Really like the design of the Zaku Mariner. The design reminds me of a space marine from WH40K with the larger shoulder pauldrons and the big backpack. Would be a great base for a Space Marine custom if or whenever I can get my hands on one.
ZZ is one of my favourite series, and I wish the army builders from the series got reprinted more often and we had more kits from the series, especially newer ones. Plus, I love Zakus. This kit was made for me. Other than the stickers. They look like they're gonna be... rough to deal with.
1:03 Be careful what you wish for, as you know how greedy Bandai has been recently in the past years with their recent P-Bandai releases (releasing kits that should have been REGULAR releases). You never know, they might make a HGUC Kapool ZZ version, but is slapped with the P-Bandai logo.
@@sawysauce1256 The Kapool possibly has more screen time than the Turn-A in Turn-A Gundam. It's also piloted by multiple named characters and even gets a commander variant in red with a Zaku horn and rocket fist.
Wow! Great job with the review as usual! I had just bought and built this one recently when I finally saw it in my local hobby shop after missing it a few times already! Yeah, the trigger finger hand being the only option along with the stickers including one for the collar plate was not great, I had fun building some mid-early HGUC aspects of the kit, especially being an aquatic kit to stand alongside my OYW aquatic kits, especially next to the Gundam Marine Type!
Hiii For those who want to paint it, be careful with the subroc butt that scratches the paint of the elbow or other while trying to find the right angle of the wrist.. Thank you for the video :)
One thing that I've found with a lot of the mono-eye kits is that you can use the metallic gundam markers on them, especially the non-metallic stickers, and put them in place which makes it look more like a painted detail and hides the edges.
@@redactedz6146 Yep, haven't done it with the metallic ones since most mono-eyes are a single sticker, but it makes it look like a detail that's part of the sculpt rather than separate unless you get really close and inspecting it. Part of the reason is that it doesn't have the potential issues around the edge with the sticker paper being visible but it's also just that it's paint there. Add with most mono-eye kits, the eye is partially concealed on the edges by the helmet, and you get a great look. I discovered it by accident in trying to fix a damaged sticked for the normal HG Z'gok, but I've done it for a few kits since then...especially with ones with narrow visor areas such as Char's Gelgoog where it actually makes it semi-visible.
so apparently, there was a major error for this kit, as this is actually the Unicorn version of the Zaku Mariner, despite the box art saying it's the Double Zeta version.
@1guntankfanZz version has green, no shoulder armor, different legs, different backpack, different gear, different head. A complete blunder on for to bandai part. Mistake big.
@churro5322 looking at screenshots and lineart from ZZ the differences are slightly different colors and slightly different legs, the legs look more like standard zaku which is an option the kit provides
I almost got this kit a while back. I hadnt watched unicorn yet so i didnt really know what it was lol EDIT: didnt know this was originally a ZZ mobile suit, lmao
Lightning type Zaku: Johnny Ridden custom Fire type Zaku: Blaze ZAKU Phantom Psychic type Zaku: High Mobility (Reuse "P" Device) Dark type Zaku: Black Tri-Stars custom Grass type Zaku: Zaku Tank (08MST) Ice type Zaku: Shin Matsunaga custom Ground type Zaku: High Mobility (Surface Type) Rock type Zaku: Doan's Zaku Flying type No Zaku: Gouf Flight Type Fairy type Zaku: Zaku I Blaster Mari custom Poison type Zaku: Zaku I w/ G-3 Gas Launcher
but this is a kit for a mobile suit from Double Zeta! :o but then again, this IS the Unicorn ver, the box mislabels it as being the Double Zeta ver... so nevermind lmao
This MS is interesting because it was made by the EFF after the OYW using the Zaku Marine Type data left by Zeon (zaku mariner is a improvement ofc) But the EFF never got to use it because Neo Zeon captured the units (as seen on ZZ)
To add onto your talk of Revive and Origin Zakus.. this is more of a contemporary to the HGUC High Mobility Zakus of Shin Matsunaga, Johnny Ridden, and the Black Tri-Stars kits. The origin Zaku would come out 3 years-ish later (2015) after they've all released
Loving reviews of older kits like this, cause many either don’t or have very outdated reviews
I think you review these older kits just to bring me back, because no one escapes the gunpla. NO ONE 🙂
No One puts old gunpla in the corner......except when backlogged lol

The plethora of bootleg companies willing to make bootlegs out of P-Bandai releases: aight bet
If the suit hasn’t had a major scene dedicated to itself or if it isn’t piloted by a named character it’s almost guaranteed to be premium.
@ Rose, Maxter, Dragon and the upcoming Bolt Gundam in Hg be like: Bruh...

that is comunication cable. so that enemies cant tap into radio communication. That is really nice kit, I should get it

One of my favourites, my first gunpla coming back to the hobby back in like 2015
The Momokapool was my first High Grade!

Ooo, interesting stuff. To clarify, what you're saying is paint a sticker with the appropriate marker color and place it on the kit?
