If your looking for like classic 70s *BAND-MAID* I would say *Manners (Official Music Video)* might fit the bill or their very first video *Thrill* might do *The Dragon Cries (Official Music Video)* that was produced with Tony Visconti, who has worked with the likes of David Bowie, T Rex and Thin Lizzy.
This is actually from the final concert of their 202310th Anniversary tour, in Yokohama. And thanks for giving Akane props for her drumming. Kanami and MISA couldn't do what they do without her. You want something melodic? Try "Daydreaming".
Saw Mr. Big open for Rush, and Paul Gilbert and Billy Sheehan did a guitar/bass duel... we're talking two heavy-hitters here, and few bands have attempted this sort of thing since them. I find myself mentioning Band-Maid in the same sentences as other great bands, and it's absolutely merited. Here we have reactors mentioning Akane in the same sentence as Neil Peart and Keith Moon... amen.
Great reaction. Maybe 'Manners' or 'Turn Me On' or 'Take Me Higher'...all live will be close to Dr. Rock 'feels'. All smelling Guns 'n' Roses or 'Daydreaming' smelling U2. In my opinion, 'Turn Me On' and 'Take Me Higher' are less technical than most of BAND MAID songs but the execution the girls do live is unforgettable. And 'we' can be talking about other songs from them during hours. Maybe 'Real Existence' live is an amazing song, I would say 'brutal' in terms of execution and impact to the crowd but, maybe, too devastating performance when you are starting diving in the BAND MAID world... 'Rinne' live is in the same league too. Also 'Play' live and 'Dice' live are like athems and both are songs where you can feel Misa ( bass ) and Akane ( drums ) 'marking' their presence, like saying you want bass and drums?, ok run, we are here !. Thanks
BAND-MAID wrote ENDLESS STORY to be a sing-along anthem for their concerts, as they dreamed of someday filling arenas. Do a back-to-back comparo of first, the beautiful OMV, and then the live performance at this same YOKOHAMA ARENA concert, which was the last song of their tenth anniversary tour. Also, DOMINATION, live in 2020, fits the anthemic bill.
Manners! The band considers it their core sound. In a similar vein, Take Me Higher, Turn Me On, Chemical Reaction. For a slightly faster tempo, Dice, or Bubble.
Band-Maids first video "Thrill" MV is about as old school as it gets ! It's mostly a hard rock song that went viral with millions of views. I'm pretty sure y'all will love it ! Thanks Guys Great Reaction =)✌🤘
I got a song for you from Band-Maid. You can pull it up on the internet. It's "Take Me Higher", the official live music video from the Tokyo Zepp Theatre. It's definitely a throwback R&R song.
The Band-Maid recipe is take two pop singers whose vibes overlap, combine with a bassist and drummer who aspire to Geddy Lee/Neal Peart virtuosity, then add a driven, classically trained pianist who taught herself guitar by listening to Larry Carlton and Carlos Santana records, mix gently with the Japanese industrial work ethic and a "Failure isn't in our vocabulary" attitude. I've not experience another band that puts this much of themselves into their music. The genre is Pop-Punk-Prog-Rock and it reflects the spectrum of tastes of each band member.
For a deeper cut that might be up Dr. Rock’s alley, try Fate off their World Domination album. No video though, so you’ll have to use the studio track. Sone other good suggestions in these comments too (Manners, Freedom).
Some of their more melodic ballad type songs are Daydreaming, About Us, and Endless Story. There is a great live video of Endless Story which was the final song of the same 3.5 hour Yokohama Arena okyuji (serving / concert) that this live video of Hate is from. The lead singer and the drummer get a bit misty eyed at the end of it considering it was the last song of their 2023 10th Anniversary Tour and was at the biggest arena they have ever played in.
The band has a quite of few classic rock type songs including a few anthem style tracks. My favorite anthem-like track is FATE (The live version of course). I also feel the track PLAY (Live) could fit in that category. As for other tracks in a Hard Rock category would be THRILL (MV), THE DRAGON CRIES (MV), GLORY (MV), and some other tracks that are my favorites which you might dig is PUZZLE (Live), BLOOMING (MV), MORITORIUM (Live), BUBBLE (MV), REAL EXISTENCE (Live), and the NON FICTION DAYS (MV).
