She is the most perfect human ever created. Not just her outside beauty but her beautiful soul. Amazing combination of beauty and the voice of an angel and she can reach you with it all. I watch her perform this song everyday.
I’m so glad you discovered Aurora. Her lyrics reveal a deep understanding of humanity and nature. Her voice is absolutely hypnotizing. Aurora said in an interview that she gestures so much with her arms and hands because her mouth was just too small to express all the feelings she has inside of her when she sings. I loved your reaction to this young and magical artist, please do some more!
She is using a very old vocal tradition called "kulning". Locally we may call it "lokk" or "steving" etc. It is deeple embedded in especially Norwegian folk music. But you also find it in the Swedish counties bordering to the current (!) Norwegian-Swedish border. Yes our old common history is older than the invention of borders - and is also complex after borders were invented - and to the present day, we simply do not bother about that border at all (unless a pandemic is going on). On top of this, Scandinavian folk-music has always been rooted in "dorian modes/scales". So yes - you may get a tingle here of medieval chanting structures. Or Irish scale movements. The thing here - I do not think Aurora has studied deep-time traditional music - her songs can be played on a piano in the modern piano-octave set up. But there are hints of pre-modern traditions (like the 5-note (pentatonic) systems) because she is accenting notes selectively. It makes it feel "ancient" or "tribal". Or it may even make it sound jazzy. To me she sounds like she is subconsciously pulling her compositions from age-old traditions and integrating it with her "pop-music". Our traditional music has pre-medieval roots. Way beyond the comedy show or someone singing a medieval "ballad" these days. Interesting fact. AHA - peak 80's perfection sadly mistaken for a boyband - when Morten Harket goes up to the AAA - then slightly higher A-dropping down to AAA again in that tickle - there is their Viking roots vocally (they do it all the time). While they also play with Dorian scales a lot. If you listen to "take on me" and play the chord sequence - it is actually a sad song if you play it slow by the dropping chord sequence. A better example of Scandinavian pop music is ABBA. Listen to "The winner takes it all". It always amazes me that Americans use that song as a victory-song based on the title. They are not using kulning as song-technique - they are instead splitting the harmonics of their two sensational lead singers. While they drop the modes deeper and deeper into dorian modes. Creating a massive conflict that Scandinavians have used forever. Play "winner takes it all" on a piano - and discover how the musicality makes it sound like a loss. Bitterness. Acceptance. It is only the pop-production and text that makes it sound like an anthem of victory upfront. Black metal bands are exploring the same contradictions up here. Even good electronica composers like "Biosphere" or "Røyksopp" as more mainstream example - there all these really old musical solutions embedded when you listen to "Poor Leno" and dancing away at a club party a couple of decades ago. On the lyrics of Aurora. She is an empath. So it is hard to link her lyrics to her actual experiences. I do not know what made her write 5,4,3,2,1 Murder Song. It is clearly not about her own experience. She is clearly not seed when singing the Seed. In "through the eyes..." she ends with a plea of not being left alone. In "Queendom" and "A different king of Human" she is making space for every one lost to come to her/mothership. She is an empath. If she comes up with a new song called "solar system" and in an interview say that she was inspired by a dream where she was in an egg trying to hatch - so it is. Empaths work that way. It is definitely not logic - but somehow it is valid. Cristopher Nolan for example. Most likely an empath while he shows us how dream/time folds upon itself. Clearly not anchored in physics - but an emotional interesting experience. Maybe Aurora is lyrically soft science fiction? She sure does Bowie's Life on Mars with a lot of love also vocally.
Very interesting analysis. Thank you. "Kulning" were female sounds that should be able to attract the animals. I'm pretty sure Aurora has not received any formal vocal training. She is probably self-taught, through singing her own songs. She was not raised on a farm, but probably next to some farms and there may be something in her natural voice that attracts the listener in the same way. Or maybe it's in her Scandinavian genes? She apparently also has a special connection with animals. She seems very inspired by folk music and tribal cultures. And especially fantasy litterature. Most of her songs are empathetic role-plays and she passionately engages in stories she reads, listens to, watches or composes herself. But some of the songs are also clearly based on personal experiences. She is also a very passionate metal fan. And I completely Scandinavianly agree that "The winner takes it all" is first and foremost a bittersweet song :)
I agree the basis is in ancient roots. I hear the sound of Sami Joik, I hear similarities to Eivor’s Faroese style singing that she does so well in Trollabundin, and her sound track for the TV series “The Last Kingdom.” Please watch Aurora and Wardruna Live Concert “Helvegen” sung at her home town of Bergen, which is also Einar Selvik’s hometown.
