    I absolutely love that tree with all the roots. What a cool little hike.

    • @RVAHikerGirl
      @RVAHikerGirl  2 роки тому +1

      It was massive, that root system. It's in a flooding area from the Cape Fear River. So I think the water has eroded the soil away over the years. But it's still hanging on strong. ~RVA~

      That tree is right by the river, so I think its roots look that way from years of the river rising and eroding the soil. It was pretty cool looking for sure. Thanks, Switchback for checking this one out. ~RVA~

      Hey there! This one was a real surprise since its not in the mountains. Its in the flat part of the state. I'll be seeing you in Oct my friend! Excited to come hike in your home state and share in conversations with our deep southern draws! My accent tends to get a lil deeper when surrounded my fellow country folk. ~RVA~

    Awww, my oldest daughter's neck of the woods. (She's an Army wife). Beautiful place and rock formations. And you are right. That area is mainly flat, but Raven Rock is a great exception! Gotta check out their "hike-in" campsites sometime. Another great video!

      I can see that. But for sure these are much higher and naturally made verses the quarry on Belle Isle was man made. Love hiking down by the river in RVA. Close to home and great views of the city.

      @@RVAHikerGirl You are so welcome! I'm glad I came across your channel. I've had some health issues and haven't hiked all summer and you inspire me to get out there again.
      Yes, Raven Rock location and cliffs are incredible and certainly a jem in NC. There are many trails in that park. If you have the all trails app they are on there. Another area I recommend is the south mountains park south of Hickory nc, it's a small mountain range separate from the rest of the NC mountains. I have two videos on my channel showing hikes I did on there. The longer and more difficult trail has that impressive and beautiful waterfall. Enjoy!
      Keep on exploring and see you on the trail one day!
      🤗 XOXO -Dulce

    That looked a great trail to follow, especially with the orange markers on the trees. Sure was plenty of steps to get down and the roots of the tree next to Raven Rock was real weird to see, it looked like it could come alive at at second. It really was a massive rock and it really put it into perspective when you did a distance walking shot passed it. Loved the viewpoint, so many trees for as far as the eye could see and nice someone had put a bench there too - I would have need that after all those steps! Just as well that hike was shaded mind as 96F is way too hot for me - yikes! Cheers Alan

      I got out there early to try to beat the heat. But at this time of the year, you wake up to temps already in the 90's. The really great thing about this hike is it's not in the mountains. It sure looks like it from the size of the massive cliffs though. I real gem I found. Thanks, Alan for watching til the end! ~RVA~
