* Michigan has 30,000 L of fuel in total. There is another fuel trailer in Black River down by the wooden bridge next to the Drilling Site. Sorry for that, but hey; This is even better news*. Also there now that there are logging vehicle frames; the expense from the medium log trailer is no longer needed
Yesss! Hard mode is awesome and super satisfying! Great tips NP and I agree about the cosmetic repair cost. 💎
It really is addicting after you start it. Thank you Scruffy! I appreciate that
I just don't like how restrictive it is. I don't want to limit myself to the best few trucks in the game and use noting else. I enjoy owning every truck, having varity, scouting and doing checkpoint missions with scouts even though you'd be much better off using a truck.
I'd get bored if fuel and money forced me to find the best truck in any given region and just stick to it and never use anything else.
But hey if it's fun for you, more power to you.
BTW, how's Professor Farnsworth these days? (Sorry lol, I just could not pass up the opportunity)
@@justinlynch3 I think the game is great because you can either maximize your difficulty like in hardmode or just choose good trucks like you said.
So I have no ideal what you’re referring to actually
@@NProvince But in hard mode if your not efficient with your spending, I heard you can get to a point where you can run out of funds and be forced to restart the game.
So is using less capable vehicles really even a viable option in hard mode?
So the term “less capable” vehicle is subjective based on what you think is capable. To me I believe I can make it work and have with great success with what the game has given me. There are more Hardmode players who have used lesser vehicles and thrived. It’s based on what your comfort level is. Ya you can run outta funds, but you can still be very efficient and effective without having to reach for overpowered trucks early in the game. That’s my opinion, but all my numbers are in the video and I was using highway trucks and what was found and yet I still had abundance of resources to help build through Alaska
--- Additional Tips ---
•You can use mission fuel trailers for free fuel down to 10% of their capacity.
•Place any found fuel trailers (Black River) in the town centre besides for the massive one at the fuel station up the hill (3200 litres). This works well for logistics and planning.
•Unlock the extra fuel roof rack for the Chevy Scout as soon as possible.
•Use the Scout 800 roof rack at level 6 as a backup scout with extra fuel capacity.
•Always buy the autonomous winch for the primary scout vehicle. It's expensive but will pay for itself if you happen to flip a scout even once.
•Find the P16 on Drummond Island as fast as possible. It's full of fuel and in perfect condition. This truck is an animal and will make the likes of the White Western Star recovery and long missions like Oil Rig construction a doddle due to its raw power.
Extra Tip;
If trailers are being awkward and you find it impossible to reverse them neatly, especially the single axle ones, you can pull up alongside them and attach your winch to park them properly.
Good additional tips :)
You can transfer fuel from region to region via fuel tank frame addon. You have to keep it equiped on your vehicle because if you un equip it, it will drain out.
Yep thats true. I moved alot of fuel out of Michigan to Alaska. I showed how much in the video as well.
As the fan of the series since early Spintires builds, I can say that "hard mode" is the way this game meant to be played, especially if you want maximum enjoyment end rewarding experience. It's like "impossible" difficulty in X-Com games - very tough, but when you got a taste of it there is no going back :)
Very Fun indeed :)
Something I heard as a heavy equipment op in training I think fits here
Slow is smooth and smooth is fast, don't rush everywhere, drop in low gear with just ur diff on , ur gas tank will thank you
That’s exactly right!
That's what they say at the firehouse too haha slow is smooth, smooth is fast! 🚒 🔥
Just started playing Snow Runner with a couple of friends in co-op mode. I also started a hard mode for painful fun. Great tips and subscribed today. I really like the level of detail you provide. Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much! Man you really picked up an awesome game. Its even better to play with friends too. Thank you for the subscription! More to come!
A series of hard mode truck selections would be great, especially early game
I mentioned trucks and addons I bought in that video at the end. In hardmode it’s hard to buy trucks because you’re always short on money. Im only going to buy a few trucks, the rest are going to be free. However maybe I’ll make a video on trucks for hardcore or I can add them to my next hardcore video. Good idea :)
Hard mode is the best way to play for me, but I'm agree with you: In our garages the cost for repairs ours vehicles have to be more accurate according the price of the trucks and the damage.
Yes sir, It really is the best way to play. I just started a coop hardmode where we start in Maine and work backwards through the maps. Pretty challenging for sure. Ya the cost of repair should reflect the damage, Hopefully that will change in the future.
my tip is go straight for the p16. it will turn any rescue or heavy logging mission a breeze since its tires are so op before you can unlock proper mud tires.