@Michael Pucher "Through the Eyes of a Child (originally called "Eyes of a Child") is the seventh track on the album All My Demons Greeting Me as a Friend. It was written by AURORA, Michelle Leonard, and Alf Lund Godbolt and produced by Odd Martin Skålnes, Magnus Skylstad, and Godbolt."
Schnell we should just move to Norway. There must be something in the water which comes from the melting glaciers. Maybe we could sing like Angelina or Aurora if we lived there LOL. I was fortunate to visit Norway in the summer of 1972 and it is such a beautiful country. Like Angelina, Aurora takes the listener to a special world. Stunning. Congrats on 20k subscribers and wishing you continued success. Make it a great weekend. Stay safe and healthy one and all.

@@heidifarstadkvalheim4952 I love them both. Angelina doesn't cover songs, she completes them by making changes that can only be described as genius. I am certain her first album on Republic Records will have many original songs. Aurora is unique and captivating.
The thing that amazes about her is not only her voice, which of course is amazing but the totality of her performance, her body movements and even the expressions on her face. A natural performer.
We recently decided to stop being afraid of making different music. After chasing pop music and lagging with a solid decade for like 50 years we've finally realized that music is what we want it to be. I really think we in Norway lacked the confidence to innovate in music for the longest time. We have more great artists in Norway _right now_ than we've had in the past 40 years combined. Not that hard, seeing as the only band from Norway that ever took off was A-Ha back in the 80s....
There are so many great performers coming out of Norway right now. Some are singers with fantastic voices, some sing and dabble with composition and some mostly compose. Aurora is a truly well rounded musician. Writing the lyrics and composition, co-producing her music, co-directing her videos, currently playing at least 4 instruments, and lets not forget that voice. I listen to music all day every day, from the great composers, through 70's prog, metal, art rock, jazz, blues and anything new that's not just a product of the industry at large. I believe Aurora is the best artist writing, producing and performing at the moment. Her ability to convey complex ideas in simple verse, as only a true poet can, and her ability to express so much emotion as she performs is unequaled at this time.
Aurora is a treasure, a one of a kind. She will often leave you in tears and in awe. She has written tons of songs, only a few are released on her 3 LP's. I see you have got plenty of good suggestions, so go discover her artistry, her poetic lyrics, her voice, movements, dancing, hairstyle, outfit.... Aurora will appeal to your heart and mind and you'll probably be addicted. Love your reactions, by the way.
Thank you so much for reacting to Aurora. You already reacted to her with Warduna not long ago. This concert was a special one performed in the Nidarosdomen Cathedral at Trondheim in Norway. It broadcast on Norway's NRK TV in December 2017, when Aurora was just 21. I saw Aurora live here in the UK in November 2019. Once everywhere is safe again and proper live concerts can go ahead, I recommend that you go to see Aurora live. I promise you will not be disappointed.
Welcome to the world of Aurora! Whatever song you land on, whichever performance, goes right to our heart and soul. Yes, the Nidarosdomen Christmas concert was super special, for sure. After hearing any of her songs about a million times, I can often get through them without just busting out into tears, but not always. They go so deep. Of course, Through the Eyes of a Child completely destroyed me the first time through. You are certainly not the only reactor to cry on camera when that song envelops them.
welcome to the Aurora's world.. you will experience inner feelings that will make you want to be better and kind person... run to the woods and hug a tree and enjoy the pure moment of just "being alive"
You have opened the Aurora box now! She is very addictive. One of her big strengths is the variety in her music. All the enduring artists have this skill, painting different pictures in a range of colours and styles of sound.
Great reaction, she is the best!!! An otherworldly singer, songwriter, dancer, producer. The whole concert is a masterpiece, any songs here would be great to react to next.
You got yourself a new subscriber 🙂 I really like your enthusiasm and your real emotions when listening to Aurora. Cant wait to watch more reactions you do of Aurora.
