● Leah Salonga is the international Broadway diva ● Shes the first asian who won a Tony Awards in Miss Saigon ● Shes the voice from the Disney movie Alladin as Jasmine and Mulan as Mulan ● Shes the first asian whod been into biggest Stage play and act in the world from west end and many more
Lea Salonga. - Broadway Diva - Both played Eponine and Fantine - First Asian to win a Tony Award - Disney Princess; singing voice of Mulan and Princess Jasmine. and many moreee... the treasure of Philippines! Guys you should react on her version of Let It Go. #PrideOfPhilippines
that was the 10th anniversary concert of Les Mis...... she was Eponine then, after 15 years, on its 25th Anniversary concert she is Fantine... they say shes the only Asian to have done that...
Please try listening to her song The Journey, and We could be in love (its a duet though) and her cover of I Honestly Love you (these songs are on her first intl album sometime in 1990s after she did Miss Saigon)... her voice is clear and crisp.... flawless i may say... thanks for appreciating her too guys!!! one proud Filipino here...
Lea Salonga. Philippine's national treasure. First of the few to bring pride to the name of our country. BROADWAY SHOWS. named as one of Disney's Princess'. A Whole New World. Reflection. Jasmine. Mulan.
How could you love this song and not know lea's on broadway!!! Lea's salonga's On My Own is basically The standard. A lot of these "new" versions are based on Lea's. Although I really love Ruffelle's as well, Lea's version basically put Eponine on the map. anyway, love ya both!
OMG Finallyyyyy! Lea Salonga is a legend in Broadway. My fave from all the Pinoy singers by far! she won numerous awards for her role as Kim in Miss Saigon, Eponine and Fantine in Les Miserables. she was chosen to perform both at the LesMis 10th yr aniversary as eponine here in this video and as Fantine on the 25th yr anniversary concert! She is the disney singing voice of Jasmine in Alladin and Mulan. Gosh love her to death! that angel like crystal clear voice until today she looks and sounds perfect like she did'nt aged at all! Watch "A Little Fall of Rain" too her duet with Micheal Ball it always gives me chills and tears watching it..💋💖👌
first, react to her whole new world ( Brad Kane and Lea Salonga - A Whole New World (Studio) ) and afterwards react to the recent one wherein they collaborate again after years. (Lea Salonga and Brad Kane perform 'A Whole New World' on Good Morning America) she sounds literally the same and i'm like crying for my childhood.
Lea is.... The 1st asian to win Tony and Olivier Awards The 1st actor to win Grand Slam Best Actress if you include Drama Desk Awards The 1st non-white actor to portray Eponine in Les Miz The 1st actor to play both roles, Eponine and Fantine in Broadway. The 1st asian to perform in Oscar (a whole new world) The 1st asian singing voice of not just one but three Disney movies, Aladdin, Mulan and Mulan 2.
My favorite lines from this reaction video: 1. I love people who have clear vocals. 2. During these types of performances, you get a lot of emotion... 3. Wow! I can feel it! 4. I love this song! (me too!) 5. That full accompaniment just like rips you... 6. She just crawled up my list of favorites. I love how you guys appreciated this entire performance, not just Lea, but even the orchestra, the mood of the story, the song itself, and all that. ^_^ I enjoyed watching your reaction video.
This is from an anniversary concert. They assembled to an AMAZING cast! it's my favorite version of maybe my favorite shows. I cannot recommend watching this full concert enough
Lea Salonga's "Still Hurting" (In Rehearsal) is like one of the most emotional I've heard from her. The performance was so poignant, you wouldn't think it was just rehearsal. The song is from "The Last 5 Years" musical. One of the absolute best from Lea (and from anyone to be honest).
I'm a lifelong Lea fan...and an opera singer. I just happened to run across this video and ended up following your channel. You are such genuine, sweet, and passionate people.
Among those recognitions already mentioned, Ms. Lea likewise belongs to a very elite group of theatre actors who have won all five major theatre acting awards for a single role: Tony, Laurence Olivier, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Theatre World. The Theatre World Awards can only be won once and only for a debut performance.
She's Philippines Broadway Diva Has multiple awards in her name She's the singing voice of Jasmine (A Whole New World) and singing voice Mulan (Reflection). Her voice is not as powerful as those that can belt but her crystal clear voice is like a shining diamond. :)
Underfighter73 Philippines most successful singer is Regine Velasquez and Filipino most succesful singer in the world is Lea Salonga and that is my honest opinion
Lea (leh-yah) has been on countless musical theaters, both on broadway, west end and other countries. This was the 10th anniversary concert of les mis and she was also in the 25th anniv as fantine. :)
She played Eponine "on my own" on the west end & broadway & the first Asian Eponine. This performance was from the 10th anniversary of lesmiz and she also played "Fantine" where she sung "i dreamed a dream" on the 25than
she is our Broadway diva and also our Disney princess Jasmine and Mulan...she also won the Tony award for miss Saigon.... our pride and joy when it comes to Broadway/theatrical music 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭😊😊😊😊😊💗💗💗💗💗💗👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks for finally reacting to Lea Salonga, hopefully you'll do more of her performances...If Iam not mistaken she is the only one who got to played both Eponine & Fantine...maybe you can check out Lea's cover of Bruno Mars Grenade 😊
I used to watch LeaSalonga when she was in her grade school and i’m in highschool...and i’m excited to go home to watch show Tittled #LoveLeah. She and Her Brother Was the Host in that Kids Show, Shes Already Have A Good Command In English Her Accent is So Clear and She Sings So Good....and i wasn’t Surprised when i heard that She Will Play Annie In the Stage... Shes Already Professional Even When She Was Just A Kid.
Her reunion with Brad Kane singing A whole new world is also amazing and heartwarming at the same time. Hearing them sing again our childhood disney song. Just a beautiful way of bringing back of memories. She also sang her song "Reflections" in Disney Expo in 2011 and hell she still sound the same 👌👌👌
She was already a theatre actress at a very young age in the Philippines, entered the showbiz there too but also gave time for studies. She was a Med student when she got the big break as Kim in Miss Saigon (the original). Miss Saigon in London, and then when it was brought to the US, she almost did not get there. But Cameron McIntosh insisted she has to be in or no Miss Saigon there. She then got roles in Les Mis, and so many other musical theatre acts, concerts all over the world, Disney movie theme songs, etc. She is world-class!
One of my fave LES MIZ songs! (There are lots) One that makes me tear up is her character's "A Little Fall of Rain". Anyway, the acting is kind of limited here because this was the LES MIZ concert, not the actual performance of the whole musical. She returned to LES MIZ years later to play Fantine....Her name is pronounced as "Le-ya". As for other songs, just listen to the singing voices of Jasmine in "A Whole New World" (ALADDIN) and Mulan in "Reflection" (MULAN), Or maybe find vids of her doing MISS SAIGON (she was the first ever Kim). Maybe look for "Sun and Moon". When it comes to recording, she's not the belt-out type of singer, but I assure you, she's got that range, and she gets better as she ages because she continues to train. Also, I've seen her perform several times. Oh, find "The Journey" from the LITTLE TRAMP OST. It's a very nice song.
This is from the Les Miserables 10th anniversary concert with the 'dream cast'. Lea singing as Eponine. She also sang 'I Dreamed a Dream' as Fantine in the 25th anniversary concert. And she sang in both roles on Broadway (obviously not at the same time:)
hi there, this wasn't taken in Broadway... Lea reprised the role of Eponine during the Les Mis 10th Anniversary Concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London...
lea began her singing career as a child in the Philippines she perfomed the title role of annie in the musical theater and realeased some songs. she is also the original miss saigon. she won the role beating hundreds from around the world. she won a tony and olivier awards. she also was the singing voice of jasmin in alladin and Mulan. She mostly perform in Broadway. this is the song she used in her audition for miss saigon role. she did some pop like we could be in love with her alladin partner and also some local songs. but she is really mostly classically trained.
MORE ON LEA SALONGA PLEASE! SHES WORLD CLASS! SHES BEST TONY BEST ACTRESS IN BROADWAY FOR THE MISS SAIGON MUSICAL.. SHES LAURENCE OLIVIER BEST ACTRESS IN WEST END, LONDON ALSO FOR MISS SAIGON.. SHE DID THE SINGING VOICES OF DISNEY'S ALLADIN AND MULAN..
She's a Disney Royalty and is the Disney hall of fame already....original singing voice of Princess Jasmine from Alladin and Mulan in Mulan. She's also known and well respected in the theater world..Miss Saigon and Les Miss
This wasn't in Broadway. Les Misérables in Concert: The 25th Anniversary was performed and filmed at The O2 in North Greenwich, London, England on Sunday, 3 October 2010 at 1:30 pm and 7:00 pm.
