I was going to move to Gelato but decided to got back to Printify. I ordered from Gelato and the delivery time was too long. I am in Michigan but across the water from Canada and my products were shipped from Canada (I assume based on on physical miles) a mug took 3 weeks and I was not able to contact anyone, chat kept giving me scripted answers, super frustrating. And I didn’t get my 50% discount on my samples and also could not talk to customer service to assist so I paid full price.
Ugh. Sorry you went through that but I appreciate the inside scoop. If I can't receive good (or better) customer service, then that POD is a 'never use' for me. If they can't even get customer service right, I don't want to experience their product quality control.

I started listing with gelato, since the “multiple printing places local to your customer” sounded pretty great, but it’s a total headache with what’s available in which countries. Trying to order, FOR MYSELF, it won’t let me order more than one shirt. Turns out one of the colours isn’t in stock in Aus, despite their product availability saying it is, and it just gave me a generic error message, so I missed out on the 50% sample of up to $100, and there’s no easy way for me to check what the issue is when placing an order! Looking at how on Earth to shift my existing listings to Printify.
I can't recommend gelato at all! So far I've only had bad experiences with the customer service, which doesn't deserve the name. In addition, again and again problems, starting with the editor, the mockups, the integration and the availability of products, up to product quality, bad prints and very long delivery times. Especially before the holidays - and here it should be said that the deadlines stated by Gelato itself were not met, but they advertised them in a big way. Apart from that, small product portfolio that they hardly developed further. So never again Gelato!
I think Printful does their own in-house work, so the consistency of the product would be better as opposed to a company that outsources to multiple suppliers.
Ive been looking into trying Printful for specific items with my own designs. But Inside Printfuls terms and conditions contains a section under "Rights You Grant Printful." which seems to describe a "Gotcha" term where anything you made that you give to them to print or make is now in theory entirely theirs to do whatever they like with and not give you anything in return. If im wrong please correct me. It seems insanely predatory for them to put this in their terms and conditions.

My eyes choose the Gelato print :) but maybe the print more close to your file is Printify ... the embroidery, I personally think it could be improved in all three, Gelato circle is better though, the Printful circle like you said doesn't look correct, at least to my eye.

One company submitted an order for several different products which of course had to be farmed out to several different manufacturers. The shipping charges bottlenecked and Printify could NOT make it work. I lost a $450.00 order (my first) and way too many hours trying to fix the problem myself to no avail. Did not want to go through that again. So checking out Printful and Gelato.
Ive noticed that when ive made sample orders for some of the bags and wallart to see the products, they seem to go out of stock shortly after. it's annoying putting things on my website that the providers can't keep in stock
Thanks for this. That hat looks rough though. I mean, you were right NOT a circle. Also, I wish someone would talk about shipping costs if you're selling in more than one country and trying to insure fulfilment comes from the country you're shipping to. Printful does not guarantee that so you could end up having a customs charge added after sale that would make the product way too expensive and wasn't added at the time of sale (due to the fact that no one knew if the item was in the fulfilment centre at the time of sale.) I have heard some negative reviews from famous people who are in the POD business for quite a while. They say their fabric isn't that good, their DTG printing ain't good, they take like 21 days to ship the products as a result the customers always mail him and leave negative reviews!