Love your reaction to this. This is from an extremely strong performance, and every song from that Nidarosdomen concert is lovely. If you want to really see something different and equally lovely, you should check out Infections Of A Different Kind or The Seed from the HAIK concert. It's held in a forest, and her performance and the shows sound quality is stunning. I've seen some of your reactions now, and you seem sincere and open to really listen to the new songs. I love that. Keep them coming - A little word of warning, if you keep delving into Aurora, you might be completely enthralled by her. I honestly have never seen or heard any songs of hers that I don't like, and it's so with all of those who have checked her out. A true artist. Best wishes to your Channel ❤️
You have a whole new hole to dive into now. She is so good and you will absolutely love her. Murder Song (5,4,3,2,1) from the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Concert is an absolute must.
Greetings from Norway =) Hope we get to see more Aurora reactions. In general you are good with the live versions but if you do The Seed, Queendom or Apple tree i would recommend the original videos due to their visual msg alongside the song =)

I dont see why to compare tho. She's 10 years older but she have 3 solo albuns with Fantastic, fantastic production and songwriting...its not all about voice and performance even tho she nails both. I love the songs that Angelina is starting to make tho, cant wait for an album in the Future, what a Voice 💙💙
Also, to get a sense of who she is, where she came from, childhood etc...please watch "Nothing is Eternal", it's a mini documentary, 11 min long. Aurora is a once in a generation artist, she is Gaia.
I'm so happy to see another reactor jumping into the beautiful world of Aurora! I really hope to see you hear more of her music! You might enjoy 'A different kind of human' or 'Lucky.'
I loved your reaction. 👍🔔 "Through the eyes of a child" is my favourite song in the world, my second favourite from Aurora (and i love them all) is "My heart is a storm", it is in my opinion a powerful song. Greetings from Portugal.
I love your reaction, I've watched your reaction at least 10 times in the last few weeks. I love to see first reactions to Aurora, she is so good and emotional. I do believe she has a "sympathetic" vibration or tone in her voice that does go directly to your heart and soul. The best, THANK YOU.
Oh, you have a whole lot of Aurora you need to experience. Like - "Murder Song (1,2,3,4,5)" - either the official music video or her performance at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert 2015 - "The Seed" - "Exist for love" - and almost anything else she have ever made :)
Sunglasses will never go out of style, if that counts. Ok now, thank you for finally discovering Aurora. You need to watch the whole concert, it is beautiful. You can cry it is absolutely ok. Besides Angelina, Aurora is one artist that makes me cry when I listen to her. Next on her list you need to check out her "the seed".💖💖💖
Angelina is good, but Aurora is far above her in many ways. She is the complete package of talent. This performance proves how good Aurora is simply amazing. It is the best thing I have ever heard.
@@tomh3652 I'm going to disagree with on that. Aurora is Aurora and Angelina is Angelina. Two very different and Talented artists and I love them both equally. 💗

Great reaction, as always! Aurora is really an amazing artist. BTW, she was also on the Wardruna reaction you did last week (she was the one dressed in all white). She is Scandinavian and is a really interesting person... you should watch some of her interviews to see how free-spirited she is.
AURORA is in league of her own, and so versatile! Check out her environmental anthem "The Seed:" either the music video or her live performance of the song in a forest (HAIK 2019)! She is up for a Grammy this year for her duet with Idina Menzal in Frozen II. Her iconic song: "Running with the Wolves" is the central song in the new animated film "Wolfwalkers" (due out in theaters and in two weeks on Apple TV)! Also her incredible song "Soulless Creatures" was performed for the first time live this year with the Bergen Philharmonic! And her performance for KEXP in Iceland is amazing: "Churchyard" and "All is Soft Inside" !!! She is 24 years old, but started writing music as a young child.
Thank you Schnell for reacting to this song and Aurora! You heard our cries about Aurora. She deserves everything to be heard. Welcome to the world of Aurora! The thing here - I do not think Aurora has studied deep-time traditional music - her songs can be played on a piano in the modern piano-octave set up. Interesting fact.
"Through the eyes of a child" is my favourite song in the world, my second favourite from Aurora (and i love them all) is "My heart is a storm", it is in my opinion a powerful song. Greetings from Portugal.
You have seen her before performing with Wardruna. You were captivated with her then also.
Aroura is a fairy, a wood nymph, from the vast mountains and forests of Norway.
Her voice and her being is just so ethereal! Thanks!
She does an a cappella version of this that so beautiful. Also check out her version of that of massive attack. Gorgeous.
Her cover of Teardrop is amazing!
@@ballsofdoom3124 yesssss!
I love your reaction, I've watched your reaction at least 10 times in the last few weeks. I love to see first reactions to Aurora, she is so good and emotional. I do believe she has a "sympathetic" vibration or tone in her voice that does go directly to your heart and soul. The best, THANK YOU.
