- Check out all 80 SEGA SG-1000 games in one video.
The SG-1000 is a home video game console manufactured by SEGA and released in Japan, Australia, and other regions. It was SEGA's first entry into the home video game hardware business. Introduced in 1983, the SG-1000 was released on the same day that Nintendo released the Family Computer in Japan.

Really only classed "third generation" because of it's time. It's really a high-performing second gen in terms of how the games look and sound.
A decent console that just came out at the worst possible time period
The NES was released on the same day.
@@yessopie yeah, very unfortunate too, the Famicom was the more powerful console
Looks like it was made to compete with atari 2600 and colecovision
In fact, Sega states Famicom kinda helped the sales of SG-1000.
Famicom were so popular that were often sold out in store, so parent bought this instead.
the sg-1000 did decent
It’s just a beefed up Colecovision. Same graphics and sound chips, Same processor.
Just like Nintendo's Color TV game is beefed up Atari 2600. Same graphics and sound chips, same processor.
@@ZarzuelaTheRhynochetos Now I'm not an expert in console hardware, and as far as I can tell the Color TV-Game doesn't have a known processor architecture or video hardware, but the Atari 2600 used a custom TIA to perform video and audio output, and given that Nintendo enlisted the help of Mitsubishi it is at least somewhat likely to be using something other than a MOS 6507 (the NES did use a ripoff 6502 though).
Also the Color TV-Game came out in June of 1977, and the Atari 2600 came out in September of 1977, so maybe the Atari is just a beefed-up Color TV-Game.
Not even beefed up, its identical to the colecovision in specs far as I can see - same amount of RAM, same CPU and speed, same video chip, same sound chip. SG-1000 is let down by its game library I feel, they just don't feel well made, but then I don't think I could ever love that sound chip there is just something not very pleasant sounding about it, the AY-3-8910 sounds so much better.
Cool video Virtual Gaming Library.
Oh wow
I’ve never seen that version of Congo Bongo at 4:26
No it wasn't, it was designed to compete with the Famicom. Atari 2600 and the rest had zero real presence in Japan
Surprisingly-good version of the original Sokoban. Most of the ones with the original level layouts run like ass because they were for really slow systems.
girls garden 😭💕
You apparently missed many games here that I've just discovered. Bomberman Special, Flipper, King's Valley, Knightmare, Magical Wiz Kid, Rally-X, Road Fighter, Tank Battalion, The Legend of Kage, Twinbee and Yie Ar Kung-Fu II which I guess are all Taiwan games. Also, Sekaishi Nenpyou and Serizawa Hachidan no Tsumeshougi in Japan. There may possibly be more as well.
I think they don't count unlicensed/Taiwanese/Chinese games at all. They did miss a Sherlock Holmes game though for sure. I think that one came out on both SG-1000 and Master System.
Circus Charlie was a well made port and I think it's way better than the actual licensed video games on this console.
All of the titles you mentioned are actually unlicensed MSX computer ports from Taiwan that required a special 8 kB RAM adapter. So they are not actual SG-1000 games.
@@OriginalGrasshopper Ah, okay. Thanks for the info.
Really like the system. I have about half of these games.
1° sega console ever made! if this came out to america (almost 3 years before the nes) I think it would've been a sucess
It did, as the colecovision.
@@Lock2002ful Colecovision was not the same console, also had a different controller, there was a hybrid console called the Dina, which had 2 cartridge slots, one for Colecovision and other for sg1000
4:52 who is also up to play around with Dragon Wang?
Thank you!
It’s a shame that the SG-1000 didn’t make it to the United States since some the games and arcade ports on this system look excellent
Try the colecovision.
0:02: 1. 3-Jin Mahjong (1984 JP)
0:12: 2. 007: James Bond (1984 JP)
0:23 bank panic was a graphic and music overhaul. 0:/2 oh God cover art superhero BJ
10:43 is that "A Hard Day's Night" for the music??
These are the games that the ancient Egyptians used to play back in the time of Moses
Exerion is quite impressive for its time.
It certainly was not on par with the Famicom.
Surprising how good the SG-1000 sounds in comparison to other consoles and home computers at the time.
Amazing!! I Love the recopilation!! Sega ❤
I have an interest in buying this system. It's the one sega system almost no one talks about in the US.
Jarod Schultz because it was only released in Japan
Hope you got it.
