You have probably seen the frothy bubbles on plants in the last month or so which is called “cuckoo spit”, this protective froth actually contains the nymph of the Froghopper, keeping it safe from predators while it matures. Commonly found all over the country in a variety of habitats, the Froghopper is nonetheless quite remarkable due to how high it can jump, which can be over 70cm. This is actually the highest jump, relative to body size in the animal kingdom and will exert a G-force of 400 gravities (g) in the initial part of it’s jump, in perspective an astronaut experiences about 3g and the best fighter pilots can handle about 9g.