I don't agree with printful being the best for the hat. I think the fact that it's not a true round circle was a fail for The hat. Do you think they could make it a true circle? I mean, how do you rectify that? I also think the printify t-shirt looked better. Gelato says it will ship from whatever location is closest to you. From experience I believe once you place the order it’s out of their hands. I don’t think they own the actual shipping/printing facilities. That may be why you can’t reach them. they wouldn’t know where your order is so you’re getting these scripted answers via email. 12 days for one shirt to arrive from they said Ohio. I’m less than 500 miles from Ohio.
To create a custom printed item the company has to create the screens for the items, then print them, then package and ship. It can take 2 weeks to create a t-shirt or cup, then shipping on top. It's not already made like items you buy off web shops, they have to produce the item first, so 12 days is actually a great turn around time fyi.
@@Meskarune my thing is then say 12 days instead of giving the runaround or false times. Not to mention not being able to get hold of them. Looking at the tag they evidently didn’t mean to leave in my package the order didn’t even start being printed until I kept sending emails about where it was then they put a rush on it. The printing was also bad. If you took 12 days it should’ve been a lot better fyi. They use third party printers so they really have no control.
@@David-dy3bb Dude, it normally takes 2 weeks to make custom screen prints on a shirt. Why were you even emailing about this before 2 weeks? And yeah, if they rushed the print because you were impatient then I'd expect it to be bad. The products get made one by one custom. If you to buy something instantly you have to get ready made.
@@Meskarune I got an email with a shipping date and I thought this is right in line with what they said. the status didn’t change after almost a week so I inquired about it. Mind you THEY gave me that date. I kept getting automated responses with no human interaction which was frustrating. I even got one saying the delay was weather related. Coming from Ohio going to TN, in August. I’ve ordered samples from them before and had no issues, but this was not good. It showed they had no idea of what was going on or control over this third party printer. You keep saying 12 days is normal however I was not told 12 days, and was sent a shipping date with tracking number. I was also told that tracking numbers don’t mean anything and are not exact 🤦♂️. My point is I wouldn’t use them for apparel printing because they seem to have no control over the process in my opinion. The customer service was not good at all. The metal print I had ordered a sample for was good and I got it in less than 12 days 😂
Paused the video at 20:27 to see if ordering a similar hat from Printify was a possibility to see that it was. As a general question, why didn't you choose a similar style/quality hat to that on Gelato or Printful?
Not sure if this was asked…but for the trucker hats, do they allow for more colors together on the embroidery? You used a logo that was one solid color but will it allow for embroidery of multi-color images?
FYI I ordered a tote bag from Gelato with one of my paintings and was really disappointed in it. The colors are very dull and undefined. Everyone likes it, it gives it a rustic feel but it's not the vibrancy of my painting. I've ordered one from printify but haven't gotten it yet. I've also ordered a wall print of another painting for a sample as well as one from lumaprints so we'll see how these all turn out. Also, I'm going to have my daughter re-photo the paintings with her dslr hoping that will make a difference. I don't see how it really would but that's just an uninformed guess.

An important criterion for newbies is selling. I have heard elsewhere that Printify has a "pop up store" which means you don't have to link to other stores. Is this the case with Gelato and Printful too, or do you have to link your products to Shopify, Etsy, etc?
That Printful shirt seems to wash out a lot of the color detail, e.g. the glasses frames ended up being the same color as the giraffe's spots. Gelato color accuracy seems to be much more accurate.
Im currently using Printful and I absolutely HATE their design/mock up process. Very confusing and inconsistant end result when you add it to your store. I watched your video because Im seriously thinking about taking my entire store down out of frustration with Printful.

So can you link the Products that you make on gelato to any website. ? I don't have any of those other stores created like Shopify. Or etsy, but I do have a website that has a products section.Can I add it there? I'm new to print on demand. Thank you.
I think a solution would be having your own website and taking pictures from your Gelato items/products putting them on on your website. Thereafter, let your site redirect buyers to the selected item on Gelato. However, this solution might drive potential buyers away from you. I hope I make sense.
If a customer order a T-shirt from my Etsy store, for example, do I have to pay first to one of these companies before they print and ship the product to the customer?

If a design you’re using is not a high enough resolution and the dpi too low, you can do two things. 1) upscale the design. There are plenty of websites that offer upscaling as well as videos on here about it and 2) you can turn your design from a jpg or png to an svg. Once an svg you can export it in any size you want. Again there are videos on here about converting to svg.
Why does he say Gelato is free /forever, but when I registered Gelato has a free trial that does not last forever? Does anyone know how to get Gelato for free forever?
For example, I have a Shopify store with Printful connected, and a customer makes an order in my shop. In this case does Printful connect to me to discuss the details or to my customer?
If a customer places an order it'll go straight to Printful so you won't have to do anything. They'll make it and ship it to your customer and charge your credit card
This means you can have up to 5 different stores under one account. For example, you have a tee shirt only shop and you then you have a second shop for artwork prints like posters, greeting cards and wall tapestry.
Note: Printful is extra expensive if shipping to Canada due to how they ship. Customers will HAVE to pay duty/taxes upon delivery. I use about a dozen POD companies and they are the only one that does this. Simply awful. I’ve had to limit them to the US Market. Very disappointing. 😖😠
I think Gelato had the best hat. It doesn't matter that Printful had an outline, because the shape was wrong. It was supposed to be a circle, and it wasn't. As for the shirts, looking at the video side by side comparison, the colors were noticeably more vibrant with the Printify shirt, while Printful's colors were the dullest of the three.

