I'm a "Strat guy" but I've just never been able to make myself use Eb tuning. I agree that people sound awesome with it but I use a lot of different guitars and it sorta makes me feel like I'm playing different string gauges I guess when I go back to my standard tunings.
@@SimpleManGuitars1973 just gotta use strings that have the same tension or similar for example my strat I have in eb I use 9.5’s the Ernie ball ones and on my Tremonti prs I use 8.5’s bc of scale length dif and the tuning but the bends feel like pretty close on how much I need to push
A natural no-nonsense teacher who doesn’t baby us…love it. Def know your audience of real ‘musicians’ using the guitar as their instrument of choice. The tabs def help to speed up the process but I like that you teach by talking notes and intervals…not just “3rd string, 1st fret”
Awesome. The 2nd lick I play a lot further up the neck. What is nice is that I do it a little differently so now I've learned to do it a bit differently from your vid. You probably know how it is. The fingers habitually move in certain directions & we can get stuck in just doing things in a certain way so it's really nice to break out a bit.
These two licks were super nice. I need to learn this intro video too (at least the first half). And that second open lick transfers nicely on the 12th fret. Definitely that SRV lick that Nick Johnston uses all the time. Thank you so much for the breakdown! Very helpful.
Great passionate playing that sounds like SRV but w/ a nice touch of your own style that inspires me as a guitarist and helpful notes on bending and sounding grace notes.
ROSS, try to make a video lesson about how SRV and other guitarist uses notes on the off beat and weak beats because in SRV shuffles he uses off beat notes to create this hiccup effect or flat tire effect it makes the blues licks have this texas shuffle. If all the notes landed on the down beat strong beat it wouldn't have this texas effect of those notes on the off beat and weak beats to offset the notes. The other main point is "outlining chords" during the shuffles picking which is like arpeggios but its different when you shuffle arpeggios in a texas style. Jimmie Vaughan does this also
Hey Ross, I'm a new listener and I'm liking what I'm hearing. I'm going to check out some more of your videos and see a little more what your about before committing to the program. Thank you for sharing these great riffs. You'll be hearing more from me ! ! Rob
Sir, thank you for sharing this! Very nice! Been searching the backing track you’ve used here , is there anyway I’d find it on UA-cam ? Thank you very much again!
Hey Ross! Just started viewing your channel a few days ago...Better late then never! You are a bad ass player and you have a great teaching method. Congrats on your work!
Dude I got me a Custom Shop Fiesta Red 61 reissue yesterday and it's AWWWWESOME!!!! I love yours too! Mine literally has the smallest Strat neck I have ever seen.
Stevie really is filthy with his licks I really like it its really like a style I hope to hold ont or blend into my blues playing here its really sick glad I have these videos to help CHEERS BRO CHEERS!!! I HOPE TO SEE STUFF WITH YOUR WEBSITE RELATED TOI THIS I REALLY DO CHEERS BRO CHEERS
Great lesson with two tempo tab parts, i love SRV like many others but i'd really like to see you do something on Rory Gallagher one of these days, just a thought, many thanks !
ROSS CAMBELL, make a video lesson on Jimmie Vaughan Open String licks because he uses the CAPO on the 2nd fret and uses a lot of Open String licks. You just have to watch a lot of live Jimmie Vaughan Concerts

Nothing sounds like a good Strat tuned to Eb!Great video Ross.
Thanks Terry, I wholeheartedly agree! Eb should be standard tuning for strats ;)
@E.P. Stone I'm assuming you mean 10's? I use 11-48 on my strat

Thank you!
@@RossCampbellGuitarist my pleasure!
Your style has only gotten better over the course of years. Bravo
Thank you so much!
@@RossCampbellGuitarist his style and tone are so recognisable, and difficult to replicate, but you nailed it. Always excellent videos
@@colink4823 thank you!
Yeah, he is an absolute master and is my dream to ever play like Ross. He is probably the best teacher on UA-cam
Your phrasing & tone are so reminiscent of SRV it gave me chills!!!! Excellent lesson presentation too.
Beast of a lick, you make it it look so easy! Great SRV tone, impressed
Thank you Nick!
You and Guthrie Trap are my favorite UA-cam tutors. Thanks.
Thanks Kevin, Guthrie is amazing!

Absolutely. I want to scream every time some UA-cam guitar “teacher” starts in with “10th fret, 5th string”... 🙄
Thanks from France Ross!
Your tone, your feeling and your phrasing are amazing!
Mike a big fan
Thanks Mike!
Woowee! This will get your attention right off the bat! Awesome! I think Stevie woulda gave this some props!

what position is the 2nd lick within the scale?
The one time I tune my guitar down to Eb and I happen to pick this video (:
Haha solid timing
Great stuff. SRV was so Tasty. Love his guitar Mastery. R.I.P. Legend. oNe LovE from NYC

Wow Ross- just SUPER good playing here! I'm going to learn this note-for-note for my blues jam this week- epic playing brother!
Aw thank you!
Savage Ross! Thanks for the tutorial, great stuff. Love some SRV!
Great passionate playing that sounds like SRV but w/ a nice touch of your own style that inspires me as a guitarist and helpful notes on bending and sounding grace notes.

Great licks, fantastic tone- I bought the Cory Wong plugin after watching your previous SRV video- thanks for the preset Ross!

Open string lick? Open string solo! Sounds amazing! Rock on! 🤟

Thank you! I have to confess, I'm not much of a Rory Gallagher fan. I never really got that into his playing personally
So cool!! I can recognize a lot of Lenny Inspired licks in the intro.
Nailed it again Ross!

Hi!! Thank you for good lesson. Is there TAB of Intro solo?
The Open E lick at approx 2:10 in SRV's studio version of Voodoo Child always trips me up when I try to play along
so helpful man
My strat was elsewhere, but I can confirm that this also sounds filthy on a Les Paul tuned to Eb.
Haha nice!@
Your playing is so clean! Flawless Victory.
Thank you so much!
Absolutely killer. I love this so much
GREAT LESSON THANKS !!!
Thank you!
Great lessons and playing! Love that guitar.

I love this kinda lesson!!! thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Great play! Great tone!
Ya man a strat in Eb is a magical sound.
Isn’t it funny guitarist would say a songs in D# but we say Eb when referring to tuning 😜
I know I'm coming in late..video is a year old..but my new hero!! ...

정말 완벽한 S.R.V 톤입니다. 이런 톤을 만들어내다니 부럽습니다.

Hi Ross, great lesson. I was wondering is the tab you show in the key of E or Eb. Thanks
Very nice
Can we use a prepaid visa card?
Hey‼️ sound is very nice what the spec of your guitar i gonna order the fiesta red one pls tell me if you can 😁
Sound alright with humbuckers too
Brilliant maestro absolutely brilliant
Great teacher
I found a teacher!!!!
Ross is one of the best guitar teacher period.
Thank you so much!
Slinky slinky. Very nice
Wich strat model is that ? Sounds amaaaazing 🔥
Eb with really thick strings. At least a thick low E. The high E isn't AS integral. Though, it's still very important to the sound.
awesomeeeeee!
Weres the rest. Of intro tab.
Thank you Ross! I wonder if we are related? My middle name is Campbell
Great vid .. but tabs are tad small for cell. Phone. Can't really make it out.