That is another good option. I mean there are plenty of trucks you can jump around and get to make this easy. For this example I went with a perspective of playing maps in order, but yes the P16 is very strong especially with those tire codes
Nice hard mode video. Good timing as I just started a hard mode playthrough. Things learned - woah, that's a ton of fuel in MI, buying trucks for the long term.
Thank you!! I hope this helps your hardmode!
the only thing that i didnt like about hard mode is they skip the first mission fixing the first bridge. the rest make the gameplay alot more fun for me but im the kind of person that likes the challenge of finance and fuel management
Ah yes that mission woulda be cool to have for sure
Actually, if you want to have real fun - try to start what I call "Russian campaign" - just start a new game in hardmode, sell your starting Chevy, switch to Taimyr garage, Buy a Don 71 and go exploring :) That's where all this fuel and money saving tips are really come into play :))))
Personally, hardmode doesn't offer me any extra enjoyment but as far as guides go, this were some excellent tips. Gonna check out some of your other videos and oh, you have a new subscriber. :D
Oh , and I have a question. You didn't happen to keep track of how much fuel you actually used and how much the cost of that fuel would have been?
Hey Thank you so much!! Hardmode isnt for everyone. As I said in the video, I was a huge skeptic until i tried it.
True, I did not keep track of what was used, but to do that We would just subtract total fuel gained, by the fuel taken to Alaska. Also it would be rather difficult to calculate money cost on fuel because each gas stations prices are different and they increase on every map usually. That part I did decide to leave out. I do know that most money in this game is consumed through transit (fuel burn); so my strategy was to mitigate money lost from fuel and keep that to purchase trucks and have a good stash of funds when my fuel supply runs out. Eventually I believe I will have to buy fuel, but so far I haven't through the first 3 maps of the game and still have extra fuel stashed in Alaska that I just didnt have room to take. I hope that kinda answered your question. Sorry I know it was longwinded.
i used the fleetstar that i fixed with the matnence and fuel trailers nearby
Same here untill I pulled out the White western which was fun LOL
Let me know if you ever want to do a hard mode coop game. Loved the video and would love to record in the future!
Thank you! I appreciate that :)
@@TDILMAN100 I agree you definitely should play hardmode by yourself, but also a custom hardmode multi is another fun run as well
Like the tips, but skip the part about open maps)) - didn't want to know all the places and secrets of the map until I will find it by myself!))
Undertand what you mean. I just did that to help people who might not know
You talk about transfering 4.5 loads of fuel to Alaska. It cost 3500 for each deployment, you end up paying 7000 for 2000litres, how does this make financial sense? (I'm DanDozen btw)
Thats a good point. So heres my thought process. I would rather take as much fuel with me, rather than paying for fuel on every map. Each map the prices varies right, so if I have fuel banked, Im not going to pay a higher price for it.
Some people will transfer their tanker trucks to michigan just to fill them up because its cheaper in later parts of the game to stay away from paying 6-8$ a gallon apposed to 2$ (ish).
For me my 4.5 (1800L / 476 Gal) fuel trucks stay retained until I need them to be deployed on my current map. So right now in Alaska I only have 1 out but I probably wont need to deploy them until Taymyr because free fuel is scarce.
In summary it boils down to. Do I wanna spend more money deploy/ redeploy to areas where fuel cost is low to fill up and then bring them back to my current area. Or... Have trucks banked with fuel or fuel trailers at a garage location on another map to deploy to siphon and then deploy back. Essentially I'm trying to save money on not paying for fuel as long as I can.
Sorry thats very longwinded, but I wish I could just explain it over voice (which is always easier)
@@NProvince ah. Gotcha. So worst case deploying in Michigan, filling up and redeploying would cost 11,000 or 5.5 per litre. That's cheaper than some fuel I've seen. Thanks.
My mistake, only 1800 litres. But that's still good.
@@danthebat666 Well Hopefully we can all make it pretty far without having to redeploy so we can build some good funds. :)
do not buy medium logs trailer the GMC MH9500 can carry medium logs. and it can transfer to the next region.
