The Oriental Magpie-Robin is a medium-sized robin (19-20 cm) with a broad white wing-bar running from the shoulder to the tip of the wing, and a long tail with white outer-tail feathers.
Males exhibit an overall black plumage whereas females are greyish-brown with the white wing-bar being a common feature.
The species is generally distributed across the Indian subcontinent and it typically avoids dense forest and open plains. It avoids both extremes and likes the in-between of an urban garden, with sunshine and shade.

So beautiful. In my bird house, we got this first occupant and that is magpie, I won't be able to capture a video as I've kept the house high and I don't want to disturb them but I'm so glad to watch this process and know what will happen from here on in my bird house. Thank you!

i have a nest aswell. Just 1 week old babies . Will the birds ever come back to the nest afterwards ?

Hi.... size of the nest box is... L 8in x W 8in x H 6in, diameter of the hole is around 2.5in, posion is centre of the side. Hope this will help you to build the nest box.
