I can happily confirm that I have now completed upgrading both of my SPD-SX's to 32gb and are now running perfectly. Thank you very much from New Zealand Leigh, this video series is an absolute God send! 👍👍👍
Leigh, Thank you for the great series of videos. The memory limitations on my SPD-SX have been a problem for me. I am always juggling files depending on the gig. Today, I opened the machine and upgraded the memory. All I had was a 32GB SD card, so I used that. So far, so good. All seems to be working very well. For those of you asking about the specs of the micro SDHC card, mine is a Samsung microSDHC UHS- I (model MB-MC32G). I'm not sure if you mentioned this in your series, but when I put the new card in my computer to ensure it was empty, I went ahead and copied all of my SPD-SX files (backup up before I ripped into the unit) to the new SD card prior to installation. When I booted the SPD-SX with the new card installed, the SPD-SX was 100% identical to what it looked like before the upgrade. It does take a few seconds longer to start up now, which makes sense due to the increased size of the RAM. However, my files seem to load faster - probably due to the increased speed of the SD card. 32GB is certainly overkill, but it is cool to see that with 120+ files on the unit, I still have 25GB of space available!
Chris and Leigh, please could you help me solve my problem. How do you get more than 100 kits after the upgrade!? It still stops at kit 100 it recognises my extra memory space now 32gb and I’ve got up to date firmware but it’s essentially useless as I can’t add anymore kits where am I going wrong
Can confirm as of 2023 put in a Samsung Plus Evo 32gb card was straight swag and worked no problems, everyone should do this, especially Roland when it first came out....hahah
Leigh, thank you, your videos are super helpful. It took me 10-15 min to upgrade memory on my SPD. I was super careful but I didn't disconnect that flat cables. I was just open it wide enough to get to the SD memory card. You can see photos here:drive.google.com/drive/folders/1011vtDWt_EIdmBmXVwFM5SBVt1gkrVfn?usp=sharing The hardest part of the job was opening the SPD. Thanks again for your helpful videos. Greetings from Croatia.
@@cariaddrums, Thanks I double checked your video and noticed the ribbon strips were turn around. I turned them the right direction and got her up and going. Great vids btw!!
