Why don’t you fence off a few acres around the homestead so Eclipse can run free and actually be a watch dog.
I think you need to let him run free it not fair that he gets caged all the time
I built my yard twice that size all by hand, shoveled, raked, fertilizer, raked, seeded, rolled, the only equipment was the dumpstruck that brought the dirt. I remember nights I was so sore I could barely move. People wonder why its my pride and joy 😊
You want to reduce the possibility of hail damage ? Build a pole barn to park your vehicles & equipment in. You've got most of the materials already on your property to accomplish this.

I chalk those mishaps up to Gods way of reminding us that we are not perfect and keeping us humble.
David suggestion get two decent pallets make a platform for full gas cans and one for empty gas cans. It will help with the organization and it would look good.

Greetings from Northeast Ohio. When we put our yard in 1978, we smoothed it out with a rough, smooth like you are doing. After that, though we raked it smooth as a babies butt with garden rakes turned upside down. Hours and hours. Planted grass seed and covered it with straw. 46 years later, our yard is still beautiful.

Sooner or later we all have those days so don’t beat yourself up. Hopefully a few parts fixes it. Most chainsaws are more resilient than you think. I had an old Homelite 350 that was my dads that washed out of my bottom barn in a 500 year flood. It washed a good thousand feet down the creek and believe it or not, a friend got it running for me! Good luck pard!

Sorry about your chainsaw. I know that just made you sick. I would call the company and see if they would refurbish it for you. Some companies will do that as a courtesy and customer relations. The place is looking amazing.❤❤❤

find you a set of box springs off a bed and drag it with your 4 wheeler. It will make a world of difference

You have gone from a wild unkempt site to a tiny house, working on the cabin guesthouse, a goat yard, a chicken yard, a rabbit hutch, a lumber yard, created a bone storage yard and the storage FACILITIES You have an outside grill area, running water, a septic system and a FLUSH TOILET. David you have beat the odds and have kept moving. You added to your land acreage. Helped the family when possible. Tossed in some Fired up Fridays. You are a machine.

If you want more weight on your box blade, get you one of them, blue drums, and fill it up with water or halfway full of water and strap it down
I can’t remember how many times my father ran over the tool box with the combine during harvest season trying to beat the rain It happens don’t beat yourself up too much.
If you some pallets you could build you a three sided wall to store your gas cans in .

Wow, David, your yard looks so nice now that you've turned the soil. I really like the rich color of ya'lls soil up there in Arkansas. Ours isn't as nice in Forney, Texas (22 miles east of Dallas. I sure am sorry about your chainsaw. I know if it's fixable, you'll get'er done. Glad to see you wearing your arm brace given all the work you do around your homestead. C’mon Dave, what a pain in the booyakka, not the kind of thing anyone wants but we sometimes all have FUBB moments like that. It’s easy to keep kicking yourself for such mistakes but that doesn’t fix things but just makes David a cranky man, but I get it as we are harder on ourselves when we do these things. Maybe you can find another saw for parts if your crank cases aren’t cracked. I like the yard work and how it’s turned out. Think of fire prevention too, you have a lot of pushed down saplings and wood around, make sure that they don’t become a hazard for your equipment and home. Take care, stay safe.
Oh dang that sucks, sorry about your saw. Don't feel bad I have ran over a couple myself. Rick tends to set them behind my vehicle. He has lost at least two due to placing them behind my SUV lol.

David, the box blade, did the job smoothing out the dirt. I hope you can get the grass seed down before the rains. I saw that there was bad weather out around your area on the radar. You were saying that y'alls insurance went up in Arkansas. Everything is going up here in Florida. Nothing is affordable. I've been in Florida over 40yrs and am ready to leave.

Bro, that’s sucks about the saw. Don’t feel too bad though, all it takes is for me to get in a hurry, and overlook putting something back where it belongs, and then I’m replacing it. We do what we can!

Looks like there is quite a bit of debris still to pick up, David, I know you don't need a football stadium turf finish, but you do want a nice lawn, so the more of that debris you can pick up and get rid of before you seed, the better the result will be, maybe Mike's kids might like to earn a bit more spending money and give you a hand picking up that debris and save your back a bit.
Yard is beginning to look really good. To bad you can't find a good used drag harrow somewhere for the right price.

Sure hope your chain saw is ok. On the bright side the yard looks great. Grass should sprout pretty fast if it isn’t washed away. I would seed until the rain stops just in case.