Bandmaid and the Warning are without a doubt the Queens of Rock... but the Goddesses of Metal is undoubtedly LoveBites another all female Japanese Band that are phenomenal musicians who blend aspects of all the great 80's and 90's bands into their own sound... Definitely worth checking out if you haven't already.
Why aren't Band-Maid bigger? Unfortunately many of us feel it is because of what makes them special as well. The idea of Band-Maid, is what you see, 5 demure young Maids, is not what you hear. Unfortunately, too many just look at the Maid outfits/uniforms and discount them as being a manufactured or gimmick band. And while yes the uniforms are a "Gimmick", the gimmick is suspend your disbelief almost like a movie. What you think you are going to hear is syrupy sweet cutesy music. What you get is HARD, IN YOUR FACE, ROCK. Mixed with Jazz, R&B, Pop, Punk, Southern Rock, Classic Rock, Classical Music, and many other genres. And it ALL fits. There is no disjointedness in their music. It works. It sounds good. It makes you want to raise your hands and pump your fist in time to the music. It makes you want to sing along at the top of your lungs, tearing out your own vocal cords to be heard by everyone around you. And most everyone around you at a Band-Maid concert will be doing the EXACT same thing. These Ladies are NOT a manufactured band. It started with Miku Kobato the rhythm guitarist/second lead vocalist. She had a dream of setting everyone on their ears. A band of cute girls playing hard rockin music to subvert everyone's expectations. She had been in a "Cutesy" group, the Underground Idol group "Lil Cumin" and it was NOT the kind of music she wanted to perform. I will add part of the info file I put together about the formation of Band-Maid so you can understand it a little better. Band Maid was started in 2013 by Miku Kobato. At the time she had just left the Idol Group, Lil Cumin and she didn't like the type of music she had been performing. She approached her management agency with the idea of making an actual band playing rock music but dressed as maids. She had worked in a Maid Cafe and thought the image of maids playing rockin music would create what she called "The Gap" between what you see and what you hear. The Management company was like Ok, go ahead. Miku then looked around and found Kanami a singer/songwriter who was posting her own videos on the internet. Miku had her agency contact her and Kanami thought the idea was cool and agreed to join. Miku then asked if Kanami knew a drummer who might be interested. Kanami had worked with Akane in the past and there is 2 versions of this, the first is, Kanami literally walked over to Akane's apartment and asked her, the second is Kanami called Akane and asked her. (Akane has said in 2 different interviews that 1: Kanami called her and asked if she could come over and 2: in a second interview Kanami just came over) Akane was actually hesitant as she had worked in an "All Girl Group" before and didn't enjoy it as it wasn't the type of music she wanted to play. After hearing a Demo, Akane was like ok, but was still slightly hesitant because of the "Maid Outfits", but she agreed to give it a try. Akane was asked if she knew a bass player and she had gone to Tokyo School of Music with MISA and had worked a couple of jobs with her. So Misa was contacted and after she heard a demo she was like I like the music, but she also was hesitant about the "Maid Outfits", but she relented and joined in as she really wanted to play the kind of music she heard in the demo. The 3 of them then "Auditioned" for the record company and passed the audition. Now we have the "Core" members. The 4 members worked out some songs provided for them by the record company, and a setlist and they had performed 3 times with just Miku on main vocals. Miku after those performances felt that her voice wasn't powerful enough to really perform the songs she wanted. So she approached her management company again and asked if they had any singers who weren't in other projects. They then auditioned several singers. Miku heard Saiki rehearsing in a room across the hall and asked if she could be auditioned, the record company then had Saiki audition. Saiki was signed to the same management company and had done some work as a backup singer and dancer and was asked if she would be interested in auditioning for this new group which currently had 4 members and she would be the fifth. She had been a member of a group with 8 other people as a backup singer and dancer, and HATED it. So she listened to the demo and thought "Cool" because she liked the music. Now we come to the tricky part. Miku KNEW that if Saiki was told about the "Maid Outfits" she would say NO WAY!, so they didn't tell her. They told her they would have "Cool/cute