River patrol boats - compilation of genuine Vietnam War color footage

Music by Jefferson Airplane and The Surfaris. The US Brown Water Navy patrolled the rivers during the Vietnam War. It mostly consisted of PBRs (“patrol boat, river”): fast, agile, shallow-draft, fiberglass, jet propelled.
The Americans also used larger PCFs (‘patrol craft, fast’) aka ‘swift boats’;
“ASPBs (‘assault support patrol boat’); and armored troop carriers a.k.a ‘Tango boats’.

My Dad was on one of these in 68-69. Never talked about it. After he died I found his DD214. He was awarded the Bronze and Silver Star in Vietnam.

He was a hero. It must have been scary given how lightly armored the boats were, but also amazing to be on such an agile boat. I wish the Vietnam veterans had been given the appreciation they deserved.

Thanks for the suggestion mate. Most genuine Vietnam footage was recorded without sound. The sound we hear in documentaries is 95% added in post-production. But I still should have found some genuine audio of a PBR in Vietnam and included it. Cheers for the tip 👍

Thanks mate, the song is 'Wipeout' by the Surfaris in 1963. From what I've read it was quite popular with the troops in Vietnam.