It is absolutely incomprehensible to me how you can recommend this company. This morning, October 17, 2024, you have once again reached a new peak of impudence, incompetence and absolute intransparency. A whole series of mockups that are not particularly good or special, but which Gelato pays dearly for with PLUS or GOLD subscriptions, can no longer be used because the usage rights are supposedly expiring. That's quite a thing, but it gets even better - the mockups used and saved are to be removed by October 18, 2024 and replaced with new ones. So within just under 18 hours. We can only advise everyone not to use Gelato as a POD service provider under any circumstances!

I made custom 3 long shirts as samples from gelato from santrel video and I have not gotten a tracking or nothing. It’s been 12 days. Gelato is coming from NY and I’m in California.

I don't agree with printful being the best for the hat. I think the fact that it's not a true round circle was a fail for The hat. Do you think they could make it a true circle? I mean, how do you rectify that? I also think the printify t-shirt looked better. I don't know if it just had to do with the light in your studio and it seemed that the space was larger for the printed graphic on the printify t-shirt. Great tutorial, Great video. Thanks so much
I agree with you. The Printful hat not being a circle fails on a basic level, and the Printify shirt had significantly more vibrant colors.

Gelato says it will ship from whatever location is closest to you. From experience I believe once you place the order it’s out of their hands. I don’t think they own the actual shipping/printing facilities. That may be why you can’t reach them. they wouldn’t know where your order is so you’re getting these scripted answers via email. 12 days for one shirt to arrive from they said Ohio. I’m less than 500 miles from Ohio.
To create a custom printed item the company has to create the screens for the items, then print them, then package and ship. It can take 2 weeks to create a t-shirt or cup, then shipping on top. It's not already made like items you buy off web shops, they have to produce the item first, so 12 days is actually a great turn around time fyi.
@@Meskarune my thing is then say 12 days instead of giving the runaround or false times. Not to mention not being able to get hold of them. Looking at the tag they evidently didn’t mean to leave in my package the order didn’t even start being printed until I kept sending emails about where it was then they put a rush on it. The printing was also bad. If you took 12 days it should’ve been a lot better fyi. They use third party printers so they really have no control.
@@David-dy3bb Dude, it normally takes 2 weeks to make custom screen prints on a shirt. Why were you even emailing about this before 2 weeks? And yeah, if they rushed the print because you were impatient then I'd expect it to be bad. The products get made one by one custom. If you to buy something instantly you have to get ready made.
@@Meskarune I got an email with a shipping date and I thought this is right in line with what they said. the status didn’t change after almost a week so I inquired about it. Mind you THEY gave me that date. I kept getting automated responses with no human interaction which was frustrating. I even got one saying the delay was weather related. Coming from Ohio going to TN, in August.
I’ve ordered samples from them before and had no issues, but this was not good. It showed they had no idea of what was going on or control over this third party printer. You keep saying 12 days is normal however I was not told 12 days, and was sent a shipping date with tracking number. I was also told that tracking numbers don’t mean anything and are not exact 🤦♂️. My point is I wouldn’t use them for apparel printing because they seem to have no control over the process in my opinion. The customer service was not good at all. The metal print I had ordered a sample for was good and I got it in less than 12 days 😂

As a general question, why didn't you choose a similar style/quality hat to that on Gelato or Printful?
He seemed to lean toward Gelato because that affiliate probably pays more when someone signs up with them through him.
Not sure if this was asked…but for the trucker hats, do they allow for more colors together on the embroidery? You used a logo that was one solid color but will it allow for embroidery of multi-color images?
FYI I ordered a tote bag from Gelato with one of my paintings and was really disappointed in it. The colors are very dull and undefined. Everyone likes it, it gives it a rustic feel but it's not the vibrancy of my painting. I've ordered one from printify but haven't gotten it yet. I've also ordered a wall print of another painting for a sample as well as one from lumaprints so we'll see how these all turn out. Also, I'm going to have my daughter re-photo the paintings with her dslr hoping that will make a difference. I don't see how it really would but that's just an uninformed guess.

