- This video from the N69 Listowel Bypass Scheme in County Kerry presents an overview of the Stage (iii) Excavations undertaken for the project. The sites excavated included: Bronze Age burnt mounds (also known as Fulachta Fiadh) at Coolnaleen Lower 1, Garryantanvally 1-3 and Garryantanvally 4; medieval charcoal-production pits at Coolnaleen Lower 2; possible Bronze Age cremation pits at Coolnaleen Lower 3 and Coolnaleen Upper 1; probable early medieval settlement activity associated with a nearby ringfort at Coolnaleen Lower 4; a number of large worked structural timbers of unknown date as well as the remains of a wooden stave-built vessel at Gortcurreen 1; and a nineteenth-century vernacular house at Curraghatoosane 1.
Finds from the excavations comprised stone tools including a stone axehead from Coolnaleen Lower 1 and an assemblage of post-medieval artefacts from the house site at Curraghatoosane 1.
