As long as you aren't neglecting your health or relationships I don't see the problem in putting time into something you enjoy. WoW has been out for 16 years now(or 5940 days as of the 27th of February), a year being 8760 hours, you'd only need to average an hour and a half a day to hit 1 year of playtime assuming you started day 1.

I have 400 hours in Magicka Wizard Wars before they closed the servers. That game changed the way i felt about mobas and ive never played one as good. I spent well over 200$ to support the devs. Really sad it died.
I loved that game too! The 1v1 duels were *intense*, especially because you could technically see the spells your opponent was queueing and react. I kinda hoped the addition of a more typical moba-mode would save it, but apparently not. The worst part is I can't fully enjoy the singleplayer Magicka either because Wizard Wars did such a great job expanding and balancing the spells. Singleplayer magicka often ends up with spamming whichever overpowered spell counters the enemy you are up against.
Evolved had more issues than just the concept, it was so bare bones and was being uber mega greedy with its monetization at launch. And no one was interested in coming back even after they tried to fix it.
I honestly believe that the 1 hr/day (on average) that you have spent on Isaac is probably one of the most productive activities you've done in the past decade; and I don't mean that in the sense of channel growth and recognition. I mean it from the 'personal growth' stand point. My understanding is that Isaac for you has been a consistent yet unofficial way of practicing your improvised stand-up in a free-association sort of way. It has been some kind of "meditation" if you will even if it hasn't been every day. I remember the videos from 8-9 years back and the quality of conversations you have (at least from my humble perspective) has substantially grown. But hey, that could be just me imagining things ^^
Just in the top 10 video games you have spent ~313.21 days playing video games with just under half of all those hours being the binding of issac rebirth at ~149.58 days, quickly dropping down to ~36.58 days playing dota, and ~28.21 days playing Slay the Spire. I just felt like doing the math since I saw that nobody else did. Really makes me wonder how many days worth of time I've spent gaming and watching UA-cam xD
My top 5 1. Team Fortress 2(2650 hrs) Played it since 2013 2. Garry's Mod(1145 hrs) Played it since 2014 3. Rust(419 hrs) Played it since 2022 4. Left 4 Dead 2(245 hrs) Played it since 2021 5. Left 4 Dead(100 hrs) Played it since 2021

Only thing that beats it is Evolve for me, I can't believe it didn't take off, meanwhile Dead by Daylight picks at it's remains... smh. Funnily enough Evolve was also my Magicka: Wizard Wars. Can't go pro in a game with no more servers tho haha Edit: Oh, he talked about Evolve too! Finally someone who understands. Gamers and gaming journalists really can be fickle creatures.
NL ONLY having 270 hours in Gungeon is insane to me, because that man made HUNDREDS of videos on it iirc. And I personally have over 600 hours yet I'm probably 1/4th as good as him 😭
Chrono Ark is actually the most underrated roguelike. Not because its objectively better than the ones mentioned in the vid but because way fewer people know about it and its so so good. NL isn't gonna see this random comment on a 3 year old video the algo served me but hopefully this makes at least more 1 person try the game :)

