I remember when I was accused of stolen valor when I was walking through a beach trailer park with camos and a light brown t shirt. I'm pretty sure that's not stolen valor but I guess they saw my shaved head and muscular build and thought I was a soldier from the base nearby. They pulled up to me and asked me all these unfamiliar questions. I was like dude I'm just staying at this campground past this park. He was like you can't wear those pants! I was like "the fuck I can't bitch, I got these from a surplus store. Now get the fuck out of my face!" And they peeled out. 😆 not cool with stolen valor but these guys just wanted to to start shit.

@@Randomyoutubecommenter no that is not what it is. It is 100% legal to impersonate a quote-unquote "legit Soldier". What is illegal, and is stolen valor, is to defraud somebody of tangible value while doing so. The defrauding is a requirement as well. #TheMoreYouKnow

Bruh I'm dying at the "colonel" that went to recruiting Station, legendary man. Guys and gals in that station and area will have stories for days. O6 with no money, looking for an AER loan, plane tickets and rank lol
When I was active duty in the Army (Infantry) we caught one of our brand new fresh out of basic privates posting pics of him wearing a Ranger Tab. He scored the highest on the next pt test we had 🤣
Is there a reason? Like was it worse in the 80s I’m only asking because this is the 3rd comment from people who severed in the 80s saying they would never wear anything type of uniform off base if they could help it. I didn’t know it was the time era or something.
@@MegaSharpshooter1234 it wasn’t just the 80s. Military members don’t like wearing their uniform off base because you’re held to a higher standard when in uniform. After wearing a uniform all day on base, the last thing you want to do is wear it off base and attract attention. Example: You’re off base in uniform and a friend wants to stop into a bar and have a drink. Ordinarily it wouldn’t be a big deal but while in uniform anything you do that reflects negatively towards the military can result in getting punished by your superiors. If ur in regular civilian clothing no one knows you’re in the military and even if they did you’re not held to the same standard. When in uniform we’re expected to always have our uniform in order. We’re always being looked at, even off base and frequently by other military members who are in civilian clothes who we may not recognize as being in the military. We just get tired of being looked at and having our every word/behavior judged so we take off the uniform as soon as we get home. Not to mention the uniform is not the most comfortable clothing to wear. Or, as the military likes or tell us: “When in uniform we are always on parade”
The correct answer, if anyone asks, if the reason you don't want to go out with someone is because they aren't good enough for you is to reply, " No, I'm not good enough for them."
Rob, bring back a military Monday and interview my dad. He’s coming up on 25 years in and was in 75th for around 19 years. Guaranteed to be a great video
Dressing up like an army or marine or naval personnel is not stolen valor.... It's amazing how many people from the army don't know what stolen valor actually is..... Dressing up in a military uniform is not stolen valor pretending to be in a the military is still not stolen valor..... Stolen valor is when you say you were in the military to get something from somebody else financially or physically .... If you're standing out in front of a store collecting money while saying you're in the army or Marines or navy that is stolen valor.... If you say you're in the army to try to collect benefits that is stolen valor... You saying or claiming you were in the military to try to sound cool is not stolen valor...
I grew up hearing all sorts of stories from my Dad about his time in Vietnam. How he served with the 5th Special Forces and did all this badass shit... Now that I take care of him and take him to all his VA appointments, I know that he was actually a radio repair technician and a clerk in the Airforce. So I guess he was just trying to seem more badass and impress me when I was little...
Hey man, I think I saw an army times article a few years ago that said the woman in the Army recruiting office actually WAS in the Army but she was medboarded after she had a severe head injury.
If anyone else is sending their book to be signed make sure when you bring it to the Post Office you use something called media mail. It is super cheap to mail books, tapes, DVD's, and CD's. You can also get a return media mail label. Most media mail packages take 2 to 5 days but I believe it says 1 to 9 days. You can literally mail a book for about 75 cents instead of $7-$10