Yes, keep in mind that this video was made prior to saber releasing logging frames on vehicles
I already did everything wrong hahahah I don't if I should restart at this point
Wait. I think you’ll be ok. Just do a few more contest every region to earn back the money and you’ll be just fine. Depending on what map you’re on you can still get free fuel around the map
Hey man just got a question, Is it worth selling some of the trucks you find in hard mode or is it better keeping them as they are so expensive to buy?
Very good question. Personally I will sell a truck on two conditions in hardmode. 1) Lack of Utility. I sold the Twinsteer because well I wanna my fleet of trucks to be able to do most tasks if I need. 2) If you need money and know you will not buy it later.
Before I dove in, I planned on what trucks I know would work with my game plan. You can keep the trucks around just in case you need money later, then you can sell a vehicle that you just don’t use at all. It’s really situation dependent and also it’s up to your preference. I hope that helps :)
@@NProvince thanks man appreciate your help. I went and got the awd upgrade for the gmc mh9500 from kola shortly after accessing smithville dam, ended up spending a bit on deployment for my scout, I think it’s worth it though, absolutely loving hard mode.
A pro tip is to not sell a truck unless u absolutly need the money now or u are gonna spend that money right away to buy another truck. The reson for this is as u find upgrades to trucks, u cant sell them unless u have a truck that can use it. So should u sell all trucks u find right away even through u know u are not gonna use it u will end up with alot of upgrades that u simply cant sell.
Did you only use American trucks in the fittest American regions or did you go get the Tayga etc from Russia and go back to Michigan etc?
I didnt jump forward in this playthrough to get any vehicles. I just played in map order
You missed a fuel trailer in Black River. Let's see how can I describe this.
OK so you know the drilling site, you know you need to build that wooden bridge that is there? Well just a little ways down past the turn after building the bridge (if you are crossing from the drilling site side), there is a fuel carrier trailer as well. Not mission related, all free fuel.
Actually when your doing that contest (time trailer) to bring consumables to the drilling site, the route you take should bring you right past that trailer.
Yes I did miss that trailer there. That is a mission trailer I believe. Good catch. I thought I accounted for all the fuel mission trailers but good catch there.
@@NProvince Actually that one isn't, the fuel trailer you haul out of the muddy swamp and the big green one are mission trailers. This one and the other one just down the road from the garage are free trailers.
I go around collecting and selling trailers after I finish a region, and I'm pretty sure that one was sellable.
Thought of this but havent tried in case it messes things up (though it really shouldnt). Can we still restart missions in hard mode? If yes, what happens to the fuel in missions/contracts with fuel trailers?
Thats a good question. I have a feeling they thought ahead about that. Perhaps the fuel value stays the same as when it was last touched. I never dared to try that one.
Hey have you checked out the Tatra force after the update? It feels improved like it doesn't struggle when towing a truck with the towing platform and the crane that goes on it and the Phoenix feels stronger and they changed the tires on it and they feel like they have more grip which Is good it deserves to be better then what it was before because I really like the truck
I have checked out the tires somewhat but haven’t jumped back into the addons and such. I started a new job recently so tonight after work I’ll dive in and test those out. That’s really exciting!!
Well the Phoenix was already a good truck, I'd put it top 2 or 3 in offroad class for sure, and even pretty high on the overall ranking list. But if they made it even better, then I won't complain.
Maybe they put heavier tires on the Force so it doesn't wheelie so easily with a truck on the hook? But yea out of the two the Force was the weak one for sure, so it's good it's been buffed.
Hi,, by 10% fuel on mission related carriers,, do you mean you can ONLY siphon 10% before turning them in or do you have to leave atleast 10% of fuel inside the carrier? Thanks and happy trucking!
Good Question. Yes, I probably briefly mentined this on the video, but I shoulda hammered this one home a lil more with additional detail. When you find a mission trailer that is part of a task or a contract, you may siphon 90% leaving at least 10% in the tank before turning it in. The game will not accept anything below 10% on missions. I usually try and leave a little more than 10% just to ensure mission success. Also those values for 10% are listed on the video as well if you'd like to reference those. I hope this helps sir. :)
What happens if you take more than 90%? Is the mission just failed forever and you can't restart?
You can leave 10% of the fuel in the trailer. If you take too much you can refill of it at a gas station or other sources of fuel.