An important criterion for newbies is selling. I have heard elsewhere that Printify has a "pop up store" which means you don't have to link to other stores. Is this the case with Gelato and Printful too, or do you have to link your products to Shopify, Etsy, etc?
Printful has a "Quick Store" option. You can have multiple stores.

That Printful shirt seems to wash out a lot of the color detail, e.g. the glasses frames ended up being the same color as the giraffe's spots. Gelato color accuracy seems to be much more accurate.
agree, printful tshirt color not as good. But their embroidery is better with wider selection for hats
Im currently using Printful and I absolutely HATE their design/mock up process. Very confusing and inconsistant end result when you add it to your store. I watched your video because Im seriously thinking about taking my entire store down out of frustration with Printful.

In addition, again and again problems, starting with the editor, the mockups, the integration and the availability of products, up to product quality, bad prints and very long delivery times. Especially before the holidays - and here it should be said that the deadlines stated by Gelato itself were not met, but they advertised them in a big way. Apart from that, small product portfolio that they hardly developed further. So never again Gelato!

I think a solution would be having your own website and taking pictures from your Gelato items/products putting them on on your website. Thereafter, let your site redirect buyers to the selected item on Gelato. However, this solution might drive potential buyers away from you. I hope I make sense.

No they don't. They pay Etsy and Etsy pays the POD company and you, based on the cost structure.

If a design you’re using is not a high enough resolution and the dpi too low, you can do two things. 1) upscale the design. There are plenty of websites that offer upscaling as well as videos on here about it and 2) you can turn your design from a jpg or png to an svg. Once an svg you can export it in any size you want. Again there are videos on here about converting to svg.

For example, I have a Shopify store with Printful connected, and a customer makes an order in my shop. In this case does Printful connect to me to discuss the details or to my customer?

If a customer places an order it'll go straight to Printful so you won't have to do anything. They'll make it and ship it to your customer and charge your credit card
What is 5 store means???
This means you can have up to 5 different stores under one account. For example, you have a tee shirt only shop and you then you have a second shop for artwork prints like posters, greeting cards and wall tapestry.
Note: Printful is extra expensive if shipping to Canada due to how they ship. Customers will HAVE to pay duty/taxes upon delivery. I use about a dozen POD companies and they are the only one that does this. Simply awful. I’ve had to limit them to the US Market. Very disappointing. 😖😠

I think Gelato had the best hat. It doesn't matter that Printful had an outline, because the shape was wrong. It was supposed to be a circle, and it wasn't. As for the shirts, looking at the video side by side comparison, the colors were noticeably more vibrant with the Printify shirt, while Printful's colors were the dullest of the three.
Wrong! You say Printify does its own printing in-house - that is false! Printful does its own printing!

It is absolutely incomprehensible to me how you can recommend this company.
This morning, October 17, 2024, you have once again reached a new peak of impudence, incompetence and absolute intransparency. A whole series of mockups that are not particularly good or special, but which Gelato pays dearly for with PLUS or GOLD subscriptions, can no longer be used because the usage rights are supposedly expiring. That's quite a thing, but it gets even better - the mockups used and saved are to be removed by October 18, 2024 and replaced with new ones. So within just under 18 hours.
We can only advise everyone not to use Gelato as a POD service provider under any circumstances!

This is sponsored obviously. I hate gelato. I use PRINTIFY for some things, printed mint for candles, teelaunch for lawn signs and I do not sell apparel. All of the print providers use DTG and obviously do not clean and tune their printers. I sell high ticket items. All these videos are bs. Most don’t even sell.

I have the same question as the other person who posted before me. I think I have to agree with the cleaning of the printers because one of my designs came out weird in color and also the edges of my logo was not clean.
