I swear GOD ain't know how to Thank you. You really helpin out. I was about to spend $1k to get my rig fixed into Dupont VA petro shop. Ive watched this video and I tried the last one and the engine crank up. I was about to cry of joy. I spent $849+$112 last night on drive tire and mudflap bracket( Side road assistance) and I woke up this morning with this issue but you really really really help me out dude. Yeah Get to a freightliner get that switch replaced and put away the paper clip for a rainy day. 👍 glad to have been of help I could use the blessings. By the way after it started you can pull the paper clip out and plug it back in so you’re speedometer and engine brake work properly.

I'm glad it helped somebody. Be sure to secure that paperclip and don't let it ground out on anything cover with electric tape or something until you can get the clutch switch replaced. Don't quote me but I think that switch is like $60-$80 or maybe was $40, I can't remember, plus labor of course.

Floyd-Paul Brannan my switch is actually fine. I did it because I don't want to have to push the clutch pedal down when starting the truck in the middle of the night ( too lazy to put on my shoe). only problem is now the cruise and engine brake don't work. I'm going use the #3 bypass with flip switch in the dash to get past that little issue.

Interesting I didn't know the clutch switch would affect the Jake break and the cruise control, must be a thing for the newer trucks I guess, mines a 2011 doesn't affect mines at all even when I had my paperclip in there for a little while.

Can the clutch switch cause truck shutting down randomly while idling and driving ?

No . It’s only for starting it. If your truck is randomly shutting down, I did have that problem. First, make sure your battery cables are tight, however, for me Turned out. It was a computer on the lower engine block. All of winter road salt gets down there on seal on the main plug. It’s usually yellow and a couple inches long.

I tried the top stud and lower stud on my 2009 cascadia and didn't work. What I had to do was take a wrench and touch both the bottom studs together while wearing rubber gloves. Wonder if maybe my starter was wired wrong for me to have to do it that way. Electric probe works great also though.

Before I took it off i tried to test it by touching the solenoid screw and the positive by the alternator but it simply did a little spark noise ( no visible spark ) and would not start or crank. I wish to try your method since mine is also a 2009 cascadia so my alternator may also be wired different like yours,. Anyways I pray it isnt the CPC, usually a faulty CPC dont work when the voltmeter stops tracking the volts after turning the key on (not starting it) but in my truck it does track the volts at 12 volts -14 volts so idk

I really dont know about my cascadia. Took it to freightliner and they put a new starter and a bettery in that order and sonething about reworking the battery cables. $2326 later the truck was starting. Next morning Im back to no start. I tried the clutch sensor wire trick without luck. I then jumped the starter and it cranked and cranked but no start. Then i tried the clutch sensor again thinking maybe I wasnt hitting the clips inside and it fired up. I bet that wont work next time. I am up to my ass in debt and have a truck that wont start. I cant believe people get on her to talk bad at you for trying to help others in similar situations. I understand thats a safety feature but damn it gets expensive calling out repair trucks and shop repairs.

In 2013 freightliner cascades showing in dash board no eng break, no cruise, abs light on, no cab & no data. Then I,ve been in freightliner dealership they could not find the problem. What can I do? Please I need help.

Samson It’s your main engine computer it probably got wet somehow. Driver side under or in between the frame, kind of behind the wheel close to the ground sort of. Check the connection most likely rotten from salt spray and it will cause all of those above faults. Gray looking box with heat fins. 2 Flat plug of wires going to it.

I had this same problem recently, and traced finally after 3 days to the run relay in the dashboard fuse panel. Replaced Chinese crap relay with Motorcraft crap relay and good to go. I think it was relay 5.

Tun TuN Yeah cruise control and engine brake don’t work 🤷‍♂️. However just pull the paper clip back out and plug to plug back together when you go drive, this is heavily discussed in the comments. Just been too lazy to edit video 😓🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Yes , but tape it up and cover secure it well if the metal hits other metal can blow a fuse. computer will be fine.

I got mine deleted, paid $4700. Trucks runs freaking awesome. Only issues I have had is the typical stuff that you can fix or any diesel shop. Google Diesel Spec, they are Canadian based, franchise out their software to US diesel mechanic shops all over. It's a good deal.

I'm having a hard time hearing you can you please message me or make another video I believe my clutch switch it's going out. Starter and ignition are brand new but it doesn't start every time usually take 5or more turns for it to crank

Just skip to option three and stick a paperclip in the plug , stick it in number one and three , far left and far right don't put it in the middle hole , Secure it don't let no metal hit it because it will short out something. If you can still start at five times in a row then it should switch for sure. Write me back let me know if it works?

Oh my bad I forgot to add that, because my truck is a little bit older I think the cruise control and engine break thing is for the Cummings and the newer Detroit possibly or maybe my truck is just weird. after you start it you can pull up the clip out and then everything should go back to normal it would be kind of a huge pain in the ass to keep like That , It definitely means that your clutch switch needs to be replaced if paperclip makes it starts every time. Unfortunately means your ignition and the starter is probably fine. I think the clutch which is something like $60-$90 it's kind of in a tight spot that you might be able to do it yourself I think only one Allen head screws holding it on there.

Please truck drivers do not accidentally leave your truck in gear and go out there and bypass the clutch switch which is also a neutral safety switch to start your trucks because if you do you may get run over and if not at the very least your truck might start in gear take off and cause a lot of damage to somebody or something somewhere this is irresponsible information should not be followed take the time to get your truck fixed right

Yes you can only with computer only, most shops will do it for some kind of cost like $50-$100 , its called "clear codes" I've done as such to finish a load and get to shop else where , it will return in a few days if problem is bad.

If you stick a paperclip in there in hole one and three far left far right not the middle. (clutch switch plug) depending how your truck is set up it may cause your engine braking on cruise control not to work but I have to start the truck then you can go ahead and pull a paperclip out if I don't work and that means it's probably a problem with your starter. Then you should probably use my second option to jump the starter. Carefully make sure it's not in gear, ignition on.

Pause the vid at 3:08 - 5:24 take out of gear be sure ignition is on , get a wire hold on the tiny top screw then hold the opposite side of the wire to the stud to the left bend in the wired in the shape of U hold it on there until it starts should take about two seconds three seconds , then pull the whole wire away.
