- Priceless interview from 1983. This starts off with much more footage of Neil & his family at home, but I cut that out because I have it much clearer here • Neil & Yvonne Innes at... and cut out the songs for time since you can find all those on UA-cam anyway. I left in the end credits because someone who worked on it might see this and like to see their name!

RIP Neil. I got to meet him about 10 years ago at a Beatles convention. Incredible sense of humor. His autograph he gave me : “Sod off! Ron Nasty”.
Neil Innes is a genius, I´ve never listened anyone who was so near to the Beatles, his compositions for the Rutles were marvellous!!!
One of a kind, never to be forgotten. RIP.
I’m gutted 😔. Rest In Peace Neil.
I was listening recently to a Beatles podcast that Neil was a guest on . So I just found out that Neil died in 2019. He was 1 of my early Girl hood crushes. I recognized his talent, even as a kid , to stand there and sing you a perfect musical pastiche; melodic , with amazing thoughtful lyrics and sung wonderfully too.Just as he does in this clip I loved his smiling, caring eyes . He was never under appreciated it by me. rest in peace you wonderful genius man
A very British artist; RIP Neil - you enriched us all. Thank you.
What a sweet, talented man - a great loss.
R.I.P. Neil Innes. Regards to his family and friends.
Innes Book of Records - a neglected treasure. RIP
I really love Neil . I met him and told him I’ve watched you all my life , he said having you anything better to do! Then laughed winked and said thank you! I had a nice chat to him , he was amazing had so much time for people .
I’m just now learning more about Neil...shortly before he passed, I became Facebook friends with one of Neil’s old friends and collaborators from “The Rutles”. I didn’t even realize they were friends until after Neil passed, and his page was full of condolences on the loss of his friend. I’ll never get to meet him now, but I’m sure enjoying his great comic talent. RIP.
Sad and sudden loss. Great talent. RIP
He was a great talent. I keep coming back to his videos, wondering, how can I be as creative as that.
He was great. RIP
I used to live with his niece for a while, she was a twin, and she told me some very nice stories about Uncle Neil. They were visitng him when the twins were 15 years old with their mum. Neil had run out of some smoking material, and the twins had some but couldn't tell him with their mother around. Anyhow he took them to his studio where they had a little smoke and he asked them if they would like to listen to a new composoition and of course they did. Simone, my girlfriend, told me that it was such a beautiful tune they were both moved to tears by it. He was a properly nice man.
Miss you Neil. RIP. Thanks for the laughs.
Lovely interview. It was so nice to see Neil and his band at The Stand Comedy Club in Glasgow twice. Neil's mannerisms remind me of Edd China!
RIP Ron Nasty
Neil singing 'Love is Getting Deeper' made me sad that he is gone.
I saw Bonzo Dog at the London Palladium in the late 1960s or maybe 1970 (was with the accompanying girlfriend 1968-69-70). Bonzo Dog were bloody hilarious and by far and away the best act on the bill. Less than interesting anecdote: Vivian Stanshall sat next to me and the aforementioned girlfriend (Lynne) when we went to see Yellow Submarine in the West End. That was definitely in 1968. VS had an attaché case and got out of it at one point some sandwiches and a Thermos flask. I was going to ask for an autograph but couldn't remember his name. Couldn't really say "Aren't you thingy?" could I?
Loved it. glad Neil mentioned GRIMMS as that is where I first came across him.
R.I.P. Neil Innes.
I could listen to Neil talk all day, very humble personality, i could definitely relate to as an artist mysself.
He did a good TV series called, Away with Words, some years ago, looking at the origins of words. It's pretty good, you'll find a lot of full episodes online. Here's one... ua-cam.com/video/wf9OkxZMuBM/v-deo.html
@@reddevil9554 Thanks for that 🙂👌
Can’t believe two people have put a thumbs down, set the moustachioed daughters on them
At least 12 of em
Run em Into a field of fat
Thank you Neil !
thank you, Sharon
Neil Innes such a bon vivant and relaxed funny soul this middle aged American loves but almost forgot how important he/ Viv and Bonzos influenced my life.
Herbert Norkus he was a genius.
Sheridan Morley. Now I know how the Viz character Sheridan Poorly came about.
Fascinating stuff. The man's written so many brilliant songs - witty, catchy etc - it is quite incredible he's never had a proper hit record under his own name! This suggests to me that either (a) his record company (Polygram?) and the media have no idea how to promote his music, or (b) most of the public just don't get it.. Probably both eh?
A lot may be down to the record companies, being commercial enterprises they are only interested in making money. Who possibly didn't consider Neil Innes songs as profitable.
As his main output is satirical and very eclectic I doubt there was sufficient market. The straight songs he did were then lost in commercial terms.
But at least his Urban Spaceman was a huge hit though under the Bonzo's ...
I shall miss Neil greatly. In my mind's eye I always felt that The Beatles Plus Monty Python equals Bonzo dog band Then again that's in my opinion. They were all brilliant satirists
Lovely!
Only two flies in the ointment really...
(1) Wonder why I couldn't watch this on me iPad? I had to get out of bed and go all the way downstairs to find me laptop.
(2) How on earth could Neil resist putting a stop to all the probing questions and demand, "OK Sheridan, enough of all that - now tell us what your dad's really like!"
Looks like actor Peter Firth
Can see why he started wearing that black and red cricket cap from the 80s . Great way to hide the chrome dome.
A bit of a petty remark really .
