This guy is a genius. The Japanese King of Piano . One of my very favorite composers. ALL of his Tales works are just amazing. Final Fantasy's Nobuo Uematsu sadly is just not as good. Yuzo Koshiro (Sega), Motoaki Takenouchi (Sega RPGs), Masami Ueda (Resident Evil 1-3)... Their music was with me for decades. These guys literally make timeless gold EVERYTHING they touch.
"NEW" SUIKODEN with Motoi Sakuraba as composer A spiritual successor to Suikoden named Eiyuden Chronicle has been announced. It's being developed by Suikoden veterans including Suikoden creator Yoshitaka Murayama. The soundtrack is going to be composed by Motoi Sakuraba and Michiko Naruke (Wild Arms). The kickstarter is live until 29 August 2020 and very successful (by now $3,3 million): www.kickstarter.com/projects/rabbitandbearstudios/eiyuden-chronicle-hundred-heroes/description
I'm a die-hard Nobuo Uematsu fan. BUT Motoi Sakuraba just hits it in a way I don't see in very many other games. Golden Sun, Star Ocean, and the Tales of soundtracks are some of his best works. He also has a non-gaming album he released back in the 90's I think called Gikyokuonsou, and that feels like it could literally be a Star Ocean soundtrack lol.

Someone needs to point motoi in the direction of a youtuber named deathvine_68000. Who is a die hard motoi fan... He is able to perform motoi's style almost perfectly using the same sounds from tales of symphonia and golden sun. more people should know about him...what hes doing is amazing
Sounds like what SynaMax was doing with Yamamoto-sans style from the Metroid Prime games ... Before Nintendo issued takedowns on his channel a few days ago and completely destroyed his passion for doing Metroid inspired music 😡😡😡😡
Songs featured in the video (all from Star Ocean 4): 0:00 Ruin and Creation 0:41 Sunny Place (Gallant Remix) 1:35 The Bunny Hop 2:13 Past Days (Fantasy Remix) 3:58 Eureka! 4:58 Blood on the Keys 5:31 Ladies and Gentlemen 6:04 Live piano performance from Star Ocean's "Departure Theme" 8:58 Cosmic Voyagers
Really cool recommendation from UA-cam, as I'm a big fan of Sakuraba's works even since Tales of Symphonia and Golden Sun. Happy to hear he'll be composing for the Suikoden spiritual successor Eiyuden Chronicles (or however it's spelled). Sakuraba has certainly come a long way, but that prog rock spirit is kinda hard to beat. Could definitely use another soundtrack closer to Baten Kaitos though. Gods that was good sh*t.
Plin plin plon
The Star Ocean games would not be the same without him. No one can make you feel like you're flying through space like Sakuraba.
Dark Souls, Mario Tennis, Mario Tennis, Golden Sun and the Tales franchise, Motoi Sakuraba is right up there as my favourite video game composer.
I've listened to this guy's work for most of my life and had no idea what his name was till now.
He's done many games and I love his wild imagination.
I find this commentary super offensive and I will just ignore it
*laughs in Seraphic Gate*
His work for Valkyrie Profile 2 is amazing and I'm stunned to see so little mention of it.
Motoi doesn’t show mercy for his keyboards
Now i know why SO4 Battle theme is called "blood on the keys", he literally broken his keyboard while playing it 😂
I've been listening his music since the first Star Ocean, more than 20 years ago and its awesome to see this.

Ahh..relax with Nobou being not as good lol. The guy has a laundry list of music and was more unique in bringing sound to an old ass NES
This dude is a beast I love his infinite undiscovery and eternal sonata soundtrack

Thanks for pointing him out. I will listen to his stuff now.
@@nerdzone im glad, lol
@StoneTheMason Music
Am I correct that the music he does is his own, not covers?
Sounds like what SynaMax was doing with Yamamoto-sans style from the Metroid Prime games

@@nerdzone yes he makes his music from scratch ;-; aaaa
The best in the world
Yuka Kitamura is also excellent
THis interview is way too precious for us to get to know the composer himself ! Very nice !
Please live forever.
Valkyrie Profile was his best.
Confidence in domination
having heard both I would say SO2 is his magnum opus.
Heard Eternal Sonata?
First saw this video back in the day when I bought the Star Ocean 4 Soundtrack.
I love that now I know what he's saying.
Thanks! :)

Better yet what is the actual song name played at 6:04 I keep typing a tutorial for that using the title you gave and nothing actually pops up

When I watched this video back in the day, I didn't know he was expressing his pain at how he broke two of his beloved keyboards in a row.
Wait you're telling me the guy who brought us "plin plin plon", is the same guy who brought us Gaia Rock? oh my lawd.
Motor Sakuraba much...
When can we expect the star ocean 6 soundtrack? Lol
im hoping he makes an appearance in elden ring to give us more depression with music
:(
If only...
@@sekiwannoookami5711 yup...

I really expected like one guest track from him, preferably a boss theme. Oh well
