- After the controversial 991.1, Porsche knocked it out of the park with the 991.2. How does it stack up in 2024 after the launch of the 992 GT3?
Massive thank you to the seller of this 911 GT3 for allowing us to film their car.

Hi all, the auction for this GT3 is now live! www.pistonheads.com/buy/auction/16573910
991.2 GT3 with manual box. A sure fire classic.
GT3 pdk? 😢
I already own one
Agree !!!
The 991.2 GT3 is by far my favorite looks out of all the other generations, especially in a wingless config. It's just missing the lightbar.
No chinese lightbar, thanks :D
What are 991.2 gt3 tourings going for these days?
@@oliverradcliffe7974 in the US, 220k and up depending on the color/spec, a special PTS color could go for $260k+. A non-touring can be found for $180k-200k. I have a 991.2 Carrera T with LWBS, and I picked it up around $100k. I think the Carrera T has a certain value to it, especially when compared to the cost of a GT3. When looking at cars around $250k, there is a lot of competition to consider imho. I can’t say that I would consider upgrading to a GT3, there is definitely a point of diminishing returns.
Lightbar?
All GT3 generations have had their unique characteristics and traits, which I find so fascinating about the Porsche brand how they figure out ways to make improvements….. which inevitably will be seen as criticisms of the previous generation fans. Having owned a 997.2/991.1/991.2/992 generation GT3’s I’ve witnessed the evolution and they truly do get better and better with each generation, even if by pushing the boundaries and advancing the performance of the car sometimes results in what may be seen as a step back in other areas
Absolutely fascinating ! If having sort of ..budget restrictions would 991.2 be a great choice , and if so how about manual vs pdk ? Thanks !
What’s your favorite?
Having owned a lot more, the 992 GT3 is disappointing, overly fast rack and overly harsh spring rates plus too much factory camber coupled with large sections make it a hot twitchy mess on a lot of roads.
@@VK6AB-Wow ! That's good to know ! Would you find the 718 4.0 Gts a balanced "compromise" as a mixed daily/fun car ? ..not tracking it.
@@georgepotcovaru2595 4.0 GTS is an outstanding car as is the 991.2 GT3 touring. I would take either of these before a 992 GT3 for real world living and driving.
Lucky to have the Touring same spec, absolute pinnacle of 911 GT cars in my opinion.
What else there is to say? A blend of clean svelte lines with aggressive details, one of the most well-balanced 911 design over the years (even compared with air-cooled cars), options of excellent PDK or sublime manual, 4-litre race-derived flat-six going to 9000rpm, interior that balances modern technologies with normal layouts (BUTTONS!), and chassis from God. I always said 991.2 GT3 (touring or not touring) was the perfect 911. The peak 911. No other 911s come close before it, and none ever since. Only 991.1R and 991.2 Speedster came close in my book. One of only a handful of cars that rightly deserves a 10/10.
This statement will upset a lot of purists and hard-line air-cooled 911 enthusiasts.
Great point ? Have you driven/owned any ? 😃
The 991.2 GT3 touring is perfection, compliant and sublime. Real world.
I'm maybe a lil bit biased here, but only if someone thinks this car and in this spec especially doesn't look like one of the most beautiful cars ever made, BUT this is the best car review, camera movement shot selection ever. WOW.
The two first shots especially at 2:24 and all the b-roll during the guy talking. Man I just felt happy.
Thank you!
Best wishes grom Germany
My 991.2 GT3 Manual is pure perfection ❤️
A wonderful car! We've had the pleasure of optimizing many of them over the years and are always delighted when we have a GT3 RS to visit.
I think all of 991.2 is perfect
0:45 - OMG! Look at that shape! I'm sold on silver with matching wheels!
I enjoyed the review, you're obviously engaged as a fan.
@4:07 A missed opportunity: "Making a brilliant car even brillianter" - not good English, but fun x
991.2 Gt3 touring is the perfect car
Yes, deleting the wing and adding a touring badge completely transforms the car.
@@user-qn6yt3zx3w My opinion…
Wow! That GT3 is my dream car and it's in the same spec as my own 911 996. Never thought i would love Artic Silver with silver wheels and yellow brakes so much. People these days think you should always go for some fancy expensive colour, but less is really more. Love mine and find it so cool to see this GT3 in the sort of same spec!
That Sound.
Did the front number plate fly off at some point during filming?
996 and 997 GT3 do have a more pure, more analogue feel.
A manual GT3 is a fantastic car, but a PDK with a high Revving engine is quite the experience. You cant really go wrong with either.
To me, owning a 911 GT3 would be a privilege and honour. It’s the Porsche that defines generations for over 75 years of perfection.
The good thing is now the 911 base can get the same steering as the GT3 with calibration using PIWIS.