Clothes"(I've read it translated either way), and she never met Miku until a few days before they had a contracted performance. She wasn't told about the "Maid Outfits" until the day before the performance, and she had considered backing out, but she had signed the contract. (Saiki also had NEVER met Miku until then as well) So the Ladies, went and did the performance and Saiki really, REALLY liked the crowds reaction and the music they were performing. She DIDN'T like the apron she wore so it got ditched after the first performance. And you now have the beginnings of the BEST LIVE HARD ROCK BAND in the WORLD! ALL HAIL BAND MAID!!!!! Now that we have the Full band, it was felt that there needed to be a second guitar. Saiki was like, "Not Me, No Way." So Miku said, "I'll do it.", at first that was literally all she did, was hold the guitar and mime playing it, until Akane said, if you are going to hold it, you NEED to learn to play it. And Miku said, "Ok.", and Kanami started to teach Miku how to play. The Ladies released their first album in 2014 "Maid in Japan" which failed to chart, but later after "Thrill" it was reissued and charted to #26 in Japan.
Then in 2015 they released "New Beginning" On New Beginning was the song that changed Band Maid's entire existence. "Thrill"... The band was getting ready to release their first music video and the choice was between "Love, Passion, Matador" and "Thrill" and the ladies chose Thrill. (Little known fact, Miku helped with the lyrics on Thrill but did not get credited) This became the seminal moment of Band Maid. Because their second album charted at #64, the record company was seriously considering disbanding the Ladies and switching them to other projects. (In fact they had Kanami and Akane work with Mochi to Cheese thinking that when Band Maid cratered they could use them in another band. MISA had also just started working with Mochi to Cheese as well). However about 6 months after the video's release, a Facebook page "JRock Radio" posted the video to their timeline. And the video went viral. Having over a million views in just a few short weeks. The Ladies Twitter page got so many hits they thought their page had been hacked. Their UA-cam channel also started getting more and more subscribers and views to Thrill. Now the ladies knew where their fans wanted them to go. Harder Rock, less pop. And history was Maid. That is part of the file I post for new reactors to Band-Maid, if the reactor asks me to. Most of the time, I"ll post the first section and they don't ask for the rest of the file. Since I don't want to take over their comment section, I only post it if asked or if it is necessary for proper context.
Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin saw a concert and insisted on meeting Akane the drummer after the show. He stated she was the re- incarnation of John Bonham. Great praise I would say.
I hope you had the lyrics on. They're funny! Some have called the Call & Response "Battle" between the Guitar and the Bass the argument before the breakup she wrote the song about.
11:25 - Thing is BAND-MAID doesn't really do a specific genre of rock....they ARE a genre of rock. Meaning they dabble in a little bit of everything so there is something for everyone. Here ya' go, welcome to the pigeon hole (err rabbit hole): Freedom (2020 live) Domination (2020 live) Warning! (MV) Shambles (MV) Don't You Tell Me (Official live) DICE (MV) Rinne (2020 live) From Now On (MV)
Lets step back to some MVs to see were these ladies came from. Dice, Blooming, or Real Existence or for instrumentals try From Now On or Onset. Enjoy gentlemen.
Melodic. Gotcha. Best melodic Band Maid song, by a mile, that also still shows their musicianship would be DayDreaming. Two versions of that, in particular. Daydreaming is the only Band Maid song that stands up non-live to the live stuff, but they have a live version that is also great and shows a lot of twists on the song. I'll post both below. Also, Daydreaming has the best Kanami solo in it of all their songs because it's short, very sweet and just note per note excellent, being absolutely perfect for that song. Kanami also has excellent voice choices throughout. Usually I'm a big bass and drum fan for this group, but Kanami is on the same level, and this is her best work. I believe she also did the recording of the piano solo for this, as well. I would say Endless Story, but the song has much less musicianship in it, so you miss out on that component. Daydreaming live (suggested): ua-cam.com/video/g6S05uwq8-M/v-deo.html Daydreaming not live: ua-cam.com/video/RCaeUkrItyY/v-deo.html
If you want old school rock vibes, "Manners" is the song you want to react to. It's got that 70's riff with the bass and drums keeping that steady rhythm. It's a great tribute to thec70's.
Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 I witnessed this very performance at the huge venue, "Yokohama Arena", on Nov.26, last year. Very exciting 3-hour-40-minute-long show with 33-song setlist. (Happy fatigue thereafter 😄) Band-Maid is one of the best bands in our country, especially in live performance. We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.)
First, I'm glad you get it. When they started writing their own music, the mixing and matching of genres at will is what they do. The genre is Band-Maid. I would suggest "Manners" OMV if you're trying to get a feel for them with the 70's - 80's feel. PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘 Others to consider after "Manners": "Freedom" OLV would be another suggestion. Then to expand on their diversity, "Daydreaming" is an AMAZING rock ballad, and my favorite song...and Kanami's, lead guitar and genius composer, favorite song to play. Anthemic and also mid-tempo..."Endless Story" OLV from the same 10th Anniversary Tour Finale show "Hate?" OLV was shot from. "Hate?" was song 27 of 33 on a epic night of music and entertainment, which lasted 3hrs and 40mins. They ended with "Endless Story", make sure to have the CC on so you can see why we love the Maids, as you will see and hear, how much they love us, their Masters and Princesses (what they call the fans). Saiki's, lead singer, two thank you messages are heartwarming...and they even added an additional verse to for the fans to immortalize their thank you in their OLV video. It's the verse right after Saiki speaks and walks down the runway. Being an emotional ending to their 10 year anniversary tour, the ladies are rightfully emotional.
For fairly new melodic Japanese rock n roll, I’ve been grooving to a band called The Stereogang. Even if you don’t do a reaction to it, please give a listen to their song Bat Nightmare. They just came out with a new ep with a song Money that I like to.
🤘Love Band Maid!!!🤘One of their latest releases is a has bit of that throwback feel you should like alot Dr. Rock... checkout their song "Bestie" OMV... or if you're into that classic groove rock sound try their song "Manners" OMV.
It's amazing how Band-Maid has rewritten the laws of nature: Hate brings Love! 😖--->🎀--->😍 Some news... -- The Warning, a world-famous band from Mexico, and BAND-MAID recently completed their amazing 2-man, collab concert in Japan with the introduction of their new song, “Show Them.” -- BAND-MAID released a new song, "Bestie," co-written with Mike Einziger of INCUBUS! Sounds like you should check out Manners (MV), The Dragon Cries, Memorable, Freezer, About Us, Thrill (MV), Freedom (official live). These are all more classic, less complex songs….
Todd Bobby needs to check out the band The Warning. They are a band of three sisters from Monterey Mexico who are tearing it up right now. They just performed with Band Maid recently.
PUZZLE - It's a goddamn masterpiece. There's an official live video from the 2023 Tokyo Garden concert, but in my opinion, the video of the 2017 performance at Shinkiba Studio Coast is better and Kanami is higher up in the mix. Unfortunately, that video was taken down on UA-cam quite a while back, but you might find it on other platforms. There is also an acoustic version of the song with just Kanami and Saiki from the 2018 Tokyo Zepp concert.
Manners-Black Hole live for lod ua-cam.com/video/iaf94nNSRGE/v-deo.html over 7 minutes of mind melting contrasts in style and musical mastery by Bandmaid
There's something I really want you guys to hear. But it's not something to react to. When Band Maid plays a concert they have music playing while they take the stage. This music is actually them, and I don't know why they don't play like this on any of their songs, but I want you to hear what Kanami is capable of. When you hear it just let me know what you think. When I heard it I thought of you ua-cam.com/video/hMQDDSyilHI/v-deo.htmlsi=hA9YH8cjrMe6YG7L
Can't quite put my finger on that....but it almost has elements of Metallica crossed with Trans Siberian Orchestra....and one of the parts of the lead had a classic Joe Perry feel to it.