I was recently exposed for stolen valour. It pains me to admit that I posed as a U.S postal service worker for years, it got to the point where I was walking around with a postal bag in full uniform until I was confronted by a real postman, he bombarded me with complex, insider questions like "how did you get the job?" and I crumbled under the pressure. I humbly and wholeheartedly apologise for that disgusting period in my life, I simply wanted the adoration and respect that's afforded to our postal workers.
It's folks like this that make me look good when I can honestly say I was a 21yo CPL holding an E-6 slot as a Supply Sergeant for a Svc Battery, Heavy FA Battalion. 155 SP. "Copperheads"
I’m a WM (discharged 20yrs ago), and I never think to ask for discounts or mention my service. I also don’t have any type of military ID, veterans ID, CAT card…zip. If u don’t use the VA, u don’t need VA ID. That broad in the recruiting office cracked me up. People that are willing to put that much work into finding out ways to con people out of money by saying they are a veteran could go really far in a career if they put half as much energy into working.
Ah, this stuff brings me back! I once got called out for wearing a fake uniform with a bull shit flag. He kept pestering me until I had enough and just showed him my military ID-card. Got a free coffee. =D
@White Rabbit It was funny in the end, at the beginning I wasn't sure what to do as I was worried I'd get mobbed or something haha. This wasn't in the city of Tuscon but at a coffee place kind of in "hick country" (no offense). At least now those people who were present know where the Netherlands is and that they have military personnel training in America.
"Typical Americans", "hicks"...good thing the people you are mocking were and are generous enough to share their training and hospitality with you. I hope that free coffee was tasty.
@@CeeCeeB. Well, it wasn't those back country hicks that shared their training, it was the American Army. I used the term "hick" for these people as they had no clue there were countries outside of America, they thought America was the entire world. I told him the drop it, he wouldn't, it started to escalate so I decided to show him my military ID-card. We had a laugh about it, and he paid for my coffee. I called him a "hick" for being so uneducated on anything outside of America, he laughed. I like America, my girlfriend is form America, I used to live there as a child. I did 6 years in the Marine Corps (Artillery) had a four year break in service and then did 14 years in the Army (Cavalry Scout). I was in Desert Storm and OIF1. I retired several years ago with 20 years of active service. No medals for valor (my highest award was an Army Commendation Medal lol), no special schools or units. No spec ops, no airborne ranger, no scout sniper, none of that. I rarely tell people that I served, other than wearing the occasional moto-shirt or hat...and most of those are slightly cryptic like a "Parris Island Alumni" Tshirt or a ball cap with crossed sabers on it. I feel cheesy about asking for discounts but I've done it a few times and HATE when asked to stand at a gathering. I didn't do anything more than millions of other Americans. I cannot fathom how these people can think that they can pose as veterans, in a society filled with veterans...all of whom can tell if you are the real deal in a matter of seconds with just a few observations and questions. There are 2 types of soldiers. Smart soldiers, and strong soldiers.
I know when I served in the 80's I avoided being in uniform off base as much as possible.
Damn right, still the same today for those of us who serve. It’s only the fakes who love wearing kit to the shopping Center 😂
Is there a reason? Like was it worse in the 80s I’m only asking because this is the 3rd comment from people who severed in the 80s saying they would never wear anything type of uniform off base if they could help it. I didn’t know it was the time era or something.
@@MegaSharpshooter1234 some places the locals didn't think to highly of the military
@@gulfwarveteran3832 gotcha
Anytime someone thanks me for my service I’m about as awkward as some of these people.
The correct answer, if anyone asks, if the reason you don't want to go out with someone is because they aren't good enough for you is to reply, " No, I'm not good enough for them."

Ah, this stuff brings me back! I once got called out for wearing a fake uniform with a bull shit flag. Long story short, typical American who thinks America is the entire world and didn't realize other countries have military personnel that come to train in the US (Tuscon, Arizona in this case). I called him a "hick" for being so uneducated on anything outside of America, he laughed.