I've had one for years and I love it. I feel it was the bridge between generations, and essentially was a colecovision that was taken to the limit
Didn't it come out in Oceania?
Me too. That should complete my SEGA console collection.
I think Sega Master System has backwards compatibility with most SG-1000 games.
What is sure is that the games packaging was pretty better than the games packaging of Master System.
The best games on the Sega SG-1000 on my list are: 1. Drol, 2. Gulkave, 3. Hustle Chumy, 4. Exercion, 5. Monaco GP, 6. Congo Bongo, 7. N-Sub, 8. Orguss, 9. Pop Flamer, 10. Space Armor, 11. Space Slalom, 12. Star Force, 13. Zoom 909, 14. Star Jacker, and 15. Yamato. I do dislike odd numbers, plus this is the smallest best game list I have.
Amazing list, thx.
Thx for the list. :)
Bombjack is pretty good. The controls are actually quite smooth and not stiff like a lot of other games. I can actually pay this version of Bombjack and enjoy it even today because of the good controls.
HERO sounds really Great !☆
Colecovision, which has the same specs has a MUCH better version of H.E.R.O. If you haven't seen it, check it out!
This console may have been good for the time period. But I just see it as Japan's answer to the Coleco Vision. The graphics and color palettes in many of the games of both systems are so eerily similar.
the hardware was essentially identical, there was even a clone system at the time which could play both
Actually, the SG-1000 was released released only in Japan.
So Sonic took the spikes from the game castle?
its cool to see pre cursors to nes games
lol congo bongo is like sega ver of donkey kong game
The games looked very much like Colecovision. If you look at the specs of the two machines, they are almost identical.
Even the MSX computer.

”Loretta no Shouzou” is missing.
As versões de MSX são idênticas.
Sg1000 is worth emulating on retro arch
I wonder if there's at minimum PC emulators online because I really want to try these games out
There's emulator called bee. It also support some other old consoles.
Mark III é o primeiro modelo do Master System lançado no Japão. Apenas isso.
4:44 OK now Ive gotta find out what 'doki doki' means
its basically the japanese onomatopoeia for a heartbeat
it'd be the equivalent of "heart-pounding" in english
It’s the as English speakers saying, “bumb-bump, bumb-bump” like a heartbeat.
Someone needs to watch Serial experiments Lain...
Also can mean that you’re nervous or excited
This console looks similar to atari 7800
Melhor que o Atari 2600
O SG-1000 tinha os mesmos gráficos do ColecoVision
Us had a release?
Whats the systems best game?😊
Anything worth it to play today?
I’m trying to figure that out myself currently.
But I’m just watching this and gonna try some out.
I actually wanna try the Penguin one.
Got the Mega SG recently with the adapter pack, got use them to justify buying those. 😅
Siempre sega adelantado al tiempo
Why there was no English game in the SG-1000?
like
about 60 of these are playable... too bad both golf games suck, that goes for baseball and hockey as well... and Wonder Boy.
Only about a dozen games that looked interesting to me and so much junk. Of course if you grew up with them they may have been fun.
Interesting that the games have no music, or terrible music, until 1985.
SC-3000 Please
They're the same i think.
@@ThomasPianta
They aren’t.
The SC-3000 or Mark III is the same as the Master System outside of Japan.
ohhh.... Star force in sega!!!!
videogame traumatizante !!
Melhor jogo safari race
SG-1000 vs. NES?
Nes
muy MSX los juegos, casi identicos...
Jeez. No wonder the Famicom was superior.
Actually the Famicom's direct comparison is the Master System which this is not. It's still superior though.
Why is the US listed for SG-1000 when it never even came out in America, it only came out in Asia, parts of Europe and Australia. The closest the Yank Doodles will remember to it is the Sega Master System which was the definitive and most upgraded form of the SG-1000 but even then the Master System barely made a dent in America, and Sega barely even exist in America at the time, that's why it was distributed through Tonka there instead of Sega.
Colecovision dude.
this console looks like a colecovision plus. NES was much much much better
SEGA SG 1000 100% mejor que ATARI 😍
Wtf is this NEVER heard of it
Because this was never released in the US. That's why.
Decides we have ColecoVision System it shares graphics with SG-1000.
US/EU/JP? This console only came out in Japan and New Zealand
Colecovision dude.
Thank you!
