There was something special about this one for me. This was something different from any dance this series. The best way i can describe it is this, this dance was an outpouring of the emotion that has been pent up inside Maisie since day 1. The elegance, grace, and fluidity in her arms is dare i say some of the best we have ever seen on strictly. For me another faultless performer and THE deserving finalist this series. 10/10 I feel nothing but pride for Maisie this series. As someone who is of a similar age to Maisie and who much like her has been knocked down for being too confident or cocky, I can’t help but be proud for how much she has pushed through to deliver exquisite performance week on week, for me she should have been the deserving front runner the whole way through this competition. It’s unfortunate that the British public can’t handle a young girl who is confident in her own ability.
Sweetheart, no-one anywhere can handle a young woman with confidence, it was the same forty years ago as it is now because we are a long, long way from achieving full equality. (edited to add) confidence is still seen as a male quality rather than one possessed by some HUMAN BEINGS and not others. It is always worth bearing in mind that in a relatively recent Swedish Meta Study (a study of all the studies on gender differences) it was found that there are more differences WITHIN the genders than there are between the genders - demonstrating that gender differences are still very much a social construct.
As someone who often has barely any confidence, I can definitely tell she has nowhere near as much as people would like to think but she's still strong and that's just another reason people wanna judge her 🙄

This young lady is a phenomenon and whatever comes to pass as it all plays out, for me she has put herself up there with the best that there has been over the years. Good man Gorka for cultivating her aptitude and desire. What a team!
😲😲😲 Just everything was right. Not a single gap, her musicality, sway all the way through, her lines were finished beautifully, double rotation and her fleckel wow. Her top line was sublime and tonight her footwork was perfect. Such a beautiful stillness to her frame and lovely arched back. The storytelling and chemistry was on point. She totally relaxed in this and got everything right. She makes it look so easy. Graceful, elegant, sophisticated, stylish and romantic! Everything required for a Viennese Waltz. @@gonzaloperez5258 Viennesse is a more rotary dance so you're correct about the different technique. However the "slow waltz" is danced at around 90bpm whereas Viennesse is danced at around 180bpm.
Historically speaking, it's more accurate to say that English Waltz is a slower Viennese Waltz. And yes, the technique is different, but that is in response to the change in tempo, which is how we can compare Rumba to faster Afro Cuban dances.
They really don’t know how lucky they are for being able to dance such beautiful dances like this one. I have been taking Ballroom lesson for a while now and I miss dancing with my partner so much 🥺
This was absolutely gorgeous! She achieved everything she wanted to prove to the judges with her footwork and elegance. I really felt HER through the dance, the emotion was palpable and that made it really touching. Just stunning.
This was so so gorgeous, and it shows how far Maisie has come. Would we have ever thought at the start that we would see her glide across the dance floor like this? Emotion pitched perfectly and such a moving piece! Beautiful beautiful!

Almost perfect... so romantic, so soft, so sincere... Maisie felt the music with each and every cell of her body. Her quality of movement was superb, her frame and her upper body were great, it had sway, her spins were terrific, she didn't miss a heel lead, she was totally into this dance both emotionally and rhythmically. I wanted to see a tad more gliding while stepping backward, but other than that it was truly flawless. Just a tiny little detail and it could have been perfect! Other than that, as I've said it had everything a true Viennese Waltz should have. I was really swept away on a wave of Maisie's incredible talent, magnificent musicality, enchanting emotions of love, and above all that - terrific level of footwork and technicality. My score: a 9

@marie smithers unfortunately I doubt she will. She should win, or HRVY, but Bill will end up winning despite him being an average at best dancer. His tango was week 1 quality yet it was overmarked. For some reason people think he’s had a journey and a complete novice, when in fact, he’s had ballroom and Latin training and the only journey he’s had, is peaking in week 4 and being mediocre and sometimes poor since.

Jake Bowler She looked ridiculous with the guitar. She was holding it entirely the wrong way. And I’ve complained before about couples taking too long to get in hold, but this one took the p*** more than any other. They waltzed for 30 seconds of a 90 second dance.
would've been better without the guitar imo. I think Gorka's been trying too hard with props and extravagant sets this season meanwhile he has a partner who doesn't need any of that

It's a truly excellent piece of music to dance to and very popular on DWTS as well. Very moving but very believable, used on weddings a lot. Kimberley and maisie have been lucky ladies to dance VW to it.
This has been her best dance in my opinion. She dances incredibly well, but her facial expressions always make something feel off for me. She had a lovely genuine smile in this one, look great!

Why was there any need for a guitar in the dance akaksopapaa. This was brilliant though, one of the best dances I’ve seen on stricty. Think he’s going to win even though I definitely believe that would be the worst decision. He came into this show with a strong fan base anyways maisie has had to work her arse off to get people on her side. I do want a miracle to occur and somehow Maisie wins but this only happens in my mind lol. Think it’ll be bill or HRVY. Bill is just a crap dancer overall but he has the popular vote unfortunately for doing the bare minimum.
This was terrific, both the dancers and the band and singer, I'd never heard " A Thousand Years " before, so I looked it up and got Chrstina Perry, which version was, IMO, not a patch on the Strictly singer, Could have been ever better without the daft guitar, but he traditional Viennese Waltz elements were exquisitely performed. Although it's a departure from International Standard, I loved her gliding curtsy near the end of her dance, so graceful and full of meaning. Did anyone else hear her soto voce "I love you" when the dance ended? Dangerous things, microphones!

Okay I did compare this to Kimberley Walsh's VW in 2012 and I'm not gonna lied, I like this one better. The fluidity and the constant rotations were A-MA-ZING!!! Similar to Ranvir's waltz, it was light as a feather in the execution department. The ballroom hold was amazing once they got into it. However, WHY DID GORKA INCORPORATED THE GUITAR THE ROUTINE FOR LONGER THAN NEEDED! It felt like it was channeling Catherine and Johannes Rumba last year. I mean Im still giving it a *10!!!* but I could see why it got a 9 from Craig.

Unfortunately with the current judging panel it will be a popularity competition, blame the producers for why the structure of the show is the way it is.
BBC spinny camerawork makes it very hard to watch such wonderful dancing, why I never watch the program live and often have to look away from the screen.
I already saw this dance with the guitar somewhere....I don't know if it was in Strickly or Dancing with the stars. But it was the same dance and with the guitar.