Old school? Anthemic? "Freedom" might be your Jam,.
I wish more people would react to, The Dragon Cries. I love that song, but then again, I love all Band Maid songs. (Except for one….lol)
Th3 Non fiction Days?

This is actually from the final concert of their 202310th Anniversary tour, in Yokohama. And thanks for giving Akane props for her drumming. Kanami and MISA couldn't do what they do without her. You want something melodic? Try "Daydreaming".
Welcome to *live Band Maid*
As far as anthemic/old school
*check out Freedom*

Has there ever been a guitar/bass conversation/duel that you recall during a live concert? Simply put, these women KICK ASS!!!!!!

This became the seminal moment of Band Maid.
And THAT is a lesson in Band-Maid! - Doc
Thanks so much for your sharing!
Thank you for checking us out!
Great reaction, boys!
11:25 - Thing is BAND-MAID doesn't really do a specific genre of rock....they ARE a genre of rock. Meaning they dabble in a little bit of everything so there is something for everyone. Here ya' go, welcome to the pigeon hole (err rabbit hole):
Freedom (2020 live)
Domination (2020 live)
Warning! (MV)
Shambles (MV)
Don't You Tell Me (Official live)
DICE (MV)
Rinne (2020 live)
From Now On (MV)
Lets step back to some MVs to see were these ladies came from. Dice, Blooming, or Real Existence or for instrumentals try From Now On or Onset. Enjoy gentlemen.
U guys definitely need to react to band maid freedom live there drummer has a solo you guys would love it ❤
Melodic.

LOL!!! You guys are a trip! No better Rock band out there right now than Band-Maid.....language be damned, these girls KILL IT all the time.
If you want old school rock vibes, "Manners" is the song you want to react to. It's got that 70's riff with the bass and drums keeping that steady rhythm. It's a great tribute to thec70's.
🕊️🎶🎶🎵🎵
Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 I witnessed this very performance at the huge venue, "Yokohama Arena", on Nov.26, last year. Very exciting 3-hour-40-minute-long show with 33-song setlist. (Happy fatigue thereafter 😄)
Band-Maid is one of the best bands in our country, especially in live performance.
PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘
Others to consider after "Manners":
"Freedom" OLV would be another suggestion.
They can be proggy but it never gets in the way of accessibility and catchiness.
🤘Love Band Maid!!!🤘One of their latest releases is a has bit of that throwback feel you should like alot Dr. Rock... checkout their song "Bestie" OMV... or if you're into that classic groove rock sound try their song "Manners" OMV.
I love this girls nice reaction greeting from germany
You might want to check out their song Wonderland. It's jazzy.
It's amazing how Band-Maid has rewritten the laws of nature: Hate brings Love! 😖--->🎀--->😍

Try "MANNERS" OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO 😊
😂 you said Pigeon-Holed, Po!
Domination live 2020. more solo mayhem and a big chorus for ya.
🤘
Dr. Rock …. Daydreaming
Has anyone else noticed the 5-string bass?
KISS shirt with Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer...
Another band you should check out is Nemophila and their song life or adabana
Manners-Black Hole live for lod ua-cam.com/video/iaf94nNSRGE/v-deo.html over 7 minutes of mind melting contrasts in style and musical mastery by Bandmaid
The Dragon Cries!
So I hope you guys are listening with your earbuds on mono
Of course! :)
Now you listened to Japans best female rock band try the best female metal band Lovebites 🤘
Play "Play" live. Melodic hard rock from BM. Btw most of their songs are more melodic than this but just as hard!
When I heard it I thought of you

Can't quite put my finger on that....but it almost has elements of Metallica crossed with Trans Siberian Orchestra....and one of the parts of the lead had a classic Joe Perry feel to it.
@@thedrrocktoddbobbyshow but did you like it
With out the Lyrics , you don`t get the full effect of the song .
Please don't use the 'M' word when speaking of the Maids...po!
