    I'm a Sam and I like short story collections. 😂
    My least favourite book this year, also, oddly, was an Alex Garland book: Coma. It's so disappointing because he has made some incredible movies.
    Seems Orbital is the love it/hate it book of the year.

      Hahaha love that for you.
      Yeah, I think I'm gonna steer clear of Garland's books from now on, but I do have fun with his movies.
      I've definitely seen Orbital on some people's best of lists and I'm just like 👀

    idk if you recently got a hair cut and if you didnt well ---- i love how your layers are extra flippy in this video! also hi! love you!
    i'm also not a short story girlie but i really loved ghostroots by pemi aguda (if you haven't read it already and if you have and hated it uhhhh ignore this part of my comment LOL)
    i went down a paranormal romance rabbit hole in november and read Blood and Chocolate - very bad no good book lmao not even the early 2000s nostalgia could save it

      hi!!! i did get a haircut! lol i haven't had layers in like 7 years so it has been a journey ಥ‿ಥ but ty!!
      i have not heard of pemi aguda, but i will absolutely read it, i trust you with my life
      bro NO YOU DID NOT, i unironically loved blood and chocolate growing up!!!! have not reread it since my prefrontal cortex has now fully developed though, so i'm sure it is straight garbo wowowowow have not thought of that book in like 15 years , you just unlocked a core memory for me hahahaha but you should watch the movie too, it's a trip
      k love you more bye

      @@superblomper pemi aguda's collection is all like surreal horror kinda vibes ... a lot of like generational haunting kind of things going on ... i didn't skip a single story in the entire collection! so i hope you enjoyit too!!
      YES I DID! it does not hit the same as an adult unfortunately lOL turns out with a fully developed prefrontal cortex you are fully aware of how gross it is for a 16 year old to be mated with a 20 something year old guy who was prev dating her mom LMAO the entire time i was reading i wa s like UMMMM IS THIS ALLOWED?
      but I have seen the movie (i watched it immediately after reading the book) and i loved it like ... ok maybe love is a strong word but in comparison to the book i was like this is art!!!! LMAO (or at the very least like all the characters were aged up so like it was just morally a little better LOL) I'm so confused by how hugh dancy got involved in that project tho lik e... who was his agent? what were they doing??

    I see we're both looking forward to The Unworthy (Agustina Bazterrica).
    Worst: Into the Drowning Deep (Mira Grant), It Will Only Hurt for a Moment (Delilah S. Dawson). Huge disappointment.
    Beacon 23 (Hugh Howey), Stranded (Bracken MacLeod).
    Annie Bot (Sierra Greer): This book was so bad it's #1 *and* #2 on my list of worst books I read in 2024.
    This channel: You've recommended some great books and the experience is like walking into a swarm of confused bees......
    but in a good way. Love the channel. Happy New Year.

      definitely looking forward to the new bazterrica! i haven't heard of most of these, but i actually enjoyed annie bot!! it seems like people either love it or hate it. glad i can provide such a uniquely visceral experience (◡‿◡✿) happy new year!

    Grey Dog wasn't in my worst books but was in my biggest disappointments. The atmosphere and slow creepiness was good for me but I hated the ending! My worst book of the year BY FAR was Annie Bot by Sierra Greer. My first 1 star in 5 years. If I was rich I would pay people to not read it.

    • @superblomper
      @superblomper  27 днів тому +1

      That is so interesting!! Annie Bot was one of my favorites of the year 🫣 even more interestingly, I know people who also most enjoyed Grey Dog, but hated Annie Bot...

      @ My bad for trash talking one of your faves! But it really is so interesting. And how boring it would be if we all had the same taste.

      No worries at all!! It's more fun to discuss my faves with ppl who didn't love them cuz they often bring a perspective I never considered

    I dropped one book this year because it gave me the ick. Flopping in a Winter Wonderland by Jason June. The protag was just so insufferable and not gonna lie how he was describing his brother gave me the ick like… are you in love with your brother? I was listening to it so that probably made it worse.

    • @superblomper
      @superblomper  Місяць тому +1

      omg have you seen that old holiday folgers commercial where the brother and sister seem a lil **too close** ?? same vibes hahaha so icky
      the audiobook absolutely had to have made it worse ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ
