Oh my goodness, the memories of the Avon lady, getting to play with all the samples, especially the tiny tubes of lipstick!! As for the foundation, I knew the minute you applied it it was a winner. It had such amazing coverage, but never looked heavy or cakey. I'm not a fan of super dewy foundation products because I never know what to do with all that shine. It just starts to look greasy, and trust me when I say, there is very little oil left in my skin, if any.😂Since my health has been deteriorating faster than I would like, I've decided I might splurge some on makeup, if it really is special. This one makes that cut so easily. And I haven't seen anyone talking about this product on YT. I hope the algorithm picks this video up and shares it often.
One reason I know I'll love this foundation is we are basically product "sisters." I think we could trade makeup for a day and it would be just fine!! I really love this foundation! It's so nerve wracking using the words Holy Grail, because I know everyone is different, and some may not like this, but I truly feel that this is an HG foundation!
And I LOVE that you have AVON memories too! ❤️ I think that may be when I fell in love with makeup? (Or at least contributed to it)! I LOVED seeing those little tiny tubes of lipstick!! 😍 It was better than any toy I could ever play with.

I've only tried the DM Yummy Skin once, and was sorely disappointed--but ONLY because I got in a hurry and didn't prep my skin properly. My bad, I know. Now looking forward to re-trying it with proper skin-prep. ;)

Hi happy to see you on my feed again. That does look gorgeous, I thought it was a little light at first I tend to go a bit darker than I need, I can wear Maybelline in the classic ivory, and I think you were 2n1 in double wear I use both 2c1 and 2w1, but the shade you wore in this foundation I think is definitely too light for me. I have seen you wear lighter shades in other foundation that I also have in darker shades so I guess for this one your not my shade twin. Im running to my Sephora app now for this. I'll try not to trip on the way 🤭
Hi Karen! SO happy you're here! 🤗 This foundation was a little light when first applied, but as it dried down, and warmed up to my skin, it got a little deeper in color. (Just an FYI as you hunt for your perfect shade. ❤️) I'm so glad you're going to try this one out! I'd love to hear what you think about it, once you've had the chance! Your gorgeous eyes look better without the patches, I'm sorry to say. I have them too, but I never use them. First of all, it's hard to make the eyes symmetrical. Second, it makes me look so different! Way more different than I'm comfortable with. Same goes for you, it changes you so much. To me, I'm sorry, you are more beautiful without them.

Those eye patches are tricky. I guess my eyes are hooded differently on each side, because for the life of me, I just couldn't;t get them to match! So glad to know I'm not alone in this. I'm glad I tried them, just to see, and now they can happily stay in a drawer... until I need them for a special effects type project at least!

I'm so frustrated as all of the foundations give me a cakey look, they all "cracked ". I'm nearly 40,with very little fine, expression wrinkles (eyes area), with mix skin(T-zone), but the foundation "cakeys", everywhere, it doesn't matter if I apply it with my fingers, a flat foundation brush, a round foundation brush, with the beauty blender(wet or dry),... and I'm a typical ginger, i would like to cover my freckles, at least once.
Only Dermacol seems to work but I can't find the tone. That's another issue. I'm very pale, "paler" than Casper. 😂

So, I thought we could start with this to try to troubleshoot why you’re foundations keep caking up on you. From what you’ve mentioned, its sounds like you’ve tried several foundations, and they all cake up?
If so, I think we should examine what’s happening underneath to start…. I don’t know if you use moisturizers (and /or serums and sunscreen) underneath your foundation., but sometimes certain products just don’t play well together under foundation…. So let me try to get a glimpse into what your routine is like.
Too much skincare layered underneath can make foundation difficult to work with, and on the flip side, skin not being moisturized enough, can make it difficult too.
So, I’m curious to just start here, and see if one of these scenarios sounds like what you’re going through?
I used to put a big slab of moisturizer on my face in the morning to combat my dryness until I learned that it didn’t really help to put so much moisturizer on at one time, and it would make my foundation look cakey.
On the other hand, if I don’t have any moisturizer on my face, it’s too dry and my foundation looks patchy and uneven.
If you’re comfortable sharing with me what your morning routine is, and what products you’re using, I can try to start with that, and then we can move forward into what foundation you might like best!

I'm close to turn 40 years young (🙈😂) and my skin is as described on my previous comment.
My morning skincare is this:
- Yepoda cleanser or Lancome mousse/gel eclat or lait galatee comfort.
- The Ordinary hyaluronic acid 2% or La Roche Posey Hyalu B5 acqua gel
- La Roche Posey Anthelios UVmune 400 +50
I wait between applying products for the previous one to be absorbed.
Then I apply a primer(I have lots) and the foundation (same). I follow the rule of both being based in water or oil, I mean primer+ foundation water based OR primer+ foundation oil based.

Anyway, your skin care routine sounds fantastic! ❤ So now that, that's covered, let's talk about foundation and application!
(and please forgive me if you already know all these things... but we'll start from here!)
--I like to take a tissue after letting my skincare sit for a few minutes and just press it on to my face to absorb any excess (especially in the little area around the sides of my nose.)
--One thing I researched, when making my "Film star Foundation" video about how the MUA on the set of the TV show, "Westworld," makes her actors skin look so flawless, is by NOT using primer...she is of the opinion that adding primer is one more layer that can possibly interact with all of the other layers of skincare and is just one more thing that "can go wrong." so you might want to experiment with not using primer.
-Next up, and this is the COMPLETE opposite of what I do in my videos (because on camera I have to put the foundation on heavier to be able to be visible on camera...) But in real life, I use 1 pump or 2 at the most for the entire face. I used to try to hide my hyperpigmentation and acne with my foundation, until I learned that a VERY thin layer of foundation was key, followed by spot concealing any areas with concealer afterward.
--Next up I take my slightly damp beauty blender and wrap it in a tissue (I demonstrate this in my last video titled" Full Makeover" if you wanna see it in action...) but I then take the Beauty blender covered by the tissue and bounce it all over my whole face to pick up any excess foundation.
--The place my foundation tends to get the most cakey is around my nose so I do my "foundation hack' there... I have a short on it if you want to see that one in action too... but basically I use a q tip to remove the foundation from around and underneath my nose, and then I take a powder foundation (not a setting powder or finishing powder, but an actual powder foundation that matches my skin tone) and I use a tiny brush to put the powder foundation around my nose instead of having liquid foundation there, because liquid ALWAYS cakes around my nose!
--Finally, Powder is good, but sometimes I prefer to use something like a Mally EverColor Powerless Face defender, instead of a powder. It's a clear gel that mattifies and sets, without making the foundation look cakey. (you put it on like a powder, and just the tiniest bit is needed.)
--Finally, I thought I might ask what coverage level of foundation you like? I noticed you mentioned you liked Dermacoll in one of your comments, which of course is full coverage, is that your preference to have a full coverage finish? If so, and you try the above, and it's still not working, then maybe we should talk about the specific foundation formulas that might work out best for you?

It looks lovely on you! So refreshing to see someone over 20 doing makeup videos. I am 44 and have those pores, some fine lines starting, and texture. I am super oily on my T Zone, so how do you think this foundation might do? I also just bought the Nars Soft Matte based on your review. HAHA! It is beautiful, and I love it. Hi Shannon! ❤️ Thank you so much for your incredibly sweet comment! 🥹 I appreciate your thoughtfulness so much! 💕 Also, SO happy to hear you love the NARS Soft Matte Foundation! When comparing the two, the MARS soft Matte definitely has a more matte finish to it, than the Polite Society, and the coverage is a little more substantial. I definitely think the Polite Society could work for you, but you'll probably want to go the other way than I did in the video (at least in the T-zone) and possibly use a mattifying primer beforehand. One thing I loved about this one was that it was kind of like the "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" of foundations.... (forgive me if you don't also have a four-year old at home, and have forgotten that story 😂...) But I refer to it that way because the Polite Society foundation isn't "Too" anything.... it isn't too matte....isn't too dewy.... isn't too light coverage.... isn't too heavy.... if that makes sense... I feel like it's one of those that can be slightly manipulated by the skincare/primer used underneath for those with a variety of skin types. I hope that helps! And if you do end up deciding to try it out, I'd LOVE to know your opinion on it, and how it works for you! ❤️🌷🤗
Love your channel, just wanted to say most of the time, the Amazon “AOA” sponges are not actually from AOA. I’ve bought them before and liked them but did notice a bit of a difference, so I ent back to find out that the company on Amazon copies the exact same packaging but no where on it does it say that it’s AOA. You may have found the actually AOA sponges on Amazon but I did notice the replica and wanted to let you know.

Hi Catherine! 🙂 My sincere apologies for not getting back to your questions earlier. We had a death in the family, and I've been taking some time off. I LOVE the question you asked though (and the other one about foundation swatches, which I will answer after this one...)
So, I'm planning to do some videos explaining all about undertones and foundation selection.... there's so much information out there, and I'd really love to help by making a concise video that breaks it down... so keep an eye out for that! ❤️
To answer your question here though.... I have a neutral undertone (a mixture of cool and warm undertones.) In one way it's unfortunate to have a neutral undertone, because foundation makers rarely make foundations with a TRUE neutral (even mix of cool and warm) undertone. Many times foundation companies put out a shade that they call, "cool" but it really has a neutral undertone... SO I really try to go off of what I see when I swatch the foundations, rather than how the companies name them.
Now the fortunate thing about being a person with a neutral undertone, is that sometimes I can kind of "cheat" it a bit, and wear a slightly warm tone, or a slightly cool tone, without it looking too "off" on my skin.

Just gorgeous 💕 it held up really well and doesn’t look like it oxidized at all either! I am excited to try this one! It is definitely on my list. We've been really cold here too! But not quite as cold as you have been, and luckily we haven't had any snow stick just yet in our immediate area (I love snow.... but I like it to stick between Thanksgiving and Christmas! 😂)
This foundation is so wonderful! The primer and the brush were a magical combination for it too! I'm really in love with it! 🥰 And the good news is, if you need a lighter shade, there were still several shades lighter than mine to choose from! Thank you for the review. Which would you say is less dewy? The polite society or the Nars light reflecting?
Great question... They are different in terms of dewiness... The Polite Society isn't dewy per se, it just has that effect when you kind of turn your head in the light, it reflects off the cheekbones (but not "sparkly" at all.) It's kind of what I would refer to as "Barbie" skin... it looks matte, but if you look at Barbie in the light there would be a little gleam off of her skin.
The NARS light reflecting is so interesting in that it has almost a luminous (again not "sparkly") property to it which allows it to really catch the light, but not be SO dewy that you look overly hydrated. I find the light reflecting properties of the formula similar to the Haus Labs foundation and the JOAH BB Cream.
Overall, if I had to pick one, I would say that the NARS light reflecting would probably look more dewy on your skin due to how much it reflects the light.

It maybe a nice foundation but to expensive for me I think the Maybelline 24 hour skin tint puts a beautiful finish on your skin right now. That is my favorite foundation

Unfortunately this is only at Ulta and not in store by me, the shades from the comments make me not want to try ordering without swatching. Being a " foundation kinda lady" myself I have too many already but...... I'm very curious about both this one and the Fenty beauty stick. Hopefully you will try that one and help a girl out 😀

I came for the review of the foundation (thx!) but wanted to comment on the eyeliner. Does it run/smear and how well does it last? The packaging is exactly like the Lancome Idol Ultra Precise which is SO great but SO expensive. Would love to find a lesser $ replacement for it.
Hi there! 🙂 Thanks so much for your question! I agree with you that Lancome makes some of the BEST eye products out there! (I used to sneak over to the Lancome counter when I worked for CLINIQUE and try out their testers! 🤫 (only when we didn't have customers of course! 😂 ) As far as the Maybelline Hyper Easy Eyeliner goes... I love it. In fact I used to ONLY use the Kat Von D (now called: KVD Beauty) Tattoo Eyeliner, because it was the only I could find that was super black, lasted all day, and didn't smudge. I have to tell you though, that I now reach for my MAYBELLINE one more! It has the same qualities I liked in the KVD, but it is so much less expensive! Plus I love that it's not a "felt" type tip, it's a true "brush" with a SUPER fine tip, so you can do a super subtle line or build it up! I can't tell you if it will love it the way you do your Lancome... but I definitely think it's worth a shot! (fingers crossed you love it!) Hope this helps! 💕 Have a great day!

Are the shades running very yellow? Too Faced shades run very yellow. Jarrod Blandino used to own Too Faced…
Great question! I didn't find them to be quite as yellow toned as most Too Faced foundations. The only shade(s) I hope they will incorporate a bit more (as this hopefully sells successfully and expands) is more olive based undertones. But they have a really nice range from light to deep, and although I was a little nervous that the shade I chose would look to yellow on my skin, it actually blended in quite beautifully! ❤️ Hope this helps! 🤗

😂 haha! Right?! They think of everything these days! ❤️ It's not too expensive, and can easily be purchased from Amazon. It allows you to basically hold up the extra skin on the eyelid that makes your eyes look hooded. But the hard part (for me) is getting them on symmetrically! 🤪
