Either Havertz or Nketiah for me. Unpopular opinion I know but Jesus has been having stinkers of late. This is a huge game for us so I just cannot trust him to be the one to score the goals tbf.
That said, if Saka doesn't start, I'd love seeing Jesus at RW instead. He'd be great dropping into the Ø-zone or into the pockets to carry the ball into the box and lay it off.

ESR has got more than enough to be a squad player who pushes for a starting place in this squad. He’s quality. I totally disagree with Jordan that we need to sell him - not many midfielders out there with his profile and skill set.
I think the key things for him are going to be:
- Availability - can he stay fit/injury free?
- Performances, especially off the ball - can he show the defensive awareness required from the 8 role? He really showed something against Luton on that front (see first goal, for example)
- His career ambitions/trajectory- does he want/need guaranteed minutes? If so, then he’ll need to move on.
I like ESR but we have to move on unfortunately. His injuries have really affected him big time and we’re in a position in the squad where we can’t wait for him - The squad is in a place where we need to evolve and get in another 8

How do you think we f’d ourselves towards the end of Wenger’s reign? Big contracts for players not worthy of the money. Same at Utd, same at Chelsea now, if you don’t spend/use your money wisely it will catch up to you.

Yesterday game reminded me of 22/23 especially in the first half. Fluid build up, more progressive passes and direct, more chaotic but more vulnerable in transition which shows how important a signing declan rice was. I cant wait to see the Rice Partey Odegaard midfield. Amazing trio
Some teams have fan bases in the stadium that make it a fortresses and it’s jumping every game. We as fans should strive to have that elite culture the same as we have high expectations for the players and the rest of the club. COYG🔴⚪️‼️
It’s more important to load the fringe players with minutes at this stage of the season than smashing Luton.

Everygame ESR has played he has gotten in Goal scoring position. If he is over the injury crisis we should absolutely keep him. It is only a matter of time before he starts cooking and we need to keep homegrown players in the Squad. ESR stays for me. Glad Jordan is not in charge!!

Raya’s tiki taka passing was amazing. Attracts the press. Play risky passes within tight area to beat the press.
Zinchenko is silky and tekky in the build up as usual, great performance. Opening up the opponent. Very smart and tiki taka capable.
Partey’s passing is levels above Rice. Breaking the line, progressive, and a lot of great “unnecessary” short combination passes to get through the opponent’s press.
ESR had a good game. His combination play was key to open up the match.
Trossard was amazing as usual. Tricky, skillful, technical, creative, smart and magical. Always reminds me of Hleb, Nasri and Cazorla.
Havertz miscontrolled the ball a few time losing some possession. He might have an assist but he is not a skillful/tekky player. Need to improve.
Agreed. That Raya-->Partey-->Odegaard combination play yesterday was amazing. Zinny was zinny but i think yesterday he showing how we are outgrowing him because even though he was inverting, Odegaard was dropping deeper and ben white was coming inside at times. It shows there isnt an over reliance on him.

@@thierryhenry674 I agree and he is useful against low blocks but I'm saying that isnt an over reliance on zinny. Tomiyasu and Kiwior arent technically better than Zinny but it wont affect our build up that much when we have Raya, Odegaard, White etc plus they can defend.

The streets forgot how good ESR is and how highly Arteta speaks about him. I love how James reminded the streets about ESR. When was the last time Arteta rushed back any player from a serious injury after learning his lessons from rushing back Partey in the Spurs game. I believe ESR has a vital part to play in this team in the future and I would never think to sell such a great talent
We got exposed once Kai was substituted! There was no one to fight or hold the ball up like he did! Secondly, in the second half, Luton started targeting Zinchenko! Until Tomi came on and nullified that that threat!

Not saying if we get a good offer we shouldn't think about it but of all the likely players sold this summer ( ramsdale, nketiah, Esr, Nelson) Smith Rowe has the best chance of staying purely in being a profile we don't have in the squad. Powerful runner, 2 footed, ball striking, pocket play, and an eye for goal. If he can return to that 21/22 form he becomes an invaluable asset.
Agree. He’s the one most likely to be kept by Arteta. He drives with the ball and he’s too-footed. I think we should keep him and offload- Nelson, Nketiah & Ramsdale. These three should get us £100M

ESR played the 1st half very well. ESR’s fitness & finishing needs to improve to be level with current starting XI or first XV, currently he’s outside our top 15. I’m also emotional about our own ESR, but, very good teams move on from emotions & take tough decisions to become great teams, we will need to take similar decisions about Eddie, ESR, Rees in summer and will leave that decision to Arteta, who we should all trust to make the right decision about them. For now, we need all of the bench to contribute including those three.

