If you follow Scott long enough there are a couple things you really need to worry about, in competition. First part of every hole - its not "did I hit the fairway" its "did I hit a drive that gave me a great shot into the green." yes, fairway is the best option, but often times slightly in the 1st cut or rough isn't a problem (don't kill yourself over that). Second, like Scott said, did I pick a target that gives me the best chance to make par/save par. This could be 1 foot on the fringe on a mishit, dead center of the green on a perfect shot, and maybe 5 feet to the pin on a mishit. Don't let the iron result kill your judgement. Lastly, simply rate out of 10 how well your speed control was and if you hit your line. A - you know if you hit your line you did well, B, if you left it within 1-2 feet rate it a 9 or 10, 2 to 4 feet, 7 or 8, outside of 5 feet just go down the scale. By doing this each hole is a process - first step, give yourself the green light drive. second step, give yourself an easy par, worse case bogey. After that nothing matters.
Love DECADE, and loved this video! I had a tough time last weekend in my city amateur and tried to force things, leading to terrible result. I’ve got the state amateur qualifier tomorrow, and I’m going to have a stronger mental approach like you and scott talked about.
I don't disagree about needing to hit it longer as there is a correlation between length off the tee and handicap. However, I watched your entire qualifier video and would give you the advice John Daly gives every golfer....you have to be rock solid from 150 and in. In this qualifier you were not. It's also important to know where the "miss is". Long on #4 would have been better. Going for the long pin guarded by water on 14 was a huge mistake. Your assessment at the end of this video is spot on, you need to know your iron distances better. It seemed like you were all over the map with your yardages. Driver was so solid as were the lag putts and putting in general. Love your videos in general and am a huge fan. Best of luck to you.
Great sounding board. You answered your own questions when he turned it back to you. And you answered correctly. Stuff like center of the green. Good misses. In the moment. I liked the idea of avoid three putts/bogeys, and get the birdie when it presents itself and par the long par fours. Make those pars and capitalize on the gifts. The point of inching to the leader board making pars on 4.1-4.4 holes inches you into a better position. Gold. Go Luke. Be that guy.
Scott has changed my game. I also need to get longer. But my strength and what I have been teaching my players. Is staying present. I got one player to high school State even after his round 2 6th hole took a 9 LOL. Had to get him to remember that nothing matters besides what is he trying to do on the shot at his feet in the present moment. He qualified by 1 stroke it was awesome.
I use decade - at the very least I know I’m playing the best odds, and often I’m rewarded with a lower score than I had expected from the way I played before (emotionally, whimsically).
I have a friend who is 87 years old and he’s a plus 5 handicap . Why because he’s rarely farther than 10 feet from the hole. Just to let you know early this year he shot 19 under his age. Learn where to aim your shot to give you the best chance to get close to the hole . He hits a baby draw off the tee . Every other club he hits a baby fade . I’ve never heard him say “ I need to hit a shaped shot , he just hits his natural shape shot every time.
most of the youtube golfers delude themselves, and are affirmed by their internet simps on the otherside of the screen. Only a couple that are not like this, but the majority are simply deluded youtubers. I notice most of these youtubers tend to talk how they are going to shape x shot but cant really even hit it straight. Its alot of delusion going on.
Min 13. Welcome to real golf courses. Driving in the fairway used to be a prerequisite... US open's test your irons and short game BUT you must already have the driving. Ignore bryson at winged foot.... Though, it's important to note, he had the most strokes gained driving that week and hit many many fairways at nearly 400 yards.... 😊
You are standing 145 from a tucked right pin. Imagine you are playing blackjack... Shooting at the fat center of the green is like taking a card on 11. Shooting at the flag is like taking a card on 18. Sure, it can be done.
while 3 putts are frustrating, it's unrealistic to think it'll never happen (E expecations). the putt you showed in this video looked like it was from 40-45'? call it 40' - PGA tour average is 3 putting that 10% of the time. i bet arccos has data on amateur players but i'd be willing to bet a very good amateur (
Obviously Decade Golf is not for me. I’m no where near “Zalatoris.” 108 mph swing speed-“that’s fine-it’s not Zalatoris-keep at it little buddy.” Omg…sorry but IMO Fawcett is very full of himself. WOW…Luke you don’t need that crap. Just go play golf
hmm, just me or did Scott Fawcett come off a bit douchey/elitist? I know he knows his golf data/analytics and all but seemingly, in his mind, he's only talking to PRO PRO elite levels of golfers, youtube golfers aren't even anything to recognize, smuggly saying 'i'm always right', just rubbed me the wrong way.

This cat took a shot at all YT golfers when he said "im old, and I'm a solid player" 😂😂😂
Oh he did hahaha
The first minute and 20 seconds hearing this guy talk himself up was enough I couldn’t listen anymore.
@nickb.237 it's earned my guy. Look at what he's done. He clearly claimed to be a "logic" guy. Not a top tier professional golfer

Yes this is really good and we didn’t need to hear blather about blah blah blah….
I’m so glad you’re learning and applying Decade. Ben Hadden is a huge proponent as well. I would love to see Micah use it as well.
that little squirts ego is to big to use it.
Micha has been on it
@@jonmacadoo8514 yep!
I don’t have a promo code but I can roast your game whenever you want 😜
Easy to do when you suck as bad as bible boy

Plenty reasons to be positive. Thanks for bringing us along.

Its SO hard to not think about our scores relative to Par. It's been the hardest part in development
The distance advice is always a good one. Closer to the pin is closer to the pin.
Absolutely love it dude. Scott is a Legend
very true, you have to have enjoyment in letting everything future and past go
good playin man
Great video. Keep grinding!
I've always said I'd rather have a bogey free round than shooting the same score with 4 birdies. It's also much harder to do.
Keep grinding!
It's like Moneyball for golf
I use decade - at the very least I know I’m playing the best odds, and often I’m rewarded with a lower score than I had expected from the way I played before (emotionally, whimsically).
I finally bought Decade like 2 weeks ago and then Scott drops the first promo code ever
This is the roast we all wanted to see!!!
Golf is hard... Big Respect!

So he’s a professor of logic?
very enlightening

Great video
Work on your wedge game!!!!!!!!
60- 120yards. Put some real work in on wedges.
Fawcett can tell after speaking to peavy for 2 mins that he’s a 10 handicap and a horrible golfer
Pure hatred lol
Play for par to win.

yeah, Fawcett came off very douchey
The best in the world are douchy. They're literally better than everyone else
