    Alex, Thanks for the great video. What you described is exactly what was wrong with mine. The ball valve was stuck and your video showed clearly how to handle that!

    Great video!! Thank you. My shut off valve will sometimes not open and I have to manually open it. It will randomly get stuck on close once or twice a week. What I do is manually open it and then it works again for a few days. I’ve been thinking or replacing the valve but not sure if that’s the real issue.

    Hello Alex. first off I just wanted to say thank you for making these very informative videos. I have a question I was hoping you might be able to answer. I currently just had two zone valves that were not working. I noticed this due to the red lights not coming on on the TACO box. I replaced them and when I turned the power on, all three zones lit up red on the TACO box. So it was indicating all 3 zone valves were open. However one of the brand new Honeywell zone valves is not engaging the end switch but the TACO box is still showing the red light. How is this possible?

    Thanks for this video. I can open mine manually, and I am hoping that means that it's just a bad motor. The motor is really warm compared to the other zone that is working. Feel free to let me know your thoughts.

      if you have 24 volts to the valve and if you force it open water runs through it. Then is very likely it is just the motor . Good luck. . let me know how it goes.

    Great video, very helpful info. My situation is a little bit different. As soon as I turn on the heat in my thermostat, I can hear the valve gear turning and then some water(cold at this point) would flow through and I also heard water flow sound for a few seconds at the baseboard. Then furnace would start(then stop when it reaches 180f), but the hotwater is not reaching the baseboards, and when I touch the pipes around the zone valve , it is lukewarm. It feels as if the value opened then closed? Is that even possible. I have 4 zones, 3 are working without any issues. Any suggestions? TIA

      Hello Charles.
      1. Make sure all the wiring follow the same pattern ss the other 3 that work.
      2. Make sure all the connections are tight.
      3. Swap a good thermostat on the one that doesn't work right.(to rule out the thermostat)
      4 Make sure that that zone is not air bounded. Bleed it if necessary .
      5. It might be time to change the power head. Some times the dial thing spins but the gates failed in the closed position. the motor gear turns but not the actual valve gate.

    Thank kindly Alex for the HELPFUL video. Is the power switch from the boiler different from the power switch from the Electricity? Thank you.

      Hello Christian,
      Most boilers should have 2 switches:
      1 the boiler switch by the boiler.
      2 the emergency red box switch.
      A lot of them only have 1 by the boiler.
      It is code now to have an emergency switch outside the boiler room.
      It should be on its own breaker .
      Although I have seen them on the same lighting breaker for the boiler room.

    Thank you Alex, very well put together video. May I ask your opinion on this: I have a boiler heating system with 3 zones, my radiators in zone 2 stay hot no matter even if thermostat is shut off. My best guess is the ball valve is stuck in the open position, so the hot water consistently flows thru the radiators. Any other thoughts?

      Hello it could that the motor failed in the on position and the end switch is pressed continuously . See my latest video tonight or tomorrow. Or it could be the ball valve as well.
      Good luck. let me know what fixes it. Greetings!!!!

      @@alexthehandyman3494im in an apartment building fixing a specific units heat, constant heat coming in, the ball valve is the only thing that makes sense but I dont have the motor with an end switch, just a 2 wire(orange and yellow) already replaced the motor and unplugged thermostat, turned water back on and it flowed right through still. Lol

    Hi Alex, do you have to bleed the lines after this? If so, whats best way? Thx

    • @alexthehandyman3494
      @alexthehandyman3494  5 місяців тому

      it depends on your system . If you had isolation valves. then ho\you don't have to do anything. Very little water lost and very little air went in. The air scoop will take care of that. IF you didn't have isolation valve and lost lots of water then. yes. Hopefully you isolate all the other valves and you just have to bleed the one you fix. Look at other videos on my channel about bleeding the line.

    hi is it ok to just stop using zone valves and manually open valve and leave open all the time so when other zones are called this open pne will always get hot water?

    • @alexthehandyman3494
      @alexthehandyman3494  5 місяців тому

      Hey Tom If you are ok with that. IM ok with that.
      Just know that since is manually open , it will never close and might get too hot in that zone.
      But to anwe3r your question: Yes.
      Make sure you properly open it. Don't forget to hook it> And leave at hook for to seconds so it stays. Good luck!!