One of the things I have liked about arsenal this szz is the way arteta can coach us for any game state. We can press, We can sit well in a block that teams struggle to break down plus we can defend and score corners. We even havd throw ins for routines

Gabby has been the best defender/ player for Arsenal and in the league this season by a mile bar none! Rice has been superb but Gabby has been incredible.

I get James’ point about how we’ve been playing recently compared to February but I wouldn’t be too worried about it, on the flip side it shows again how we can find different ways to win or at least avoid defeat, if any teams play open against our strong lineup then we’ll still create plenty of chances, it’ll just be a matter of how many we take

I really like ESR. I think he has a high ceiling. In my opinion, his floor is too low for a fair shout in the first team. I think we would get good money for him in the summer.
This was a game that answered some questions for me. Did we learn from last year, dropping points against the bottom 5 teama? Yes. Did we learn about the fringe players? Yes. Did keep this emotionless and conserve energy? Yes. Can we keep runs going despite not having everyone fit? Yes.

Interesting question, with the situation at LB (Timber, Tomi, and Kiwior) do we transition Zinny to a CM role? He plays there for country and could be a good backup 8/CAM. He’s got good passing range and could probably play better D in that type of role
I didn't even had time to watch the last one, games are coming thick and fast.
The Luton game was not a great watch but it is refreshing as an Arsenal fan not having to win matches the hard way. I was chilled and relaxed knowing we were going to win.

MA didn't play Martinelli for a whole season a few years back and we were starting to think he didn't rate him either. Turned out he was giving him time for injuries to properly heal. I'm hoping that is what he is doing with ESR.

It felt like a Jan 1st come down, from a NYE, that being the high pressurized away game to CITY.
It's all about the 3pts per game from now on in, which makes up for & compensates for the flat game and atmosphere.
We've the hardest run in, though that could help us by needing to be up for every game, with the 2 other teams neck & neck with us.
MU will raise their game against us, Chels & Tott will not want to be amongst the teams that we beat to win the league, with the London derby unknown factor that can come with it.
But it's the Villa game that flashes red to me as it is the ham in the Bayern sandwich, so that will effect team selection and naturally so, focus.
Saka injury is concerning it’s more persistent than’s being let on, Reece’s failure to show more against Luton is seriously disappointing given that, Luton having 70% possession in the 2nd half wasn’t controlling the game imo. This squad hasn’t done enough yet to think it can cruise games, it’s a poor mentality imo.
Reiss and Eddie both got contracts to protect their value. They would’ve left on frees, but now we’ll get straight profit for them

The second goal is a carbon copy of what ESR did in training three weeks ago. Also Mikel previously hinted at ESR’s work ethic, and he looked completely different yesterday. He was fighting and engaging.

If Thomas Partey can get near to 100% of his abilities I think we actually are favourites to win the league. When he is at his best he is imo our best midfielder, even better than Odegaard (different profiles ofcourse). He is the perfect link for us getting momentum again and really suffocating teams when it matters
Good performance by the boys although I think Mikel could have rotated a lot more and/or perhaps incorporated a few youngsters. I was hoping to see Jesus, Nketiah, Fabio Vieira, Nwaneri etc. get much needed mins to get into the flow of things.
Ødegaard was knackered, so was Big Gabi & Wilo. They needed a rest as much as anyone especially with the hectic schedule that lies ahead.
Smith-Rowe STILL has the potential to be better than Saka. Ppl saying he should be sold are absolutely insane, I’ve been an Arsenal fan since 2006 and I’ve never seen a player move like him when he’s breaking. Incredible technique, acceleration, game intelligence. He’s also got an eye for goal, speeds up the game with his one touch passes and seems to have built up physically in this period on the sidelines. I think it’s a James said, Arteta has not been rushing him back, but rather training him to play how he needs to in the middle of the park. It will pay off, he looked better than ever yesterday…