This was from the 10th Anniv Concert of Les Miserables where she played Eponine (On My Own). In the 25th Anniv Concert for Les Mis they got her again to perform but as Fantine (I Dreamed A Dream)
*At age 18, she originated the lead role of Kim in the musical Miss Saigon, first in the West End and then on Broadway,[3] winning the Olivier and Theatre World Awards, and becoming the first Asian woman to win a Tony Award.[4] *Salonga was the first actress of Asian descent to play the roles of Éponine and Fantine in the musical Les Misérables on Broadway.[6][7] She also portrayed Éponine and Fantine, respectively, in the musical's 10th and 25th anniversary concerts in London. *She provided the singing voices of two official Disney Princesses: Jasmine in Aladdin (1992) and Fa Mulan in Mulan (1998). *She was named a Disney Legend in 2011 for her work with The Walt Disney Company.[8] *Salonga starred as Mei-li in the 2002 Broadway version of Flower Drum Song. *She has toured widely in the title role of Cinderella, among other roles, and as a concert artist. From 2015 to 2016, she returned to Broadway in Allegiance. [Source: Wikipedia ;b]
not quite hip hop but lea did cover robin thicke's "blurred lines" and one direction's "story of my life". If you're curious enough, you may want to check out her performances at @54 Below in NYC... and thank you for your reaction videos...hugs to you both!!!
Lea Salinga js the pioneer of broadway Miss Saigon. She won the beat actress award at Tony Olivier awards for Ms. Saigon and she’s the voice of jasmin of Alladon the whole new world and Mulan’s reflection song
This is the song that made Broadway respect asians like Lea. The Broadway actors were just waiting for Lea to mess up and prove that asians are not meant for broadway but fortunately Lea nailed it. They were impressed how good she is as musical theater actress. Cheers to Lea that she practically put Asia more specifically the Philippines in the map of musical theater globally.
Lea ("Lay-a") was specially selected to be part of the "Dream Cast" of this 10th anniversary special of Les Miserables. The whole cast is truly remarkable and deserving of their parts. Also, instead of doing the normal stage direction, the cast performed into microphones while the rest of the cast sat behind them on stage. This production was at the Royal Albert Hall in 1995 and was broadcast on PBS and then sold on VHS (I still have my copy!). Not to show my age too much, but I prefer this 10th special over the 25th special. Although Lea kicks ass in that production as well--she plays Fantine in the 25th and delivers as usual. Yah, she's a beast.
I don't remember her as a big belter like Regine (but I can be wrong), but in terms of accomplishments, she's international. She is a veteran in the business
Lea salonga's background is musical theatre and she's an Olivier and theatre World Awards winner and becoming the first Asian to win a Tony Awards. thanks
this was from the anniversary concert of les mis from, several years ago. I think you will enjoy listening and reacting to her singing "I'm Still Hurting" the rehearsal footage bec it has better quality and more close up. It is for a concert she did in NY. I hope you give it a listen.
well, since most already mentioned her being a disney princess and hottsam did mentioned this, she's fantine in the 25th anniv of les mos so, check that out as well. now as for OPM songs, look for her sana maulit muli rendition on her concert. lastly, you would enjoy her concerts coz she always pics an audience to sing with her singing a whole new world.. :)
she has a version of "blurred lines" ;) :D lea is a queen! ❤ of course KZ and Reg are queens too. im just soooo happy we got all these great singers in the philippines.
It's pronounced as Ley-ya in PH. But I'm pretty sure she wouldn't mind if you call her Lee-ya. She spent a lot of her time overseas so he must've been used to be called like that.
it's le-ya. :) she's also the singer on the official track of disney aladdin, 'a whole new world'.. If Im not mistaken she got reunited with the male singer recently and perform the song, though I cant remember which show. :)

Amazzingggg singer.
It's pronounced as Ley-ya in PH. But I'm pretty sure she wouldn't mind if you call her Lee-ya. She spent a lot of her time overseas so he must've been used to be called like that.
Notif Squaaaaaaad!!! ❤❤
it's le-ya. :) she's also the singer on the official track of disney aladdin, 'a whole new world'.. If Im not mistaken she got reunited with the male singer recently and perform the song, though I cant remember which show. :)
