The EPO feature is great. It turned off when my rear AC compressor was going out and spiking over 50A. Saved me because we were at a fairgrounds where the electric panel was locked. If it would have tripped the breaker we would not have power all night. Another time a storm came through and the power was 132v and it shut off the power unit it came back down to normal. Great device. Combine it with the Autoformer and you are totally covered.

We have the 30 amp version and for about a year and at 2 different camp grounds it has told us intermittently there was a missing ground although neither myself or the electrician at the RV parks could find an issue so I ended up just not using it which doesn't help. About to switch to a 50amp so I'll either get a different brand or I'll skip the epo all together.

I have screenshot videos showing hot water heater off on AC off on this off on everything off on. I love this device. Yes brown outs no good for motors. I have pretty much tested every single device and wrote down. What their wattage is and I know their signature.

I hope they improve on the app for more features. Such as including “i” or “?” with the fields providing more info such as brief explanation and minimum & maximum of safe numbers.

I want to install a Hughes 50 amp Autoformer and the watch dog.. It will be in a parentally mounted hard wire configuration. Which watch dog surge protector unit do I get (EPO or Not) and do I install it before or after the autoformer?

Newbie here. I want to plug my RV into my outside house outlets. I have an adapter to do that. My question is, can I plug the Watchdog into the adapter to my house and then my camper?

Is this unit installed in line between the shore power inlet and power center (breakers/fuses/converter) on a typical travel trailer? If so, would there be a separate ground from the Hughes unit?

Hi Randy, i have a question. I am about to install the hardwired version that you mentioned, my question is the power comes into my rv and the panel and inverter are under the master bed. Can the unit be installed in the same area( will not be visible unless bed is lifted) ?
Are there any concerns about heat ? The area has a fan for inverter.
    Thanks in advance
The rv is a 2021 entegra vision xl 34b incase you know the model

Last yesr I bought a 2022 keystone Premier 25 RKPR from Petes Rv in Massachusetts. Heres my question… the camper is a 50 amp camper but i only have one AC unit on it so i was told i can safely run the rig on 30 amp service…. Is this true? Second … if i run the camper on 50 amp with the single AC will the AC perform better at cooling? Im currently having issues with the GE air conditioner that came on the rig that no one can seem to figure out. Its not properly cooling the camper adequately like when i first got it. It seems to be short cycling and occasionally the snowflake symbol on the thermostat flashes on and off. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a way to " soften " the sensitivity on the EPO version ? Mine constantly shuts off at the tiniest bit over 30 amps, which is in the morning with the coffee maker and A/C on. Will switching to a non EPO version help ? Or what about raising the alert settings ? Otherwise, I'm thinking of getting a 50 amp RV to maybe solve this issue. My previous RV did this too.

If you are exceeding 30 amps it’s just a matter of time that your main breaker trips or the 30 amp breaker on the pedestal, the watch dog is just protecting you first. My recommendation would be, turn off AC when making coffee, or use a percolator to make coffee using the stove top. Hope this helps! Happy Camping - Randy

Hi, did you ever have an E8 code with the 50amp Power Watchdog when you are plug at your house and you dont have many things drawing power in the coach ? I have a little issue when I draw not much power, let say 0.1 or 0.2 amps I'm getthing an E8 code for missing neutral at the coach, that is not true because the neutral is ok when I got stuff working at the same time. Thanks for your help.

If you have an inverter/converter it's probably pulling an exact balance of amps on both legs and by exact I mean not even a decimal apart which is coincidentally how missing neutrals are tested for. To get identical loads is almost impossible from just appliance use. If you do have an inverter and aren't really running anything exclusive to one leg I'm betting dollars to donuts that's why. Try to keep one leg slightly higher than the other and see if it still throws the E8

Hey Randy, question for you: On a 50amp electrical pannel with a dual pole 50amp braker, do you have 50amp on each legs? So 50amp coming from one hot wire and an other 50amp coming from the other hot wire. So 100amps for the all pannel ?Thanks.

      @randalmurray3624 10 місяців тому

You are correct, 50 amps per leg which is providing a 100 amp potential in your RV.

Is there a way to bypass the watchdog? We have one wired into our rv and it works great, but I have a Honda 3200 generator and when I kick the AC on it drops the voltage to below 104 and the watchdog kicks off power. Any ideas? Thank you!!

If your generator has "eco mode" you may want to turn it off (or on)
