This movie was easily 80% spectacle, and spectacle is important on the BIG screen....just not this much. There was a time when something like that would have worked. I'm curious, within a film, how important is spectacle compared to story for you?
I love Grace VanderWall, too! I didn't realize she was in it until I saw her... or actually heard her. She has such a beautiful voice, and her scenes are some of my favorite in the film. Thanks for the hair compliment. I have a massive migraine today and you just made me feel a little bit better. 🙂
There is enough there with the outsiders where dairy was a leader of the socs and his family lived in the country a much different life before he became the leader of the greasers and ended up in the foster care system with his two brothers he was going to be this football legend that is the way his life was set on he was the leader of a gang of rich kids then he eventually ended up with two dead parents because of a train accident and ended up loosing everything that is a full story Francis could have made
I missed seeing your note when you first posted it! I loved The Outsiders. What a great movie that was. ... I just might have to rewatch it!! Thank you!
It sounds like he should have gave up on this and made a godfather 4 a mafia Elvis movie or a outsiders sequel where we are with pony boy and his family at there farm before there mom and dad die he could do an amazing story there that he never got to film any of those I said would have made a billion and would have been instant classics
Hey, Mike, did you ever watch the mini series on the making of The Godfather? Its a Paramount+ series called The Offer. I thought it was fascinating and after I watched it, I went back an re-binged The Godfather series. Seeing those film "after" watching The Offer was amazing because suddenly I was seeing the actors in a different light, seeing the story development differently, etc. It was great.
Mike, I have no idea. Really... it's a mystery. I was looking forward to this film so much, and I was ready to forgive all kinds of eccentricities because I love thoughtful-puzzle films... but this one just went in a 100 different directions all at once. It was like a lifetime of ideas packed into a film that he always wanted to make. There is something painful about watching it, knowing how much he loves this movie and how much of himself that he put into it. I think the film's biggest problem is that nobody felt like they could tell him that he needed to reel in some of the story lines to give it more focus. Instead they fed into his vanity like the Emperor with No Clothes. I think this is what makes me sad about this film. It could have been better with some cuts and trimming, and the effect would have been dramatic...even if it didn't fix everything.
It was everything that I never expected from him. It was THE vanity project of vanity projects that could not pull itself together, and I think it suffered from idolism in a way that can only happen when you surround yourself with people who check their own good instincts at the door and just tell you how great everything is while they are watching the train wreck happen in real time. Then again, the person sitting next to me in the theater loved it. So, maybe it speaks to a specific set of people ... 🤷♀ Thanks for the comment. 🙂

Beautiful hair. Great review. I am going to see it 'cause my favorite singing IDOL is Grace VanderWaal or I probably would not go to see it.

I think, what you said, was that Francis F. C. was in the movie as the contemporaneous viewer, and what we sees in the movie is what Coppola sees.
I think that is a very nice way to put it. 🙂
I Love your hair. Thank You!
Awww! Thank you!
your hair is wonderful
Thank you!!! You made my day. ❤
This movie was so awkward and confusing. Great review👍.
Thanks, Brent. I think your comment summarizes it perfectly!

What an absolute awful movie. I couldn't believe it was Copolla movie
