, but I couldn't find a response. After 3 months odds are you have one or someone answered already.
So the deciding factor will be what you're rig is rated for. Simple answer is to match your rig's rating. 50A RV then 50A surge protector or 30A RV then use the 30A protector.
However, if you have a 30A rig and plan on upgrading to a larger RV with a 50A service in the near future (a year or two) then I'd recommend the 50A to prevent from having to buy another. You can use the 50A protector by means of a 50A to 30A adapter.

So how does Bluetooth send you a text to your phone when you are at the store? Bluetooth only works when you are within 100 fr or so. Sometimes a lot less? You would need WiFi to a cloud server to ping you phone with an alert. Pleas update your video, it is a bit misleading (probably unintentionally so).

@@RVSimpleLife Well I was also interested in how this device allowed remote monitoring away from the RV and thinking you were going to show how to set up the app to do that. I didn't realize in order to do that you would have to actually purchase a second device to set that up. Maybe you mentioned that in the video but I missed it. Sorry, seemed a bit misleading.

Why can’t you use a adapter from 50 to 30 amp . Rather than buying a 30 and 50 amp surge protector. For those people like you that have 50 amp but a lot of parks only do 30 amp

Annoying dog face all night! Way to advertise your $250 Watchdog for thieves passing by. Is there a way to shut off the lighted face and just rely on the App notifications?
Bluetooth cannot send a message to me while I’m at the store.
Piece of cardboard and tape. Also, white dog face is hard to see in bright sun. Green would be easier to see and not as glaring at night.
