The XT20 obviously is more full and actually has some bass. It is warm, forward with good focus. Both speakers are hot in the treble, but this especially shows in the XT15. The XT15 is lean with little bass, but the midrange is very neutral. Soundstage is wide and laid back which people seem to not like, but it sounds more accurate and "live" on the jazz track. Both speakers are fine, but surprisingly different. I wonder how they compare with a sub.
XT20 definitely sounds better since it does have better bass and seem to be a better choice but only without sub. Would be great to see another comparison when both are paired with a sub. Anything what doesn't have "boom" in it plays on XT15 very decent. And boom is usually added by a sub.

I assume they use the same tweeter, but the midrange on the XT20 sounds so much more open, clear, and balanced, where it's quite veiled and distant on the 15. I don't know if it's the cheaper woofer or the crossover causing it, but I don't like it. It almost sounds like the drivers aren't blended properly and there's a big hole in the midrange, with both the woofer rolling off too low or fast at its top end, and the tweeter rolling off too high or fast at its low end for them to meet and blend well without a big hole in the mids
How about both? Would that be nice? I feel like the xt15 give the clarity and the xt20 the warmth. Would that be a cool setup people? I currently have the xt15's but i miss a little warmth!

Impressed that for me most genres I like the speakers are perfect. Finding not enough bass for some genres though. Any recommendations for an active subwoofer in the budget range (seeing as the amp and speakers were on the budget side and bought on sale)
100us difencia, calidad precio XT15, los tengo puestos en stereo con un Fosi V3 + P1 en un dormitorio y suena bastante bien, de hecho le tengo que bajar los graves un poco ya que para una habitacion de 3 x 4m esta de sobra. Creo que por 300us o un poquito mas hay mejores que el XT20
In some ways I like the XT15 more than the XT20. To me they sound tonaly smoother and more neutral, with less suckout in the crossover region. They're far leaner and lack the bass and fullness of the XT20s, but the 20 is overly warmed and a trace lumpy in the bass, wich the smaller bro isn't. There is a big difference between them though, even some inconsistancy in their sound, and the XT15 lacks some refinement and clarity in comparison to the 20's, wich they shouldn't.

Really? Listen to the vocal on Bedroom, where her voice is all uper mids and nothing below that. And the horns on Leroy is even worse, and when it switches from the 20 to the 15, all the midrange disappears and it seems like all we hear is tweeter. The 15 is the one with the huge midrange suckout, not the 20! On Pull Me Closer, on the 15 it sounds like he's singing through a megaphone in a tin can. This trend continues with the vocals in Time Traveler and the guitar in Fields.
@@DougMen1 i dont hear it quite that way. It does sound thinner on the 'Bedroom' vocal wich is thin to begin with. It doesn't add warmth to the horns in 'Leroy, either but they sound smoother and more natural to me overall, if lacking body wich they do a bit. I bet comparing both their response curves would be interesting.

Usate in ottimo stato si possono acquistare a 100/150 euro. Per quello che riguarda il suono, per gli altoparlanti non è stato fatto nessun progresso sostanziale dalla fine degli anni '80. Hello thanks for your vid, I recently purchased XT15 Polk Monitor, the instruction booklet indicates 4 Ohm Impedance, but the web site indicates 4 to 8 Ohm impedance, I am a little worried wondering which one is right, thanks I am worried it may overload my 8ohm receiver
XT20 has more bass, but the mid-bass region from 80-200hz is too thick, it muddies up their sound. XT15 is much clearer and cleaner sounding, but with a more obviously boosted treble. With tone controls available, I'd take the XT15 and knock down the treble a few dB. Even without tone controls, I think my preference is the XT15. I'd want a subwoofer with either pair to get that true flat-to-30 extension for music.
@@ShamaticFocus honestly, if you're looking at getting speakers that are this budget friendly, you're probably looking at subs in a similar price class. Based on a round of testing with loads of budget subs @erinsaudiocorner did, I'd look at either the Elac sub1010 or polk PSW10. They are very similar in performance, aesthetically a little bit different from one another.
Riffing again. Like many speakers, we've heard on here, they both different kinds of unflatness. It's hard to pick a winner but I'd go with the XT20. Prefer the ES20 with a more neutral amp.
I have both, XT15 is significantly better than the 20. The XT 15 is tight clear and the mid range is glorious. XT20 sounds a bit scooped, bigger bass yes but not as tight. XT20 thumps whereas the XT15 punches. 20 is still a nice speaker but doesn’t come close to the XT15.

Wow I prefer the xt15 by far. Sounds more coherent than the xt20. Best option would be to buy the xt15 and a nice subwoofer.

Will buy the XT20 for my rear surrounds for my 5.2 setup
Do you think it's worth buying XT20 for rear surrounds? Are those larger sub-woofer really adds benefit to rear surround?

Listen on my own pair of XT20 with a Fonestar AS6060 connected with a Philips 55PUS7506/12 TV.

XT15 will match with a Sub better as XT20 sounds more bloated already

Depends on your taste, better go to a shop and listen then live, personally I like boomy sound I stick with polk

Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 and B6.2 are much better than these Polk.