"....Never disrespect a legend"
*Tomo vomits*
Evolved had more issues than just the concept, it was so bare bones and was being uber mega greedy with its monetization at launch. And no one was interested in coming back even after they tried to fix it.
The "review" segment absolutely busted me hahahaha
A show segment where Ryan reads and awards Steam reviews would be incredibly pog.
The most important thing to remember is time you enjoyed wasting isn't time wasted
"If we're doing Draw My Life"
We would all love to see this
Just in the top 10 video games you have spent ~313.21 days playing video games with just under half of all those hours being the binding of issac rebirth at ~149.58 days, quickly dropping down to ~36.58 days playing dota, and ~28.21 days playing Slay the Spire.
I just felt like doing the math since I saw that nobody else did. Really makes me wonder how many days worth of time I've spent gaming and watching UA-cam xD
Magicite may be the most criminally underrated rogue-like of all time.
Algorithm blessed us, NL needs to do a list like this but it's the "Northernlion Peloton Playlist" song listen time.
When he started listing the segment games brought me back to all the NLSS streams I used to be able to catch. Such a fun community
RIP Evolve, it was ahead of its time literally one of my favorite games
His take on Evolve was the deep wisdom of this whole segment. That game was ahead of its time imo
The problem with evolve was 140$ worth of day one dlc on a 60$ game, not the gameplay itself haha
2:31 "I have 3500 hours in path of exile" that's what i was thinking and somehow you took it out of my mouth
the dramatic reading of that review was somehow the best part of the video
Oh gee i wonder what the most played game is going to be
Never would've guessed it would be marbles on stream, guess he just plays it on twitch a lot
Seeing those numbers on your steam makes me curious to see how many hours I’ve spent watching content on UA-cam. Oof.
Egg-zactly.
I... I don't want to know this number. 😅
My time would probaly be 10,000.
@@necroxd3423 Pfft, rookie numbers
My top 5
1. Team Fortress 2(2650 hrs)
Played it since 2013
2. Garry's Mod(1145 hrs)
Played it since 2014
3. Rust(419 hrs)
Played it since 2022
4. Left 4 Dead 2(245 hrs)
Played it since 2021
5. Left 4 Dead(100 hrs)
Played it since 2021
NL roasting the spelunky reviews at the end is too good
Friendly reminder to cancel that unused server payment
Also solidarity with Flash Isaac soundtrack
That reading of the Spelunky review at the end was poggers and it got me real good. Honestly, maybe a little segment thing to read out long reviews (almost like bedtime story stuff lol)?
So great to hear someone else talk about how underrated Splinter Cell Blacklist was and is. One of my favorite underrated games ever. Only thing that beats it is Evolve for me, I can't believe it didn't take off, meanwhile Dead by Daylight picks at it's remains... smh. Funnily enough Evolve was also my Magicka: Wizard Wars. Can't go pro in a game with no more servers tho haha
Edit: Oh, he talked about Evolve too! Finally someone who understands. Gamers and gaming journalists really can be fickle creatures.
We need to remind him to cancel that server bill.
NO, FOR THE OORDER
KILL THOSE PESKY ARCHERS
NL ONLY having 270 hours in Gungeon is insane to me, because that man made HUNDREDS of videos on it iirc. And I personally have over 600 hours yet I'm probably 1/4th as good as him 😭
My man giving the shoutout to Evolve. One of my favorite games.
Can't believe this man didn't even acknowledge GTA 5. That was a legendary sunday stream along with NV that even foreshadowed the Dadsquad we now have
NL forgot the drama that was behind Evolve when it launched.
Yeah, a premium game with 150$ worth of dlc on day one... How anyone involved didn't go "guys, we're gonne get lynched" is beyond me lol
@@sivasiva-jl5tc no game gets a free pass for that shit from me :)
My mans NL be coming with the genius video ideas
26:32 legitimately how i feel each remaster gets released. 😂 Love it.
pubg is a game that truly feels like a trend game, it looks garbage, it plays like garbage yet it was the best thing for like a year
Except there still is truly nothing like it on the market. Other games that have been released still aren't as deadly or realistic feeling as that game is. Warzone might be close, but even then not really.
@@BaneWilliams warzone might not have as fast time to kill as pubg, but everything is vastly superior in warzone to pubg
I miss the Culling. It was my favorite game and it was the reason my Steam name is the name it is today.
We love da northerlion. Keep pogging brother.
Seeing Nuclear Throne just made me feel all the nostalgia. Middle school days
Oh my God the man played the best melee slasher ever, last years 1200 hours in that game are redeemed
It really is sobering knowing ive watched isaac from you for like 10 years. Egg has grown so much :)
Nuclear Throne definitely is the most underrated rogue like imo. With Ultra Mod it’s unreal on a replayability level.
Balatro would probably crash this list today
Extremely relaxing and wholesome vid, it's nice to look back and reflect :)
all the reviews are so wholesome.
When NL was reading the Sperlunky review I couldn't help think this is what Luna gets instead of bedtime stories.
I'd love to see a oneoff series where you go back to some of the old games!
My top 10 (not only Steam)
1-Isaac 2500h
2-Red dead redemption II 928h
3- The Witcher 3 924h
4- Hollow Knight 670h
5- Battlefield 1 (for some reason) 507h
6- Enter the gungeon 382h
7- Zelda Botw 240h
8- Battlefield V 201h
9- Minecraft 198h
10- Battlefield 3 192h
Such a peaceful video, definitely enjoyed it! Can't believe I have almost triple NL's playtime on SMB3 though...and I'm still stuck on 60 ego
Just a literal stroll down memory lane... Oh the nostalgia
"What can you say about Counter Strike: Global Offensive™?"
*_Post review_*
Splintercell blacklist was sick. I played that for a while, even on my crappy laptop it was still great. The customisability, the stealth missions, and also the coop missions were a ton of fun. It's a good one for sure
Not sure why this has randomly been recommended to me
4:27 Can't imagine anyone else thinking that way, what a god
Games that were ever popular NLSS segments (mount your friends, tricky towers, duck games, ultimate chicken horse, golf, ect.) it shocks me that the hours are all the way down there. I feel I watched so much more of it than that but it’s hard to say.
Crazy how Isaac wasn't even in the top ten.
wot
He should probably play more, i think.
@@Blittzz No, that would be career suicide
Finally someone else who shares my opinion that Magika Wizard Wars was actually incredibly great and overlooked.
I've been curious about this. Cool video to see.
@hello Kaguya-Wants-To-Be-Confessed-To character Hayasaka Ai
NL with music be hitting different
Tomo's review of Flash Isaac was still more eloquent and fair than the majority of negative Steam reviews.
This was such a pogged and nostalgic segment +1000
Damn, you can really see from NL's face he lost some weight. Good on him.
omg 20:00 NL a fellow Splinter Cell Blacklist appreciator
absolutly insane that this video is three years old and we're yet to have another Splinter Cell
criminaly underappreciated is right
