If you intend to do anything meaningful, Claude 3 Opus and Sonnet are both capable models, but are severely limited in the help that they offer. Anthropic is more so focused on its model supplying code snippets. Instead of a coding assistant, you're getting code snippets with advice on how to use those code snippets.
I've found you can prompt it to give you the entire code by saying something like: "It's hard for me to paste parts of the code you provided. It causes errors. Please return the entire code so I can paste it directly into my file for testing". It's not perfect but forces it to give you a more usable output.

Agree....not to mention that claude can't handle large files (data) the way GPT Vo does!