I would rather had things in hardcore like we had in wisconsin. Crafting and finding. Sure, the pay for everything feature is interesting, but not much new
Ya, Essentially Hardmode is just centered around money/ time/ and logistical management. I think if they made it harder to level up and such it woulda been better. I actually just posted a playthrougn where Im creating a custom scenario that is rather challenging
Will you do a review on the Derry Longhorn 3194
I sure will! :)
Thank you it's in my top ten favorite trucks
It goes places other trucks would take forever to go
Like the bog going to the service site in North Port
hey man, so i'm currently on the yukon in hard mode rn. i've scouted most of flooded foothills but i've noticed there isn't any fuel carrier on the map. what would you suggest? paying for gas is gonna completely run me out of money
There is a maintenance trailer that has fuel next to the Big Salmon Peak Gateway. Also if your running out of money, you might wanna go back to Michigan and Alaska to scavenge fuel to bring over.
@@NProvince i picked up on that from some of your livestreams. currently have a white western star as my tanker for the region but will probably switch to the cat 745c. and i totally forgot about the maintenance trailer lmao
I also mentioned areas with a lot of free fuel in this video, Alaska and Michigan will be really good areas to go attain that free fuel
@@NProvince that sounds like the plan moving forward. pedro bay has a ton of the stuff
The game actually bored me, I felt like money was pointless and there was no real reason to progress. I didn't even get 20% through the game before I started playing in hard mode and now, ill never go back.
I've spoken alot about why hardmode is not hard on a recent video on my channel, but This custom hardmode i felt was the greatest challenge i personally had on SnowRunner. Check it out: ua-cam.com/video/n7XD735Jw34/v-deo.html
Hard mode is the only way to play after messing around with easy mode.
I agree. Hardmode just makes the game feel new. I wish they would randomize all upgrades across maps to make it even more challenging
@@NProvince definitely and also add hard mode toggles for certain things to play how we choose.
Yes! That would be awesome; like a custom made campaign options
I'll bite. How do you get fuel from Michigan to Alaska???
In the video I explained it, but what you do is bring All fuel sources (trailers) to your garage. Equip trucks that you can designate as fuel truck with the fuel carrier addon then siphon all the fuel you can onto that fuel truck. Put it in your garage and retain it. Then once you bring it to Alaska, when you deploy it, it will have the fuel that you brought from Michigan. Alaska has a lot of free fuel as well.
@@NProvince I see what you're saying, but isn't it more expensive to move the vehicle back and forth than it is to just refill it in the new territory???
I haven’t moved any vehicles back to the previous area I’ve finished. I just completed Kola Peninsula today and I still haven’t paid for any fuel. The only region I just didn’t have enough vehicles to move all the fuel to the next map was Alaska moving to Taymyr. Also take into account that Gas gets more expensive as you progress in the game. The prices change region to region, map to map. I will go back to Alaska and finish taking free fuel because the Yukon hardly has any fuel to offer at all, same with Wisconsin.
@@NProvince NOICE!!! I'll definitely try that. Cause that's an issue I run into.
Hi , I don´t agree with the hard mod game to have the possibility to use the mission trailers , for me is cheating
I don’t feel like it is cheating, but I definitely understand what you mean. I respect that you want to return the trailer in their full state. For me cheating is using mods. The developers set a 10% mission trailer capacity for a reason. The 10% capacity is a baked in requirement for those missions. I believe the developers did that so we could use those to our benefit. That’s just my humble opinion.
you can't sell trailers, so that's fair enough
Bet no-one has ever, or will ever, finish this game in Hard.
I know quite a few people that have actually. It is tough, but it can be done. I have a friend who has done it twice on hardmode. Its really about managing logistics. The game difficulty is the same in the physics department
@@NProvince What including Amur and all the other DLC ?
If they have they're Gods.
@@glogan4078 Ya I've seen some start off in Amur actually. One of them on twitch is a good friend of mine DistrictB13_U. Hes currently doing an all highway & scout truck challenge on hardmode. He's beaten Hardmode twice I think
Hardmod is bs literally nothing changes physics wise. So more like grind mod.
Its more about money management and logistical challenge. If they did make the terrain harder, I feel no one would use the NA trucks at all. NG+ doesnt change physics either. I just dont think they can alter those
@@NProvince Yeah, well that's the real challenge. And the maps. I hope with new year pass they add some south american location or something. With tight roads on montains. So when you flip it's game over back to garage. China adventure on the original Spintires was also pretty cool. But that's another dev.
I never played that, but that would be really cool. That seems like it would be a real challenge kinda like the Red Canyons mod map. I think thats what its called