AURORA and ANGELINA JORDAN must come up with a collaboration. I think humanity needs it!
You gotta reaxt to "God is Woman" and "Life on Mars" from aurora. They are both incredible and powerful and she plays keyboards in them.
I love Aurora so much!! Please watch more of her live!! Murder song, the seed, and it happened quiet!!
Oh, you have a whole lot of Aurora you need to experience. Like
- "Murder Song (1,2,3,4,5)" - either the official music video or her performance at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert 2015
- "The Seed"
- "Exist for love"
- and almost anything else she have ever made :)
5 4 3 2 1
More more more more. Please.
Now that you’ve heard this song maybe some time on your own check out the VEVO stripped version. It’s absolute perfection
You just entered a rabbit hole you never will be able to leave.
She is a unique artist and soul, so beautiful and refreshing!
That song is beautiful😍Aurora is magical. One day you must listen to her song "Why did you have to go" ❤️
That song ("Why...") is with a pain so strong it is physically present when you hear it. Totally agree
@@goeranm55 Yes, you're right, totally agree❤️ The lyrics ia also so powerfull. I lost my mother last year, sudden death, and I feel Auroras pain, and mine with the lyrics Why did you have to go a place where I couldn't follow.
ua-cam.com/video/wrQZFxWA-EQ/v-deo.html&ab_channel=HannChan...a good version to see
Im an almost 46 year old man and this is so touching, i always cry about this beautiful song 😢. Just cry, Aurora says. It is a part of healing....
Singer songwriter Aurora is one of a kind for sure Amazing glad you found her !!!! 😎😎😎😎.
Something that will never go out of style is that smile of yours!
Great reaction, as always! Aurora is really an amazing artist. BTW, she was also on the Wardruna reaction you did last week (she was the one dressed in all white). She is Scandinavian and is a really interesting person... you should watch some of her interviews to see how free-spirited she is.
That was a bit strange, this is one of Auroras songs. But there exists a few cover of this song.
When I heard this in “The 100” I burst into tears. The scene was so powerful and emotional.
yes! i wasnt aware it was in the show. totally unprepared and surprised!
What season ep was that
Please....please react to more of her. Let it be the start of your aurora journey
They must have something special in the water in Norway!
Norway is killing it with unique female singers lately! Aurora and Angelina are "A" listers (pun intended)
I had missed this reaction video of yours somehow.. glad it got recommended! Another very good reaction 🤘
Thanks for your great and genuine reaction! Would be really cool if you want to react to more from Aurora in the future=)
Going " Commando" will never go out of style! 😝😎
Thank you Schnell for reacting to this song and Aurora! You heard our cries about Aurora. She deserves everything to be heard.
Welcome to the world of Aurora!
Please for your own self listen to her stripped version of this song by Vevo UK. It is even better!!!
One of the best I have ever heard

Mycket bra förslag!!!!
I have heard this song b4 Schnell but not by this artist - this is a very touching song! One thing that never goes out of style for men is blue jeans I think - but I could be wrong! Have a great day Schnell!💙😇💙
This is not even my favorite performance but the haunting choral section is so powerful it gets me every time.
Amazing singers are coming out of Norway amazing
You have to listen to the "vevo" version of this song. That one gives you the chills...
Jeans will never be out of style. Great reaction
I think I found what I want played at my funeral. By the way. Beautiful reaction. I feel the same way.
AURORA just turned 24 years old on June 15, 2020. She is a Norwegian singer, songwriter and record producer.
Welcome to the world of Aurora ❤️ I look forward to your AURORA journey. I would suggest Running With The Wolves, It Happened Quiet, Murder Song or The Seed as your next reaction. Thank you for your reaction to this beautiful song.❤️
Congrats to 20k!
She got you! Didn't she? Did you get the goose bumps, tingles, shivers and tears? It happens to us all that hear her for the first time!! 🍾🥂
Once you discover Aurora you immediately want to look after her, she’s everyone’s national treasure
Great reaction! She has a lot of mesmerizing performances! Please do Aurora - Lucky (live at Nidarosdomen) :-)
I fell in love with her about 3 years ago. Watched this concert about 4 times and brings tears to my eyes each time.
check out "it happened quiet"from the same show, you will cry for sure
Aurora is the reason why Billie Eilish is a singer!