JCR really wakes up Porsche GT cars
wow new GT
I had a 991.1 GT3 for 5 years and I absolutely LOVED IT. As the K's (mileage) stared to go up I decided to sell it and by a GT4RS. Well here I am 7 months later and I have swapped the GT4RS for a 991.1 GT3RS. What can I say? I am 911 guy and the new GT3RS in Lava Orange (I call her the FIRE STORM) is ridiculous! I am now a very happy camper! See my channel for heaps of video's featuring my white 991.1 GT3 and briefly the GT4RS (in 7 months I never felt the urge to do a proper video of the 4RS) Here is my very quick comparison video on my first proper drive in the 3RS over the 4RS ua-cam.com/video/NATzgfzkRr8/v-deo.html
How would you compare the gt3 to the 3rs? Is the difference in feel that palpable?
@coversinc.2207 very similar damping and road feel. I haven't punted the rs properly yet however. But the 4.0 sounds more throaty and definitely more low down torque
@@100percentporsche I guess it’s hard to really go wrong either way, thanks for that though and continue to enjoy your fine machines
As a fellow 991 GT3 owner, I’m surprised you didn’t go to the .2 model to get the better 4.0L engine and suspension.
@993mike The gen 2 is $100k more, and IMO gen 1 looks better. Similarly, with the 991.1 GT3 and 991.2 . Nothing wrong with the .1 engine especially as it has the Porsche assured warranty renewable till 2031
Love the front end on 991.2 more than the 992. Some corners would have been nice.
Glorious. I listen to that engine note and can’t help think that I’ll never be exited when everything this company produces will have the same generic Duracell power train as everything else.
that "GVE London" on the number plate will put people off... lovely car otherwise
That's when you know sports cars have already reached their pinnacle; when you have to go "digging in the crates" for modern classics like the Porsche 911 991.2 = pinnacle of sports cars for enthusiasts.
Imo of course!
the channel is still alive?
What i want is the 911 S/T
What i can afford is probably a 996 Carrera
What I can afford is probably a 96 Corolla
Meh styling, the wheel arches aren't flared enough, doesn't look mean and muscular. Front looks very blocky. But mechanically and dynamically, yeah! What a car!
So is being a salesman now a part of the CV for being a motoring journalist?
Would like to see it being driven on the B and back roads around my way (Kent) to see if its near perfection.
Confused? You will be!
The 992 GT3 I drove was awful on the road, tramline issue and to hard, I went back to 991.2 manual so much nicer to live with in the real world...
Sound better than Artura
And then came the GT4RS😊
See my comment!
The pdk is great but manual box is just chiefs kiss it suits the car better
Unless you actually want to use the car on the limit. Manual is more engaging, but honestly, it suits a more underpowered car better. First is 80kmh, second closer to 130.. how many times will you really shift in the canyons?
And one wrong shift at high rpm will get you overrevs and bye bye warranty. Bit of a nasty cloud to carry with you all the time...
Did a grandfather order these seats ?
They're better in that car than the buckets.
They're better in that car than the buckets.
the sports seats are surprisingly supportive and very comfortable in longer drives. And they can be adjusted really low while the buckets cannot.
Better seats to get. Why go so hard on the seat if someone want to not track it that often. Even with the Sport seats the ride is hard..
Try doing 3h on carbon buckets... This is the only option for people who plan on using the car for long drives. Buckets is for track only or losers/flippers
5:20 take that tesla
The engine at the rear means it's no where near perfection.
The competitors still can’t compete with the GT3 handling and they are mid engine so it’s a bit more complex than just « rear engine is shit for dynamics, mid engine is better because more balanced »
It's pretty much mid engined nowadays.
@@R03333 Not really. Yes modern 911’s are not like the older generations but look under a 992 or 991 plateform if you have the occasion and you will see the engine is still pretty far behind
Porsche GT prices are on the fall so I don't see it getting the/your estimated 117k! 160k will get you a 992 GT3 with 1/3 of the miles on it and there's no shortage of them.
Not as compliant as 991.2 on the road, so no thanks 992
@@alanwayte432 right...
The cheapest 991.2 with similar miles on cargurus in the US is $170k. $235k for 992. UK must be better for prices
991.2 is the sweet spot of GT3s. What a great car to both drive and look at.
Good car. Way overpriced for a car. I would just modify my gti lol😂
PDK 😢
Bread and circuses.
991.1 revved to 9.5k... so, better!
8500rpm
Yea then blew up. 4.0 all the way.
No, it didn't lol
Great car but am I the only one getting tired of these sales videos? C. Harris ruined his journalist edge quickly with the collecting cars “test drives” and now PH too.
Actual journalism is dying fast
Can you elaborate ?
It just feels that a video takes a very different tone if the presenter is advertising a car for sale rather than testing it for other purposes. That’s all. As comparison, check out old C. Harris on cars comparison videos. They are the best car videos on youtube
Didn't these engines go boom?
Not the .2 version it’s a complete different engine from the 991.1
No. Only the 991.1 cars had that issue. The 991.2 is bomb proof as basically the Cup car engine.
They need to have real Englishman presenters not disrespectful foreigners .
