STANLEY KUBRICK: The REBEL who Changed Movies Forever

- Stanley Kubrick is known for many things - tons of retakes, controversial movies, and being a visionary. But if there’s one word people always use to describe him, it’s 'perfectionist'.
Born in 1928, Kubrick ditched Hollywood and moved to England to live away from the drama. He wanted to do things his way and didn't take no as an answer. His films tackled deep themes like rebellion, free will, and the darker sides of humanity.
Buuuut his graphic delivery left most people thinking his work was...kinda insane.
Regardless of the drama and controversies, I think Kubrick was one of the most influential filmmakers of all time, because of his innovative techniques, persistence, creativity and most importantly his authenticity.
What do you think about Stanley Kubrick? let me know in the comments :)

Happy to view a Kubrickian. The video was well informative and I'm sure many cinema lovers will know him after this video even more. Btw I have a small recc for you, Would you please discover the films of Wim Wenders.
thank you! ☺️ i dont know much about wenders so i should research his work more but i recently watched perfect days and really enjoyed it. thanks for the suggestion!
@@simplyfarina Huge W for the Perfect Days sneak in. It's one of my all time favorite films of all time you should def check out Paris, Texas. It's considered by many his magnum opus which I can agree since it's in my top 5.
Gods, his retakes sounded insane. I heard Duval pretty much desiccated herself doing teary eyed takes as nauseam (as well as going slightly 'round the bend). In answer to your question posed I think Kubrick's approach (and Cimino etc) is an OCD thing - the sort of incapacitating OCD where someone doesn't leave a room for half an hour just switching a switch on and off. Certainly as an arty person, I've worked on stuff that I had to actually bin because I wouldn't stop trying to 'get it right' and I'm a dullard - take the fearsome intellect of Kubrick and add great dollops of creativity and OCD = bingo-win bonkers! Like you say though, I didn't know the guy, so just a distance appraisal.
Cool vid, enjoyed.
thank you for watching! ☺️ and yess i agree. i can see how someone like him could get fixated on small things but lets just say i wouldnt wanna be the one doing all those retakes! lol
I start foaming of the mouth when I hear someone mention his films 😭🙏
hahah is that a good or bad thing 😭
Just discovered your channel, baffling how you don't have a mil subs.. Great Video, Keep up the good work!👏🏻
thank you so much! that means a lot to me 🫶🏻
Great Video! I also think Kubrick is a master filmmaker from a technical level, but his films very rarely carry an emotional depth, they feel alien at times
thanks!! i think bc of how unique his style was, he could get away with less emotional depth.
People still watch and study and talk about Stanley Kubrick films.
I think he used the technology of filmmaking to try and hypnotize an audience with technique (particularly in The Shining) to tell his stories and also choosing a story that deeply says something to an audience.
I have no idea how he was able to anticipate the Epstein Island and Diddy Parties with Eyes Wide Shut, but he certainly had a knack for touching on things that reverberated far past the films' initial release dates!
He is a storytelling master. He clearly has a dim and cynical view of in any kind of authority. And I fully endorse his films for showing that.
The preposterous idea of interstellar space travel, the brainwashing of governments on its citizens … his films get way more interested older I get.
Hopefully your channel last for years and years. If so. This won’t be your Kubrick video. Guaranteed 👍
I've never enjoyed one moment of Kubrick's films. His films are always devoid of an engaging story (not unlike David Lynch), and rely heavily on the modernist techniques of mystification and outrage. I would venture to say that an episode of the Famous Five (late 1970s) is infinitely more engaging than all of Kubrick's films put together. Technique is only so good as the tale its supporting...but if your story has no rationale...you are going to spend your career polishing turds, and in Kubrick's case, torturing actors. People talk about the lighting and cinematography of 'Eyes Wide Shut' or the dance scene in 'Pulp Fiction'. So what? Is that what you've come to watch? Some pretty Christmas lights and goofy dancing? You can do that at home, boys and girls!
